Return Of The Heiress For Revenge -
Chapter 508: Our Marriage!
Chapter 508: Our Marriage!
"Are you sure you want to come?" Alric asked again as he held the metal door tightly. He did not want to show the gruesome wounds but at the same time, he had never refused her for anything. If she wanted the moon, he would find a way to bring it for her.
"Yes, I can handle it." she assured him. Her shoulders were bandaged and her face still looked pale but she was much better after a night’s rest. Alric had forced Max to visit her early in the morning and check her condition.
Only then he had brought her here.
"Alright, but.. If you feel nauseated, I will bring you out at once." he warned before opening the door.
The room was dimly lit. As Nora walked inside, she instantly found Chris. He laid on the stone floor. Barely conscious, his body twitched at the sound of footsteps. Beside him was a man with a dark face. He was tending to Chris’s wounds. The man worked methodically, dabbing antiseptic and stitching wounds without anesthesia. Chris moaned, a choked, hollow sound.
But the moment Nora stepped into his field of vision, his bleary eyes snapped open. Hatred danced in those dark eyes.
"You," he rasped, voice thick and broken. "You did this."
Nora didn’t flinch. She stepped forward slowly and sat beside him. Alric stood behind her, and though he did not say a word, his eyes did not leave Nora even for a second.
"You witch! Why did you do this to me? I had no enmity with you. If not for you, we could have lived a different life. You... even now you have a chance. Stop him!" he snarled with force, but his eyes were pleading.
"A different life?" Nora tilted her head as if she was tasting the words on her tongue. "I have lived a different life before. And it was because of you that I had died in that life. This pain is nothing in front of that." Alric let go of the breath he was holding. He looked relieved that she did not blame him for being cruel.
Chris tried to sit up, but his body rebelled, spasming from pain. "You’re insane. I never touched you. You started all of this. You—"
"You never touched me?" she interrupted sharply, her tone sharp enough to slice through stone. "Then what about Nat?" he had not touched her in this life. But that was only because she was untouchable.
"You never touched me because you did not have that power." she spat.
Nora stepped closer, her eyes never leaving his face. "And the others? The girls you hurt and discarded like they were nothing? They trusted you, loved you but you only used them and discarded them as if they were nothing."
His expression shifted, momentarily uncertain. "That has nothing to do with you."
"It has everything to do with me," she said. "Because I was one of them once."
"You think you’re so righteous?" Chris hissed. "You think this torture makes you a hero? You’re no better than I am."
Nora’s lips curled into a cold smile. "I’m not trying to be better than you. I just want you to feel the pain you give to others for once."
Chris glared, seething with hatred, but he couldn’t speak. He couldn’t argue. Not with his hands bandaged in strips of bloody gauze. Not with the salt still burning in his wounds.
"You deserve worse," Nora whispered. "But I’ll settle for this—for now."
She turned to Alric, who nodded slightly. She had seen enough.
As she stepped out, Chris screamed behind her, his voice hoarse and broken, "You’re just like me! You’ll become worse!"
Alric followed her quietly, placing his coat gently over her shoulders.
"You did good," he murmured.
Nora didn’t respond. Her face was pale, but her eyes were steady.
"Make sure he survives another day," Alric ordered one of the guards behind them. "She’s not finished with him yet."
"Thank you!" She knew he wanted to kill her. But he had given her the chance to collect herself because she could kill him.
Alric did not respond to her, he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her closer.
"Did she know?" he asked softly. Nora sighed, her eyes looking at him.
"She does. I am sure she has started acting already." her voice was dim. "But I don’t want to give up hope this easily. Perhaps, she would learn that she should not show loyalty on the wrong side."
Alric nodded with a grim face. "Would you like to go out and eat ice cream with me?" she was surprised since Alric did not like roaming leisurely or wasting time. He was a man of few words and often had a lot of things in his hand.
"You are free today?" she raised a brow, curious when he smiled.
"I am always free for you." that made her smile, her cheeks flushed and she nodded.
"A walk would surely help!" she nodded and he wrapped his arm around her waist and slowly guided her out of the room.
They took the elevator but instead returned to their car. He walked with her. She looked at the surroundings. They were far from the city. She did not even recognize this place.
"Where are we?" she asked curiously as she looked around at the empty fields.
"We are near the city. You can return there anytime you want. But do you like it here?" Nora looked around and nodded. The peace felt rare.
"I have brought these lands to make a new hospital in the countryside, it would be a good place to recuperate with old diseases and fight with new ones. but later, i decided to let this place be. It helps me in dealing with men like Chris. And it would serve a good place for our dates too."
"I am impressed by Mr Spencer. You can think about dates too?" she teased in a low voice.
"After the pain ends, would you like to host our marriage here?"
