Chapter 370: Chapter 369: (2 more updates)
Xu Wentian had reunited with the old lady and naturally wanted to call Xu Dawei’s family and Xu Sanya back.
Unfortunately, Xu Sanya’s husband had taken their daughter to the neighboring city to play, as a reward for her good exam scores.
However, Xu Dawei, Xu Sanya, Yang Cuihua, and others all came.
All of the Xu family members sat neatly in the main hall, and the old lady announced Xu Wentian’s identity in front of all the children.
Hearing that Xu Wentian was actually not dead, Xu Sanya and Xu Dawei were shocked, wondering who was buried in that grave.
The old lady explained the matter in just a few words.
Xu Wentian, looking at his other two children, felt an indescribable heartache.
His gaze fell upon Xu Dawei.
When he entered the home, Xu Wentian had deliberately taken several more glances at him and noticed that he had a limp.
This was his firstborn, how could Xu Wentian possibly not feel distressed?
Gao Lihong mentioned that they were now very well-off.
If money wasn’t an issue, that meant the problem with the leg couldn’t simply be solved with money, perhaps the best time for treatment had already passed.
Suddenly having a father appear, Xu Dawei and Xu Sanya felt quite uncomfortable.
Especially since they both came from a rural background, and Xu Wentian was dressed impressively, clearly from a prestigious family.
Even though he was their biological father, Xu Sanya and Xu Dawei were still very restrained.
Seeing the anxiety and restraint in the two of them, Xu Wentian’s heartache deepened, for these were his children, yet they felt such nervousness and constraint in his presence.
The old lady also noticed Xu Dawei and Xu Sanya’s unease and felt uncomfortable herself.
In this world, where would children feel inferior upon seeing their own father?
It was all that old man’s fault.
The old lady rarely resented Xu Wentian, even though he hadn’t done anything wrong.
Fortunately, the tension and unease did not last too long. Perhaps it was Xu Wentian’s overly affectionate tone or his gentle and warm gaze that gradually loosened Xu Dawei and Xu Sanya up.
This was a father and son reunion scene; for the grandchildren’s generation, it was somehow not as important.
So Xu Niannian and Xu Sisi simply took Xu Doudou and Xu Zhicheng, Xu Duoyu outside to wait.
Yang Cuihua saw her precious elder daughter run out and wanted to follow, but Liu Guimei pulled her down to sit.
Looking puzzled at Liu Guimei, Liu Guimei replied in a resigned yet amused whisper, "Big sister, mom is watching."
Then Yang Cuihua obediently sat on the bench, not daring to shift in the slightest.
The family recognized each other and it was a complete reunion.
Xu Wentian had brought up the issue of Xu Dawei’s leg injury.
Yang Cuihua hastily said, "Dad, you don’t need to worry about this, Dawei’s leg, Niannian has already taken him to the hospital. The doctor said it’s no use, it can’t be cured."
Yang Cuihua called him "dad" rather decisively, more resolute than Xu Dawei and his siblings.
The three siblings of the Xu family all turned to look at her at the same time, leaving Yang Cuihua bewildered.
"What’s wrong? Why are you all looking at me?"
Hearing Yang Cuihua say Xu Dawei’s leg injury was incurable, Xu Wentian’s chest felt suddenly heavy.
If he hadn’t left them, how could he have allowed his child to suffer such a wound and not recover?
Xu Dawei was still not accustomed to calling him dad. Heeding Yang Cuihua’s words, he echoed, "You don’t need to worry, this leg has been like this for many years, it’s fine."
Xu Dawei intended to reassure Xu Wentian, but saying it had been like this for many years only made Xu Wentian feel worse.
Thinking it over, Xu Wentian suspected the medical conditions here might not have been adequate.
He suggested bringing the family back to Kyoto, but as soon as this was proposed,
nobody agreed.
Although Kyoto was a big city, after so many years, who really wanted to leave their hometown?
Xu Wentian himself wasn’t adamant about returning to Kyoto. To him, wherever his wife and children were was his home.
But he did want to make an effort for Xu Dawei’s leg.
In the end, it was the old lady who made the decision.
The old lady decided to follow Xu Wentian to Kyoto.
She wanted to see the place where he lived; besides, going there didn’t mean they wouldn’t come back.
As for Yang Cuihua, she was quite tempted, especially since her beloved Baby Nian was about to move to Kyoto to live with her son-in-law.
If her family could move to Kyoto, Yang Cuihua would be more than willing.
But she couldn’t let go of the Butter Noodle House.
Xu Niannian had already handed over the Butter Noodle House to Yang Cuihua and Xu Dawei to manage.
With money coming in every day and having something to do, Yang Cuihua was very fulfilled and happy.
Xu Sanya’s husband and children were all here, so they would definitely not go to Kyoto; plus, she was married and would naturally follow her husband.
As for Xu Erhong, he was managing the factory for Xu Niannian here, so he wouldn’t be going to Kyoto.
Unless future developments changed, he would prefer to stay here and make his mark on this patch of land.
Xu Wentian had not expected this suggestion to be rejected by his three children and could only sigh.
He just wanted to give them better conditions, and since the children were unwilling, he couldn’t force them.
The old lady patted his hand and told him not to worry.
She would go wherever he went.
