Chapter 505: Chapter 504: Rage (2nd update)

"Oh, still calling him Brother Zhiwen, aren’t you affectionate?" Xu Sanya said with a sneer and sarcasm.

Her gaze towards Zhao Shuihua was clearly displeased.

Zhao Shuihua’s heart skipped a beat, and she looked at Xu Sanya worriedly, "Sister Sanya, have you misunderstood something?"

Zhao Shuihua was extremely anxious inside; she wanted to develop a relationship with Du Zhiwen, but he was such a prude, oblivious to her hints.

Now she hadn’t even managed to hook him, and Zhao Shuihua didn’t want Xu Sanya to find out.

As for Du Zhiwen, he was choked up by Xu Sanya’s mocking words and bellowed, "Let’s talk at home."

"Would’ve been better to do that earlier," Xu Sanya retorted with a curl of her lip.

That comment infuriated Du Zhiwen.

Gathering their things, the trio rushed out of the hospital.

Du Zhiwen had a broken leg, and under normal circumstances, Xu Sanya would definitely have supported him.

But now, he could only hop on the foot that wasn’t injured.

Like a clown.

In all his years, Du Zhiwen had never been so humiliated.

Zhao Shuihua wanted to help Du Zhiwen, but after Xu Sanya’s inexplicable remarks earlier, she didn’t dare to follow her heart.

If she did have a mind to, it would have to be when she wasn’t around.

So Du Zhiwen just had to hop on one leg towards their home.

Luckily, their house was right next to the hospital.

But they still had to climb up to the fifth floor.

In the end, Xu Sanya’s heart softened. She grumbled with her mouth but still went over to help Du Zhiwen.

When Du Zhiwen saw Xu Sanya come over to help, much of his anger dissipated, but he didn’t speak to Xu Sanya either.

Zhao Shuihua, on the other hand, was ignored by everyone and silently followed behind them.

Xu Sanya didn’t shoo her away. She still had to wait for her to go back home and clear out her own luggage.

Even though Xu Sanya had not personally witnessed Zhao Shuihua doing anything with Du Zhiwen, she believed her niece’s words.

Compared to Du Zhiwen and Zhao Shuihua, she certainly trusted her niece and daughter’s words more.

After all, her niece was wealthy and sought nothing from her. If there was any interest to be had, it was her wanting something from her niece.

At the doorstep of their home, Xu Sanya directly took out the keys to open the door, without calling for anyone inside to open it.

Once the door was open, Xu Sanya helped Du Zhiwen inside.

As soon as they entered, they saw Zhao Zhenzhen cracking sunflower seeds like she owned the place, sitting on the sofa with her feet propped on the coffee table, scattering seed shells all over.

She was engrossed in the television program.

This black and white TV had only been bought after Xu Sanya joined Xu Niannian’s buttered-noodle shop and saved enough money.

Only two or three families had one in the entire neighborhood.

Weiwei had been elated at the time.

Upon seeing Zhao Zhenzhen’s mess of sunflower seed shells everywhere, Du Zhiwen frowned subconsciously.

Xu Sanya also remained silent, helping Du Zhiwen to sit down on the sofa.

It was only then that Zhao Zhenzhen noticed their arrival. She hurriedly took her feet off the coffee table, pretended to be well-behaved, and said, "Uncle, Aunt, you’re back?"

Zhao Shuihua looked disapprovingly at her daughter; she really lacked tact.

After Zhao Shuihua gave her daughter a sharp look, Zhao Zhenzhen quickly handed a cup of water to Xu Sanya and Du Zhiwen, "Uncle, Aunt, please have some water."

Xu Sanya brushed her hand away: "Forget it, I don’t think I need that title of Aunt. I didn’t even know when my Zhiwen got a cousin."

The words were quite rude.

Suddenly, the surrounding atmosphere fell silent.

Zhao Zhenzhen didn’t understand what had happened outside, so she looked at her mother, seeking help.

At this moment, Zhao Shuihua finally realized that Xu Sanya’s anger wasn’t directed at Du Zhiwen, but at her.

She hadn’t been like this before. What had happened in the meantime?

Zhao Shuihua’s mind immediately went to Xu Niannian.

When she had tried to curry favor with that dead girl, she never got a good look from her.

Now that Xu Sanya had returned from a trip and was also giving her the cold shoulder, Zhao Shuihua concluded it must be Xu Niannian that had spoken ill of her.

But she couldn’t say this outright.

Seeing Du Zhiwen’s sullen face, Zhao Shuihua didn’t make a scene but looked at Xu Sanya with a wronged expression.

"Sister Sanya, did you maybe hear some nonsense from other people?"

She said it with such an emotional twist, almost on the verge of tears, as if Xu Sanya was the one who had wronged her.

It was as if she was trying to make herself look pitiful while also frequently glancing towards Du Zhiwen.

Although Xu Sanya’s face was tense, she did not forget to observe Zhao Shuihua.

Seeing her pretending to be pitiful while repeatedly glancing at her man, Xu Sanya was so angry she wanted to hit someone.

She thought, ’Humph, truly not a good thing, just as Niannian said.’

Just as Zhao Shuihua suspected, Du Zhiwen’s thoughts turned to Xu Niannian.

Already disliking that entire family, upon hearing her comments and seeing Xu Sanya lash out based on someone else’s words, his poor and insecure ego felt like a weak spot had been hit, and erupted instantly.

"Xu Sanya, watch how you speak. How has Shuihua offended you, to warrant this kind of talk? Didn’t your mother teach you the word ’manners’?"

At this point, as if remembering something, Du Zhiwen suddenly let out a cold laugh: "That’s right, what would a common country woman know about manners."

"Du Zhiwen, you’re looking for death," Xu Sanya snapped up to her feet, and with one swift slap, struck him across the face.
