Chapter 420: Chapter 419: (1 more update)

The hotel staff looked at the pair of large and small before them, both of whom were staring at him with wide eyes.

With a sense of helplessness, the staff member said, "Ma’am, it’s not that I won’t let you stay, but the money you’ve given just isn’t enough?"

Yang Cuihua pursed her lips, but she didn’t show any sign of helplessness. She glanced outside where the woman who had tried to deceive her was still loitering.

She had been hanging around for quite some time but refused to leave.

Yang Cuihua had the intuition that this was definitely a bad person.

"Big brother, do you see that woman outside?" Yang Cuihua planned to discuss the situation with the hotel manager.

The hotel staff had his mouth twitch when she called him big brother.

I call you ma’am and you call me big brother?

"I see her," he replied unenthusiastically.

"That person doesn’t look like a good person to me; I reckon she’s trying to trick me and my child. I’ll tell you, I’m from out of town, here to find my daughter," Yang Cuihua said.

She paused when she mentioned her beloved daughter, as she had a habit of bragging about her a bit.

She didn’t care about the occasion or place; she just started bragging.

"Let me tell you, my daughter is a big boss. The factory she built is doing business that’s nearly spread to every city in the south. If you let us stay for one night, big brother, we won’t stay for free. Later, I’ll let my daughter pay you ten times the room rate."

For once, Yang Cuihua struck a rather imposing figure.

The hotel staff looked at her expressionlessly, not even bothering to roll his eyes.

He thought this ma’am seemed more like the bad person.

Just by looking at her face and mouth, you could tell she wasn’t good news.

"Ma’am, I’m sorry, but I’m not the owner here, just an employee, and I don’t have the authority to let you stay for a night. Your money is enough for you to stay at another inn outside. Go outside and head forward, there are plenty of inns there, you can go check them out," he suggested.

Could Yang Cuihua know there were inns nearby?

After all, they were by the train station.

But the issue was that there was a long stretch of pitch-dark road ahead, and she was with a child, not knowing how many accomplices those swindlers outside might have.

She wouldn’t foolishly rush out there.

Since they weren’t letting her stay, Yang Cuihua tried a different approach: "Then, do you think this bit of money could let us mother and child make do just in the lobby for one night?"

The hotel staff was immediately startled. If they weren’t staying in a room, they wouldn’t need to spend a penny, but he couldn’t let them stay for free.

Otherwise, if his bloodsucking boss found out, he was sure to dock his salary.

After thinking it over, the young man said, "Alright then, there’s a chair over there. If you want to sleep, sleep there."

Upon hearing his agreement, Yang Cuihua couldn’t help but cheer gleefully, "Thank you, big brother!"

After getting permission, Yang Cuihua quickly scooped up Duoyu from the ground and walked over to the bench.

Mother and child ended up sleeping on the hard bench.

The trafficker outside, having been humiliated by Yang Cuihua, was determined to find a chance to trick her into the mountains to be sold as forced labor.

If all else failed, sell her to some old bachelor, and at the very least, take her child away.

The entire night, they prowled around by the roadside.

Before long, Yang Cuihua had fallen asleep, snoring loudly with Duoyu in her arms while Duoyu, with round eyes, stared at the hotel staff member.

The hotel guy suddenly felt that the scene was somewhat creepy.

"Little guy, what are you staring at me for?" he couldn’t help but ask.

Duoyu blinked his eyes, "Brother, I need to pee."

The hotel guy was helpless: "Go to the doorway to pee. I’ll keep an eye on you."

Duoyu quickly wriggled out from Yang Cuihua’s embrace; she continued to snore.

Duoyu scampered to the doorway.

When the woman outside saw Duoyu run out, her eyes lit up like a cat spotting a mouse.

Finally, she had her chance.

When the hotel guy saw Duoyu hadn’t come back after a long time, he was suddenly alarmed. No way, he thought as he hurried outside. Surely enough, the little kid was gone.

The prowling woman outside had disappeared too.

The hotel guy was genuinely scared, "Oh no, could the old ma’am have been telling the truth? Was that a trafficker outside?"

This was bad.

Fear cooled his heart when he realized he had lost sight of the child. It took him a moment to respond, but he wasn’t the kid’s family, and he had no obligation to help the old ma’am watch her child.

It was her own fault for sleeping so deeply and not keeping an eye on her own child; he couldn’t be blamed.

To avoid any trouble, the hotel guy rushed back inside to wait, pretending he hadn’t noticed Duoyu going out.

If the old ma’am asked, he would just say he didn’t know.

The trafficker directly carried off Duoyu, who being small and weak, was no match for the burly captor and was unable to make any noise because his mouth was covered.

Duoyu immediately realized this was a bad person and struggled furiously. Because he was chubby, his struggles were not weak.

"Keep it down," the same woman who wanted to deceive Yang Cuihua whispered to the burly man holding Duoyu.

The big man looked very impatient, "This kid is too noisy; let’s just knock him out. It’s dark and no one will notice."

"Are you crazy? We’re near a train station, knocking him out will make people even more suspicious."

She glanced around and slowly walked over, hypocritically saying, "Little friend, how about Auntie take you to buy some treats? Be a good boy, and if you behave, Auntie will take you back to find your mom. Auntie is friends with your mom, we were just playing with you."

At six years old, Duoyu understood a lot.
