Chapter 54 -: 54, Kieran VS Caspian
Chapter 54: Chapter: 54, Kieran VS Caspian
As they both stepped onto the arena, Kieran’s crystalline blue eyes met Caspian’s brown and fierce eyes. Caspian still held some resentment for this person who held the same level of potential as him, but instead of working hard, he just fooled around being intimate with a whore.
Their black and white hairs fluttered with the wind as if to give a faint hint of their unknown destiny.
As soon as the referee announced the beginning of their battle, both of them rushed at each other with extreme speed for someone of their level to even come close to. It was said to match the average speed of people at level 20 of this world.
It was considered pretty fast if you compare to the average people who are level 10 in this world. Most of the Level 10’s are kids who weren’t even 10 years old. But as people would expect, the natural way of level ascension is pretty slow the younger you are as it is a matter of slow but stable improvement of the body at the beginning.
With the kids bodies still not fully developed, they will naturally ascend slower than the others.
With their fast speed, Kieran and Caspian’s fist struck onto each other, releasing slight steam. They quickly backed away quite a distance. Eventually, Caspian summoned his sword from his storage ring and Kieran began using his spells.
Kieran, at first and foremost, summoned a mana shield in front of him. Even from the very beginning he awakened and formed his mana veins, his mana pool was three times the size of his classmates. Which is actually a rare occurrence called ’mana invasion’ to the body.
In this state, a person absorbs and can contain much more mana than other people. This results in them having the greatest potential as mages. The initial mana points are always counted as 1, which naturally gives him advantage over most people if compared in mana capacity.
After the mana shield was formed, he quickly summoned lighting in his hand that soon turned into a whip made of pure electric current.
Holding the whip in his hand, Kieran swung it at Caspian without any mercy. Caspian could only dodge as the whip’s impact was noticeably so strong that it could possibly even cut through his armor.
The whip was avoided by him and struck the ground where he stood a second ago. The ground was directly dug and the dirt nearby turned black with clear burns. After the first attack, Kieran made the whip disappear as it would be useless for the next attacks.
Caspian looked at Kieran with weariness, his eyes showing something deep that he didn’t recognize. But then the weariness turned into something else. A hint of recognition and something like determination appeared in its place.
Caspian quickly enveloped his sword in the familiar dark intent, its blade sizzling with heat and trembling in the raw power it was given.
He sped fast almost to the point no one’s eyes could catch up and swung his blade with much strength. Kieran was ready and poured more mana into the mana shield, making it more durable and enduring.
In just a split second, both of their forces collided with each other and a metallic sound rang out. Seeing that his attack turned out to have no effect, Caspian backed away, preparing for the next attack that he would pour every last bit of strength.
Kieran also noticed his move and dismissed the shield. He quickly manipulated his mana and condensed them into a mana blade, deciding to fight him melee this time. He looked at Caspian and noticed something.
Kieran had a passive skill, [Mana Affinity]. Through this, he could easily see the vastness of anyone’s mana pool. Not only that, he can also detect the mana dormant in nature, completely merged with very few ways to detect.
Through that sense, he realized that Caspian was investing every last bit of mana and pouring them onto the sword intent. His mana pool was already drained as the time to convert mana into intent was needed.
Seeing this, Kieran knew that it would be impossible for him to win with half assed effort. He also decided to put his all into it. He reached his left hand over the mana sword he was holding and started pouring mana quickly.
The blade on his hand was made out of pure mana, so it was easy to strengthen it and was quite fast. Soon, the mana blade reached its limit, and any extra mana he poured became something similar to the refined and condensed sword intent on Caspian’s sword.
Soon, both of their weapons were fully charged and their mana pool was almost drained completely. Using the last bit of strength they had left, they rushed at each other. From a distance, Caspian moved his body to jump high in the air, trying to use the force of gravity for his advantage.
Kieran looked at him descending, clearly intending to rip him apart as he prepared his sword to counter.
Their blades collided and a fierce pressure enveloped them that clearly came from their weapons. Sizzles could be heard as the air around them turned violent like that of a storm.
Both of them looked at each other’s eyes, neither intended on giving up. So, in the end, their weapons did.
A broken metal sound could be heard as both of them looked at their weapons in shock. Kieran’s mana blade and Caspian’s iron sword were shattered, falling on the ground piece by piece. With no support, Caspian’s sword intent and Kieran’s mana intent –is what he named it- vanished into thin air.
The mana blade soon dissipated into the air with no authority commanding it. They quickly came to their senses and were about to make another move when sudden, piercing and agonizing pain shot through their entire body.
They both yelped in agony as the reason was simple. The Mana Veins they created were literally dry right now and would take some time to work properly again as the mana accumulation needs time.
The reaction of the crowd was deadly silent with only their muffled pained grunts reverberated through the air.
