Chapter 181: A Meeting Gift for the Graduates
Chapter 181: Chapter 181: A Meeting Gift for the Graduates
A day later, in the early morning.
Xia Yu, who was in the Shrine Kitchen, received a call from Dojima Yin.
He then asked Liangzi Lina next door to drive him to the Far Moon Resort.
About fifteen minutes later, the sports car stopped in front of a hotel deep in the mountains that was several dozen floors high, with a wide parking lot that was empty. However, once the Far Moon shuttle bus arrives tomorrow, the scene would change completely.
He went straight to the elevator.
In the elevator, Xia Yu was surprised to see several promotional discount flyers posted on the wall.
"...only eighty thousand yen per night to stay, with a discount for booking three days?!" Xia Yu’s mouth twitched at the price; it indeed was expensive. Eighty thousand yen a night, which converted to nearly five thousand RMB, could only be described as befitting a brand resort under the Far Moon umbrella.
During the lodging study period, the hotel obviously didn’t accommodate other guests, so the floors were very quiet, and the elevator went all the way to the 21st floor.
Ding.
The elevator doors opened, and Xia Yu immediately saw Dojima Yin waiting outside, a fit middle-aged man in a sharp suit, exuding a formidable presence.
"So, did you pass the lodging evaluation at Chiyoda Shrine?" Dojima Yin asked straight away.
"Of course!"
"I’m sorry for calling you over early; the lodging study actually starts tomorrow. I’ll introduce you to some people first, follow me."
Dojima Yin patted Xia Yu’s shoulder and led him into the floor’s restaurant.
In the elegantly decorated room, a dozen people were seated here and there, some in groups chatting, others with eyes closed in meditation. Each person possessed an air of efficiency that the students lacked.
When they heard footsteps, everyone’s gaze turned to size them up in unison.
Without a doubt, this group was made up of Far Moon’s distinguished graduates!
Xia Yu, however, remained remarkably calm.
In the past two days, at Chiyoda Shrine, he had started to blend into the circle of trainees. Turning back to look at these Far Moon graduates, Xia Yu realized that the "aura" and "spirit" they exuded were not as intimidating as those of the trainees.
The difference in levels gave Xia Yu a sense of looking down from above. Even though he was at the bottom of the trainee circle, he had, at least, passed Granny Chiyoda’s lodging evaluation.
Dojima Yin took the initiative to introduce him: "This is our youngest guest lecturer at Far Moon, Instructor Xia Yu."
A group of Far Moon graduates looked at each other in bewilderment.
Seeing this, Dojima Yin was taken aback and said, "Haven’t you guys been watching the culinary segment on Tokyo TV Station lately?"
"Why would we watch TV? We’re very busy, President Dojima!"
A tall and handsome blond man waved his hand dismissively; this was Donato Wutongtian, currently the head chef at an international hotel.
"I’ve been so busy at the sushi restaurant where I work that this is a rare break I managed to get..." said a man with squinty eyes. This was Sekishou Hei.
"Well, it seems none of you have watched Instructor Xia’s Food Duel on TV," Dojima Yin could only chuckle lightly, dissipating the awkward feel in the air. "Come, Instructor Xia, let me give you a proper introduction, starting with the first person on the left. This is Shigong Xiaoci Lang, the first seat amongst the Ten Masters of Far Moon of the 79th cohort..."
Hearing the name Shigong Xiaoci Lang, Xia Yu’s gaze sharpened, instinctively looking over.
At that moment, the man also cast a sharp gaze back at him.
Just like the character from the anime, Shigong Xiaoci Lang, the head chef and owner of the renowned French restaurant SHINO’S in Paris, gave off an impression of being rigid at first glance, with eyes that were particularly sharp and serious.
Dojima Yin went on to introduce the next female.
"This is Qian Rixiangzi..."
He was cut off before he could finish.
