Chapter 467: Chapter 466: (1 more update)

Jin Yu had never seen Jin Ruiyang this despondent before.

He reached out, grabbed his arm, and pulled him up, "I’ll drink with you."

Jin Ruiyang let out a low laugh, one hand covering his forehead, "Jin Xiaoyu, do you think I’m especially useless, not even able to win over a girl?"

Jin Yu glanced at him, "Good that you know."

"Tch, why are you still so annoying?" Jin Ruiyang said, clearly irritated.

"Forget it, since you’re willing to drink with me, I won’t hold it against you."

They returned to the room, and Jin Ruiyang took out his best liquor, joining Jin Yu in the study.

The study was usually where they discussed important matters, but today it was used for drinking.

"Come on, Jin Yu, today we won’t stop until we’re completely drunk."

Jin Ruiyang poured a bit of his beloved red wine for Jin Yu and filled his own glass to the brim.

Without waiting for Jin Yu to clink glasses, he grabbed the glass and downed it in one go.

In normal times, Jin Ruiyang would never do this; if he saw others drink like that, he’d mock them for ’chewing peonies.’

The taste of the red wine was slightly intoxicating, and Jin Ruiyang’s alcohol tolerance wasn’t particularly high. After one glass, his thoughts began to scatter.

Jin Yu just sat opposite him, watching him pour his own drinks.

Jin Yu said he would accompany him, but Jin Ruiyang was only focused on his own drinking.

After several glasses, Jin Ruiyang suddenly wiped the liquor off his chin, picked up another bottle, and started chugging straight from the bottle.

This time it was baijiu, the spicy flavor choking him as it hit his throat, making his eyes redden and provoking a fit of coughing.

After some violent coughing, he gave a wry laugh and raised the bottle to Jin Yu.

"Jin Yu, do you think I’m a fucking idiot?" Jin Ruiyang’s eyes were blurry but his words were surprisingly clear.

Jin Ruiyang sighed, "Never mind, let’s not talk about this anymore."

He laughed at himself, noticing that Jin Yu hadn’t even touched his drink, and asked with a smile, "Didn’t you say you’d drink with me? Is this how you accompany me?"

Jin Yu crossed his arms and lounged back in his chair like a big boss, legs crossed.

Looking at Jin Ruiyang’s dispirited state was truly distressing for him.

"Is this how you plan to go on?" Jin Yu asked.

"Heh..."

Jin Ruiyang chuckled with a dismissive air, giving Jin Yu a wan smile as he held up his drink, "What else can I do? She’s already got someone she likes."

Jin Ruiyang, feeling stifled in his chest, stopped drowning his sorrows in drink, slamming the glass onto the table and leaning languidly back in his chair, just like Jin Yu.

"Can you believe I’ve turned into this pathetic state, getting drunk over a woman? It’s laughable."

He shook his head, his face tinged with the blush of drunkenness and an expression of helpless amusement.

"Don’t worry, it’s just this once. It’ll never happen again; I’ll take care of my feelings properly."

He continued as if talking to himself, not getting a response from Jin Yu after a long speech, and irritably kicked the table.

"Jin Xiaoyu, why are you ignoring me?"

Jin Yu rubbed his temples, feeling a headache come on, realizing that accompanying him to get drunk was a mistake.

"Xu Sisi is still young; her current ’likes’ are not set in stone. She might just forget them later. Buck up, don’t give up before you’ve even started."

"Still young?"

Jin Ruiyang chuckled sarcastically, propping himself up on the table, "Jin Yu, have you forgotten that Xu Sisi is only a year younger than your Niannian?"

"When you got engaged to Niannian, she was only 17. If you say her feelings don’t count, then you shouldn’t take your wife’s affection for you seriously either; she might just forget about you later."

Jin Ruiyang now felt an irresistible urge to seize the opportunity for a good round of sarcasm.

Jin Yu, seeing his irritating expression, would have actually liked to drag him out and punch him a few times if he wasn’t in such pain right now.

How dare he jinx him.

Seeing Jin Ruiyang half-drunk, Jin Yu furrowed his brows, deciding to get him completely drunk.

"Drink."

Jin Ruiyang glanced at the baijiu handed to him, pursed his lips, and, recalling the pungent taste, pushed it away with his hand, "No more, I don’t need to drown my sorrows right now. After sobering up, I’ll be as good as new."

"Let’s see how ’good’ you’ll be in a few minutes," Jin Yu laughed lightly.

"Tch, what a way to talk," Jin Ruiyang shook his head, refilling his glass with red wine.

"Really planning to give up?" Jin Yu asked him.

Jin Ruiyang pursed his lips, and because of the question, the wine glass halted at his lips.

He thought of Xu Sisi’s words, his Adam’s apple moved awkwardly, hardening slightly.

He hummed a low "Mhm," very softly, as if bubbling up from his throat, his voice sounding a bit muffled.

After that, he tilted his head back and started to drink.

Not with the usual grace and small sips, but with his mouth wide open, drinking like water, gulping it down.

The wine, fragrant with alcohol, began to run down the corners of his mouth, slowly seeping into his white shirt.

The red liquid trickled down, winding over his fair neck.

Jin Ruiyang closed his eyes, feeling a bit astringent.

After finishing the drink in one go, the glass rolled out of his hand onto the floor, and he had no intention of picking it up.

"That’s enough, Jin Yu, you don’t have to stay with me. I want to be alone."

He forced himself to stand, his figure swaying slightly, Jin Yu swiftly grabbed his arm.

"I’ll help you back so you can get some good sleep. Think about whether or not you want to give up. Whatever decision you make, I’ll support you."
