Chapter 643: Chapter 643: (1st Update)
"Jin Yu, do you think Sisi and Ruiyang can really make it happen? I feel like it’s kind of unreliable," Xu Niannian had learned about Xu Sisi and Jin Ruiyang’s impending engagement party the next day.
Lying in bed, Jin Yu poked the approaching Xiao Bao away, "Why do you think so? Didn’t you used to think highly of them? You even asked me to help you get information on Ruiyang for Sisi’s sake."
"Wasn’t that before?" Xu Niannian picked up Xiao Bao, who had been poked and rolled over, and pinched the doll’s chubby little face.
Xiao Bao, feeling put out, pouted, giving Jin Yu a look of disdain similar to that of a Siberian Husky.
"I feel like Sisi and Ruiyang are being rushed into this, like ducks being herded onto a perch. Wouldn’t that be bad? Should I talk to Grandma about it?"
Xu Niannian usually didn’t interfere in other people’s romantic affairs, but she always felt this decision was made too hastily.
The main reason for the engagement was her second uncle’s lunatic episode.
And clearly, Xu Sisi was opposed to it.
She had come to Xu Niannian several times to talk about it.
Jin Yu, seeing Xu Niannian’s serious expression, found it somewhat amusing, "Don’t worry, Ruiyang knows what he’s doing; he’s dependable."
Xu Niannian, recalling what Jin Ruiyang had jokingly said in the hospital, didn’t agree.
"I don’t see how he has anything to do with being dependable."
If he were dependable, would he have done so many silly things?
"Enough, you don’t need to worry about them. Grandma may be authoritarian, but she’s not unreasonable. If Sisi really doesn’t want to get engaged to Ruiyang, there’ll be plenty of chances to explain to Grandma. The fact that she’s been dragging her feet without clarification isn’t that because she has feelings for Ruiyang too?"
"That seems about right." Xu Niannian thought about Xu Sisi’s personality; if her partner wasn’t Jin Ruiyang, she would’ve made a huge scene, staunchly resisting.
After thinking it over, Xu Niannian stopped worrying.
After all, personal feelings are for each person to work out themselves.
But then Xu Niannian remembered something very important.
"Right, Jin Yu, didn’t you say that after we return to Kyoto, we’re going to have another wedding?"
Just as Jin Yu was about to start reading, his actions paused, and he turned to look at the two kids on the bed: Xiao Bao was gently playing with his fingers, while Xiao Bao was barking at him ferociously as if he was a little puppy.
"The kids are already so big, still have another one?" Jin Yu replied bluntly.
Xu Niannian puffed her cheeks, "That’s true."
Jin Yu grunted and turned over to continue reading.
Xu Niannian rolled her eyes in response; this man truly didn’t know how to read the room.
Xu Niannian poked Xiao Bao, who was also puffing up his face. Xiao Bao looked up and ’rawr’ bit her finger. Xiao Bao, who had no teeth, could only gnaw with his gums.
It tickled Xu Niannian’s finger, and she pinched his chubby little face, "You, always biting a finger, you’ll end up not finding a wife."
Xu Niannian was just joking when she said that, but Xiao Bao rolled his eyes so dramatically that she felt like they might not come back down.
"You little rascal." Xu Niannian couldn’t help but laugh.
The next day, which was Xu Sisi and Jin Ruiyang’s engagement party, Jin Ruiyang rushed back early in the morning.
The incessant knocking on the door woke Xu Niannian up early in the morning.
"Jin Yu, Jin Yu..."
Under normal circumstances, Jin Ruiyang wouldn’t be so impolite, but the situation was different now, and he was panicked.
This was his first engagement, and he had no idea what he should do.
Xiao Bao and Xiao Bao woke up to the noise, the two chubby toddlers rubbing their eyes in a bewildered manner.
As the cacophony outside continued, Xu Niannian rolled over, tucked the kids in, and grumbled, "Jin Yu, get up, Ruiyang is calling you."
Jin Yu didn’t need Xu Niannian to tell him; he had already gotten out of bed to answer the door.
"What’s up?" Jin Yu, with an unmistakable look of annoyance on his face, asked.
Jin Ruiyang, dressed in clothes stained with mud, pulled Jin Yu out without considering that Jin Yu was still convalescing.
"It’s a big deal, come with me."
Jin Yu knew that today was his engagement with Xu Sisi, and he also knew that the engagement wouldn’t be too grand, but seeing Jin Ruiyang so anxious, he refrained from commenting.
Jin Ruiyang dragged Jin Yu into the room, then left him to his own devices, rummaging through the closet.
In no time at all, a dozen outfits flew out of the closet and onto the bed. Jin Yu yawned, ruffled his messy hair, flipped back the covers, and climbed onto the bed to lie down.
Sure enough, he had the foresight; Jin Ruiyang spent over an hour rummaging before calling him awake.
"Jin Xiaoyu, get up now," Jin Ruiyang said as he pulled Jin Yu from the bed.
Jin Yu, his bangs hanging limply, saw the pile of clothes on the bed, raised his hand to his forehead, and sleek fingers combed through his hair, pressing it back.
"What are you trying to do?" His tone was particularly impatient.
"You see, which set do I look good in?" Jin Ruiyang was not at all put off by Jin Yu’s attitude, and asked eagerly.
Jin Yu glanced at the clothes, an assortment of white shirts and white trousers.
With a headache, he massaged his temples, "You’re getting engaged, why are you dressing for a funeral? You picked these?"
Upon hearing this, Jin Ruiyang thought he had a point.
All those clothes were from when he used to pretend to be eloquent and elegant like a young master.
