Chapter 74: 74 delicacies

The restaurant was bustling, but some people still noticed Su Yuanyuan. Goodness, bought ten portions of braised pork at once? Whose spoiled child is this?

The waiter brought out three large dishes, and Su Yuanyuan directly put them into her basket.

"Excuse me, pardon me," she said as she carried the basket out.

Still, she went to an alley where no one passed by and stored away the three dishes of braised pork. Only then did she leisurely stroll back into the restaurant again.

She ordered a portion of rice and a plate of sautéed liver. She completely trusted this chef, convinced that his sautéed liver must be delicious.

She wondered if he took on apprentices. Maybe she should ask?

She was truly conquered by his culinary skills. How wonderful it would be if she learned it herself in the future.

However, she knew the chances were slim. Nowadays, skills are passed from father to son.

When the waiter brought the sautéed liver, the taste conquered Su Yuanyuan once again.

This chef made sautéed liver using garlic sprouts. Su Yuanyuan ate a whole plate of sautéed liver and a bowl of rice.

She really ate too much, felt a bit restless sitting there. She scolded herself inwardly, so useless, eating until she was full.

There were still many people eating, and after Su Yuanyuan’s sautéed liver was served, several more people ordered the dish.

When they sold five portions, they stopped selling it as it was sold out.

Su Yuanyuan, having eaten too much, left the restaurant again to wander around nearby.

By two o’clock, she returned to the restaurant.

The offal was ready, and looking at the pig’s feet, they must be delicious.

She packed them into her container, paid, and left.

The master chef had gone home, so he wasn’t there.

After returning home, she fed the sheep and lit a fire.

There was a knock on the door outside, and she heard it was Hu Chunhua’s voice.

"Yuanyuan, did you go out today?"

"Yes, went to the county for a bit."

"Girl, did you finish shelling all the corn?"

"Yes, all shelled. I’ve been doing it for almost a week."

"That’s really fast. Here is some sticky sorghum rice; you can grind it into flour and steam sticky bean buns in the twelfth lunar month."

"Aunt, I might not be home for a while in the twelfth lunar month. Can you help me feed the sheep?"

"By the way, did you sell all your chickens, ducks, and geese?"

"Yes, they don’t lay eggs in winter. Aunt, please reserve thirty chickens and ducks and ten big geese for me."

"Alright, I’ll let them know. I’ll keep the first batch for you come spring.

By the way, where are you planning to go in the twelfth lunar month?"

"I don’t know yet, just thinking about going out for a look."

"What’s so great about outside? There are many photo opportunities; you should just honestly stay home and make clothes, shoes."

"Aunt, I’ll be fine. It’s just that I may need you to come over and help feed the sheep."

Hu Chunhua advised a few more words, seeing that the girl was determined to go out, and stopped persuading.

"Alright, I’ll come over to feed the sheep then."

Hu Chunhua went back, and in the evening, the family talked about Su Yuanyuan already having shaken all the corn.

"That girl is truly too strong-willed. Managed to do it all by herself.

Also, she said she wants to go out for a few days in the twelfth lunar month and asked me to help watch the sheep."

"Mom, where does Yuanyuan want to go?"

"She didn’t say, just mentioned wanting to go out for a bit."

Which kid doesn’t envy going out to play? But they knew it was unlikely.

The next day, Su Yuanyuan set out early with a basket, a chopping knife, an axe, and a sickle to the mountain.

She didn’t stop halfway. Headed straight to the spot where she cut firewood last year. But here there was none, had to go deeper in.

Whenever she discovered a dead tree, she would surely chop it down. Things were much better than last year now.

She also collected fungus. Cut plenty of hay, thinking about making some earthen bricks next year to build two side rooms since the courtyard was large anyway.

At four-thirty, she turned back down the mountain on time, packing the hay cut on the way into her basket, and put what couldn’t fit into her space.

At this pace, within five days, she could gather a lot of firewood.

Back at home, the dead trees were placed in the courtyard. She would wait for a few days when she had time to split them open.

The next day, at the same time, she went up the mountain again. Today’s haul was also quite good.

She collected ten more trees today. On the third day, she had even better luck, catching two wild hares.

She didn’t eat rabbit meat, so she put them directly into her space, not knowing if she’d encounter them again later.

There were already over forty dead trees in the courtyard, so on the fourth day, she didn’t go up the mountain.

At home, she used a handsaw to cut them apart first, then could split them with an axe.

One day wasn’t enough, continued the next day, finally got so annoyed, just stored them in the woodshed, planning to deal with them when free.

Heading back up the mountain, she was approaching the mountaintop more and more. In reality, this was a mountain range, and Su Yuanyuan considered whether to check out another peak?

Last year she even encountered a Wild Boar. How come none appeared this year?

Just as she was thinking this, she heard noises in the distance.

Su Yuanyuan’s eyes brightened, could it be that you get what you think about?

The distance shouldn’t be close; she needed to hurry over. Wouldn’t it be a shame if they ran away?

Leaving only the chopping knife in her hand, she dashed forward.

The sound got closer, and she found many dead trees along the way, which were all hers.

Suddenly, Su Yuanyuan stopped in her tracks; something was off. The sound was quite chaotic, not from just one or two subjects.

Torn in thought, should she go over or not?

Greed got the better of her in the end, constantly reminding herself about wealth found in danger. She wouldn’t be satisfied without checking it out.

She carefully approached. Through a patch of forest, she emerged to see a terrifying scene; it was ten wolves surrounding six Wild Boars, caught in a brawl.

Su Yuanyuan grinned, this was great, she wasn’t worried about the wolves eating the boars, as they had no spare time; these were all hers anyway.

Excited, Su Yuanyuan’s breath quickened. Suddenly, an electric baton appeared in her other hand. She felt much more confident now.

She eagerly watched from her hiding spot; suddenly, one of the wolves glanced in her direction, and wow, what a piercing stare that was.

Heh, sis wasn’t raised to scare easily.

The Wild Boars attempted to break out of the wolves’ encirclement, but how could they manage?

It wasn’t until Su Yuanyuan felt her legs get sore that there were five wolves and three Wild Boars on the ground.

The Wild Boars’ fighting prowess was impressive.

The remaining five wolves and three Wild Boars were exhausted as well. Su Yuanyuan hoped the fight would end soon before any could escape.

After about ten more minutes, only two wolves and one Wild Boar remained.

They were all panting. Preparing for a final showdown.

Su Yuanyuan grew impatient; why weren’t they attacking yet? Plus, the wolves howled earlier, seeming to call backup, which was absolutely not okay.
