Chapter 142: Chapter 141: (1 more)

Having heard Jin Yu’s explanation, Xu Niannian felt most of her anger dissipate.

And when she heard him mention dizziness, blurred vision, and tinnitus, her anger completely vanished.

The last sentence, laden with grievance—"My face hurts so much"—made Xu Niannian’s guilt skyrocket instantly.

Seeing the excessive blood on his face, and the fact that his nostrils were still bleeding, Xu Niannian felt overwhelmingly guilty.

"I’ll clean it for you."

She picked up the handkerchief from the cabinet and began to wipe his face.

Jin Yu let Xu Niannian clean his face, looking up to allow her better access. To wipe the blood, Xu Niannian had to lean in very close.

Jin Yu squinted his eyes, a faint fragrance filled his nostrils and the pleasant scent coming from her made his eyes darken while his hands clenched into fists on his knees.

Just as she had managed to clean the blood off his face, Xu Niannian noticed that his nostrils were bleeding again.

"Oh no, why is it bleeding again?"

Xu Niannian’s guilt reached its peak. Why couldn’t she control her hand?

Supporting the back of his neck with one hand, Xu Niannian’s voice softened and grew tender.

"You should tilt your head back for now."

Jin Yu cooperated, tilting his head back and resting his neck on her hand. Her fingers were slender, soft, and cool to the touch—very comforting.

Unfortunately, she didn’t let him enjoy this treatment for long before she said, "Keep this position steady; I’m going to get some water."

Without giving him a chance to answer, she withdrew her hand and ran out.

Jin Yu squinted, a pleased curve formed on his lips.

It wasn’t long before Xu Niannian came back with a basin in her hands. When Jin Yu caught sight of that familiar basin, his face turned green.

The basin was filled with cold water, and Xu Niannian soaked the handkerchief in it, wrung it out, and picked it up.

"Come, let me clean you up, there’s still blood on your face."

Jin Yu’s face was full of reluctance as his gaze shuttled between the handkerchief in her hand and the basin on the floor.

"Where did you get this basin from?"

Xu Niannian would not let Jin Yu resist. She supported the back of his neck with one hand and wiped his face with the handkerchief.

While wiping, she informed Jin Yu, "I found it in the main bedroom of the west house."

"Under the bed?" Jin Yu asked, flustered.

Xu Niannian nodded, "That’s right."

Jin Yu abruptly pulled the handkerchief down, looking at Xu Niannian with a face full of grievance.

"What’s wrong? Why are you glaring at me?"

Xu Niannian was puzzled, snatching the handkerchief back from him and splashing water from the basin onto Jin Yu’s forehead.

Jin Yu turned his face away, refusing to cooperate.

Xu Niannian was perplexed, "What’s the matter with you?"

After hesitating many times, Jin Yu looked at Xu Niannian’s still-dripping hand and stopped short of speaking.

"...If you have something to say, just say it."

Jin Yu’s nose started to bleed again, and as Xu Niannian spoke, she reached out with the handkerchief to wipe it, but Jin Yu grabbed her wrist halfway through.

Jin Yu was very strong, and his grip prevented Xu Niannian from moving forward at all.

However, Jin Yu did not allow her to feel any pain, only keeping her from moving further.

"What on earth is the matter with you?"

Because she felt guilty, Xu Niannian wanted to make it up to him, but she hadn’t expected his lack of cooperation.

Glancing at the basin on the floor, Jin Yu’s dark eyes flickered several times before he finally resigned himself to pushing away Xu Niannian’s hand with the handkerchief. The tips of his ears turned a faint pink.

Jin Yu’s expression was so obviously shy that it was hard for Xu Niannian not to notice.

Her mouth fell open in shock, and she swallowed incredulously, "You... what are you shy about?"

She couldn’t be seeing things wrong, could she? Jin, the tough guy, was actually shy?

Jin Yu glanced up at her several times and seeing her disbelief, he spoke in a voice as tiny as a mosquito’s, "That’s my childhood potty."
