Chapter 175: 175 Wild Boar

When they finally saw the wild boar with their own eyes, Yuanyuan excitedly produced an electric baton.

Regardless, she rushed forward, finding it rather amusing. She remembered how during her first time doing this, she had dashed forward like a naïve big sister.

Tan Shaoting followed, eyes wide open. What kind of move was this? Yet, his actions overtook his thoughts, and he ran after her.

Yuanyuan turned the electric baton to its maximum. One wild boar dropped instantly, she swung back and another boar was down. In less than a minute, four out of the five wild boars were felled.

The last one charged directly at Yuanyuan.

Tan Shaoting saw the girl jab the baton at the wild boar, and it collapsed, twitching on the ground for a while.

"Impressive."

"The wild boar isn’t dead yet; let’s bleed it out quickly."

Their speed was impressive, and using superpowers made it quite effortless.

In an hour, all five boars were dead.

With superpowers and Tan Shaoting at her side, Yuanyuan didn’t bother to pack up the boars. Considering the cold weather, it would be hard to explain if the boars weren’t frozen.

"Should we wait here?"

Yuanyuan nodded with a smile, "Let’s sit and rest for a bit. What do you want to eat? I have beef jerky here; maybe it’ll attract something big?"

Tan Shaoting wasn’t as interested in food as much now; his full attention was on the baton in Yuanyuan’s hand. What was this thing?

So, he asked directly.

Yuanyuan handed the electric baton to Tan Shaoting, and then pulled out a woven corn husk mat and sat on the ground.

"This is an electric baton. Right, just like you thought. It charges, stores electricity, and with a switch, can knock down hundred-pound boars easily. It’s actually for self-defense. If it can work on wild boars, imagine on people."

"It can recharge?"

Yuanyuan nodded, "Yes, next time we go back we’ll stay in the Capital for a few days, find a hotel with electricity, and recharge the baton fully."

Tan Shaoting examined the baton in his hand; it was very useful. The girl said it’s for future self-defense. It’s pretty handy. This way, there wouldn’t be much danger going out.

Yuanyuan’s luck was unbeatable, both of them sensed it. Three more large wild boars appeared.

Yuanyuan smiled so broadly that her eyes squinted. "Haha, no stopping this kind of luck."

Tan Shaoting also laughed, "Yeah, you’ve got great luck."

Both of them sat and waited. They saw the wild boars gnawing on the frozen winter melon, so they surrounded them.

"Let me try."

Yuanyuan had no objection and instructed him on switches and power control.

Tan Shaoting noticeably moved more gracefully than impulsive Yuanyuan, who charged like a cannonball.

These three went down too. Tan Shaoting felt it was really easy. Now he was eager to find a city with electricity to recharge this thing.

Tan Shaoting waved and gathered up the eight wild boars.

"Are we going to sell all of them here?"

Yuanyuan shook her head, there wasn’t a market large enough here.

"Just leave three here. Let’s go, we’ll probably reach the county by midnight."

"Then we don’t need to rush. Let’s take it slow or perhaps rest here for a while?"

Yuanyuan shook her head, "Let’s go down the mountain."

It’s not safe here. Better to find a place to rest on the road.

However, at the edge of the pine forest, they did have lunch on the mountain.

They passed by the house Yuanyuan used to live in. "Look, that was once my home, built it up little by little."

"Reluctant to leave it?"

Yuanyuan smiled and shook her head, "Not really. Just a sigh of nostalgia."

The two left the village; Yuanyuan was completely unaware of how the Su Family cursed as they tried to chase her without catching up as she headed towards the township.

When they reached the county, it was already past midnight, around two. They left the cart and three large boars, along with ten buckets of pig blood, in front of Old Yang’s door.

Old Yang, being elderly, was a light sleeper and came out with a coat on after hearing the knock. "Who is it?"

"Uncle Yang, it’s me."

Old Yang quickly came to open the door. Seeing three beasts on the cart, he smiled so broadly you couldn’t see his eyes below his grin.

He helped push it directly into the side room.

"Girl, you really are lucky. Wait here, I’ll find a few people to divvy up the pigs right away."

"Uncle Yang, we’re exhausted. It’s all up to you now."

"Hurry inside then. Your Aunt is inside."

Old Yang brought them inside to introduce them to his wife.

"This is the little girl, ah. She’s grown so well, come on, get on the heated brick bed. Are you cold?"

"Aunt, I’m not cold, just really tired."

"Get up there, hurry onto the bed."

While they talked, Old Yang went out to find some people.

The pig he kept was shared with a few old buddies. They complained it was too little, but now they wouldn’t have anything to say.

Both got on the brick bed, only taking off their coats, and lay down to sleep.

When Yuanyuan woke up, it was daylight, a little past eight, and Tan Shaoting was gone.

She wasn’t in a rush to go out, just listened to the sounds outside that suggested they were dividing the meat.

Lazily she leaned on the bed, not even bothering to fold the quilt, just covering her legs with it.

Around ten o’clock, Old Yang and Tan Shaoting came in.

"Girl, I kept fifty pounds of meat, sold the rest—over thirteen hundred pounds—for two yuan a pound."

"Thank you, Uncle Yang."

"Haha, they should be thanking you; the meat you gave out made them all delighted."

Old Yang spoke while placing a cloth bag on the bed, and added a hundred yuan himself. "All the money is here."

Yuanyuan didn’t count it but organized it and put it aside.

"Uncle Yang, didn’t you say there’s something good? When will we go get it?"

"This afternoon we’ll have a look, and if you like it, we’ll get it tonight."

For lunch, Yuanyuan cooked two-millet pancakes, stewed noodles with pork, adding potatoes as well. There was also cabbage stewed with blood tofu.

All four of them ate very contently. A bit of chili in the wild boar meat masked the gamey taste, making it deliciously appetizing.

After lunch, Old Yang took the two of them out.

"Old Han, bring out your good stuff."

"You just want the goldfish?"

"Uncle Han, what else is there?"

"Girl, don’t listen to him, it used to be valuable, but not anymore now."

"There are some books and paintings too."

"How much are they for?"

"No matter the price, I can’t part with them."

"Old chap, you can’t just cherish it, right? If it’s discovered, how will you handle it?"