"There’s no need for introductions, President Dojima, since Mr. Xia Yu and I are already acquainted," said Qian Rixiangzi, a woman with the grace and appearance of an authentic Dahe Fuzi, as she smiled, "I haven’t properly thanked him and Miss Eriina for visiting my little restaurant last time to help with taste tests."
Hearing the name Eriina, the other graduates suddenly cast subtle glances their way.
"President Dojima, can we save the introductions for later, if that’s okay?"
Qian Rixiangzi clutched her stomach in distress, "I’m hungry now, I was called over here bright and early to gather, and I didn’t even have breakfast. It’s almost noon!"
"We can have breakfast and lunch together now."
Another, squatting on the chair with short hair and a petite frame, said this expressionlessly. This was Mizuhara Fuyumi.
The room fell silent for a moment.
Suddenly, Dojima Yin spoke up, "How about this, since you all are unfamiliar with Instructor Xia, let’s follow the rules of the culinary world. Everyone makes a dish, places it on the same table for tasting, and we’ll treat it as a lunchtime welcome gift!"
"I have no problem with that!" Qian Rixiangzi clapped and cheered, "I’m really looking forward to Instructor Xia’s skills!"
The other graduates weren’t as easygoing as Qian Rixiangzi, skepticism written in their eyes.
Xia Yu was simply too young.
"A high school-aged guest instructor? You must be joking!" Shigong Xiaoci Lang didn’t bother to hide his disdain as he pushed up his glasses, giving a intimidating look, "Bring out your dish, let’s see it! Speak through your cuisine!"
There was absolutely no problem!
Xia Yu laughed to himself, glancing at Dojima Yin, who wore a stern expression.
The director of this play was undoubtedly this guy.
However, Xia Yu found this arrangement to his liking – rather than tediously boasting about the extent of his culinary skills, he’d rather be tight-lipped and let his cooking do the talking!
Ding.
The system popped up a task.
Task: Serve the Far Moon graduates with the new recipe "Heavenly Hero Grilled Bluefish" and win their approval.
Reward: Ingredient "Shuangjiang Tofu" (purple) unlocked.
A task he had anticipated.
However, the task details gave Xia Yu a start.
Serve the Far Moon graduates with "Heavenly Hero Grilled Bluefish"? His palms suddenly broke into a sweat; even after a week immersed in the culinary world, he hadn’t yet made a glowing version of the "Heavenly Hero Grilled Bluefish."
He had assumed the recipe, which he had just learned, was simple, but as he delved deeper, Xia Yu realized that "Heavenly Hero Grilled Bluefish" relied not only on the skills of "Heavenly Hero Bursting Flame River" and "Heavenly Hero Fire Wheel," but also encapsulated the essence of the "Bursting Flame" technique!
"Shuangjiang Tofu, this ingredient..."
Xia Yu frowned slightly.
In the real world, a high-quality Shuangjiang Tofu would be blue-rated, but in the system, it was elevated to a purple special quality.
A spark crossed his mind.
"With special quality ’Shuangjiang Tofu’, my improvement work on ’Magical Mapo Tofu’..."
Xia Yu was delighted in his heart.
In fact, the improvement to the "Magical Mapo Tofu" recipe was stuck on the ingredients.
For this dish, the quality of ingredients was paramount, and with special quality "Shuangjiang Tofu," Xia Yu was confident he could make a 100% complete glowing dish!
A perfect glowing dish!
"Let’s do this!"
Xia Yu followed Dojima Yin out of the parlor, the Far Moon graduates already ahead.
He called to Dojima Yin.
"President Dojima, my dish might be a bit troublesome, can you help me prepare these things..."
After listing all the kitchen tools and ingredients he needed, Dojima Yin was taken aback.
Several iron chains.
And then, a kitchen as open as possible and enough firewood?
Suddenly thinking back to the scene on the Far Moon Food Duel where Xia Yu cooked Beggar’s Chicken with firewood, Dojima Yin had an epiphany, his lips curving into an expectant smile.
Interesting!
