Chapter 222: Chapter 221: The Petty Jin Yu (3 More)

"I’m not Jin Yu, then who is?" he clicked his tongue and said.

Xu Niannian cocked her head, her smile brimming, "Then I wouldn’t know. All men are the same..."

What she wanted to say was that men all think alike, and even if he had some other thoughts, he didn’t need to pretend; he could just show them directly.

However, Jin Yu frowned upon hearing her tone. Why did it sound so off to him?

She seemed so experienced.

Jin Yu inexplicably thought of Liu Wendong. Could that bastard have such thoughts about her too?

Right, his girl was so beautiful, which man could look at her and not have thoughts?

But as soon as Jin Yu thought of that, fury burned and surged to his head.

The anger he had toward Liu Wendong suddenly exploded: "You really know a lot of men."

That statement was filled with resentment.

Xu Niannian immediately raised her eyebrows: "What do you mean by that?"

Her tone shifted, and Jin Yu immediately snapped back to reality.

Realizing he had displaced his anger onto her, he muttered an apology, "Sorry."

He knew he shouldn’t be angry.

After all, whatever had happened between her and Liu Wendong occurred before his time with her, and he couldn’t hold it against her.

She would get angry at that.

But the sourness in his heart bubbled forth relentlessly.

Just thinking that she might have shared such intimate gestures with Liu Wendong, or even more intimate actions, Jin Yu felt unbearably miserable.

It was as though someone had punched him in the chest.

It wasn’t painful, but it was deeply suffocating.

Jin Yu wore his heart on his sleeve in front of Xu Niannian, perhaps because he didn’t want to put up a facade in front of her.

Xu Niannian easily sensed his unhappiness.

"What’s bothering you?" she asked with concern.

Although her feelings for Jin Yu weren’t that deep, she did like him.

Since she had decided to date him, Xu Niannian wouldn’t just enjoy his contributions; she would naturally tend to his emotions as well.

With a gentle pat on her back, Jin Yu let her go, "It’s nothing."

Jin Yu told himself that Liu Wendong was history, and he couldn’t always be so petty.

Xu Niannian disliked guessing games.

Since they had decided to date, it was better to speak openly about anything.

Jin Yu obviously had something on his mind.

"Let’s head back," Jin Yu said, his dark eyes clearly not as spirited as before.

Xu Niannian outright placed her hand on the wall behind him, pinning him against it, "Hold on, you haven’t answered my question yet."

Coming from her, the position lacked any sense of dominance and instead seemed more like an invitation.

Because he was nearly a head taller than her, and yet she had to stretch her hand above his shoulder to reach the wall, it seemed like quite the effort.

Xu Niannian just wanted to stop Jin Yu; pinning him against the wall seemed like a spur-of-the-moment impulse from her brain.

Her eyes shifting, Xu Niannian masked her unease and asked him, "How about you first tell me what’s wrong before we go back? Suddenly being so gloomy, what’s the matter? There must be a reason, right?"

Anybody restrained like this by their beloved would hardly remain indifferent.

Jin Yu said nothing, but his gaze grew more dangerous.

Meeting his increasingly profound stare, Xu Niannian coughed, reminding him, "Before answering the question, you’re not allowed any improper behavior."

"..."

He simply picked her up.

Suddenly hoisted into his arms, Xu Niannian was taken aback.

Her cheeks reddened, but she didn’t forget the matter at hand, "What’s wrong with you in the end?"

What was wrong, of course, was jealousy, envy.

But it clearly wasn’t the right time to say that, fearing she’d get angry, thinking he was being judgmental or disdainful of her, he could only mutter apologies.

In truth, he was just possessed by the demon of jealousy.

Jin Yu had never imagined that falling for someone would feel like this.

Wanting selfishly to claim her for himself, wanting her to belong to him alone.

Wishing that she could only see him—one man—in her eyes.

He didn’t even understand how he suddenly became such a petty person upon dating, bothering so much about everything.
