Chapter 419: Chapter 419: Let Your Mother Jump Off the Hospital Roof in the Middle of the Night!

"Sister-in-law, I’m heading to the factory first. If anything comes up, have Xiaohui call me there," Tong Yaohui said.

Si Weimin was indeed quite busy lately. There were many problems at his factory. His personal life had been chaotic recently and he hadn’t been able to manage his business as well as he wanted. A batch of goods had caused trouble and the situation was now quite thorny.

Ever since he divorced Yuan Caizhen, those who used to respect him out of regard for the Yuan family had begun to ignore him. Only recently did Si Weimin realize that the respect he thought he had earned was actually due to his connections.

"Okay, you go ahead and take care of your business! Don’t worry about things here," Lin Fengying waved him off.

As she watched Si Weimin leave the ward, Lin Fengying began to pour out her grievances to Lin Man. She even revealed that Si Chen wanted to sever their mother-son relationship. Seeing Lin Man listening to her troubles patiently, Lin Fengying was worried that she might form a negative opinion of her.

Wiping away her tears, she asked, "Manman, do you think I’m a bad mother-in-law?"

Lin Man sat by the bed, took hold of Lin Fengying’s hand, and reassured her, "Aunt Lin, you’re overthinking it. I would never think such things. It’s Tong Yao who was in the wrong. She’s been spoiled by my uncle from a young age. Our family was worried when she got married so young. She’s too immature for marriage and it was bound to cause trouble."

"As a daughter-in-law, she should respect her in-laws and prioritize family harmony. It was completely wrong of her to manipulate Doctor Si into severing ties with you."

"Besides, you were only trying to bless them with the baby’s aura for their own wellbeing. How could they not understand that and act against you? If they had an unreasonable mother-in-law, their family would’ve been a mess a long time ago."

This appealed directly to Lin Fengying’s sentiments, reaffirming her belief that she had done nothing wrong. Her eyes welled up with tears as she clutched Lin Man’s hand and said,

"I just wish you had married Xiaochen instead. You and Xiaochen would have been a perfect match! If both of you were married, our family wouldn’t be in this chaos."

Lin Man’s cheeks turned slightly red and she gave a shy laugh, "Maybe Doctor Si and I weren’t meant to be!"

"We’ll just have to see," Lin Fengying responded, "Tong Yao is moving out of our family compound today. After the New Year, I’ll have her and Xiaochen get a divorce. If you’re still interested in Xiaochen, I can help you two get together."

Thinking of the tea shop, Lin Fengying added, "Manman, I consider you like a daughter and won’t hide anything from you. When Tong Yao and Xiaochen divorce, she will have to split the two tea shops with Xiaochen. If you do end up with Xiaochen, you’d be in charge of managing the shops. If you do well, there can even be more branches. I’m not educated so I may not understand these things, but you educated young people might."

Lin Man’s eyes lit up slightly, and her mind began to work, "Aunt Lin, are you saying that if Doctor Si divorces Tong Yao, he could get two tea shops?"

"Weimin said these are marital assets. They must be divided evenly," Lin Fengying replied.

"But dividing only the tea shops won’t be enough," Lin Man reminded her softly, "Aunt Lin, you all might not know this yet. I heard from my parents that my uncle bought two plots of land in the suburbs. He plans on building a factory there. Why would he use only his pension for these purchases? These must be bought with Tong Yao’s money, making them part of their shared assets."

Originally, Lin Man didn’t have any thoughts about Si Chen. She was just following orders from Zhao Wenkai to break up Si Chen and Tong Yao, a task that she was happy to do. It didn’t affect her at all and it was also a chance for revenge against Tong Yao.

She had initially thought it would be difficult for them to divorce. It was a surprise to find out they were about to divorce so easily, and that they shared marital property that had to be divided after the divorce. This reminder from Lin Fengying suddenly made Lin Man realize the opportunity she had in front of her.

Si Chen was absolutely excellent; Lin Fengying liked her and their chances of getting together after Si Chen’s divorce was very high. She could maintain their relationship and regard Si Chen as a backup.

If something went wrong with Zhao Wenkai, marrying Si Chen wouldn’t be a bad option.

Tong Yao’s tea shops made a considerable income each month. They were able to buy land and build houses because of this income.

The price of land in Kyoto was soaring. If she could obtain these assets, Si Chen could save at least a decade of hard work.

"Are you saying that Tong Yaohui used Tong Yao’s money to buy land in the suburbs?" Lin Fengying exclaimed, astonished. How could she not have known about such a big matter? She wondered if Xiaochen knew about it.

"They even started constructing the factory," said Lin Man, nodding. "Right now, those two plots of land are worth quite a lot. If they complete the factory, they could rent it out and the monthly rental income would be even more than the tea shops’."

Upon hearing this, Lin Fengying grew agitated, her hands trembling. In her eyes, all these assets belonged to the Si family. To her, Tong Yao was secretly using the Si family’s money to support her natal family.

A woman who had scrimped and saved for a decade, sometimes not even being able to afford meals, was now hurt immensely upon learning that Tong Yao had spent such large sums to buy land for her natal family.

...

Meanwhile, Tong Yao had just returned home and barely had time to pack up before Si Xiaohui showed up. She sat down arrogantly in the living room and said with a face of disdain,

"My mom told me to watch you pack up, in case you refuse to leave."

Tong Yao crossed her arms and laughed coldly, "Yeah! I don’t want to leave. Go back now and tell your mom to jump off the hospital roof in the middle of the night!" Even if she had to leave, she wouldn’t let Si Xiaohui take the slightest advantage of her.

"You..." Si Xiaohui was taken aback, "Tong Yao, why are you being so vicious? Do you think if my mom died, my big brother would still be with you?"

Tong Yao rolled her eyes and laughed at her, "If she doesn’t die, would she let Ah Chen be with me? In any case, whether she lives or dies has nothing to do with me."

The fact that she didn’t slap Si Xiaohui across the face was proof that she had become more patient and big-hearted.

"You..." Si Xiaohui was left ranting due to Tong Yao’s mockery. She sputtered for a while, erroneously thinking that Tong Yao was going to backtrack and internally cursing her for being shameless.

She originally wanted to run back and complain, but then rethought her decision. What if her mom really did jump from the roof?

Regardless of whether Tong Yao cared about her mom’s life or death, she had to care.

While she was wrestling with this dilemma, she saw Tong Yao return to her room. Meanwhile, a fat civet cat jumped in through the window, meowed at Tong Yao a couple of times and followed her out of the door.

Si Xiaohui sneered silently. She had never seen a civet cat that fat before. It could barely even walk, not to mention catch mice.
