Chapter 972: Chapter 972: Ended Up Plotting Together

She spoke before she could help herself, "I want to see it!"

No, she must see it with her own eyes.

Arabella suddenly felt a great sense of compulsion. That she must see the repaired fairies’ abode, no matter what.

"I must see it! Can you bring me there?" Arabella asked before she could stop herself.

"Stop it! Calm down," Alwin held her wrist.

"S-sorry..." Arabella gasped when she realized she had crushed the pastry she was holding.

"I’m sorry, Alfredo... I didn’t mean to waste the food you made," Arabella apologized, even if Alfredo was not here.

She knew that he had put in a lot of effort into making these.

Aletha had been telling her about Alfredo trying to learn how to make everything Arabella liked to eat, or once ate in Lobelius.

Alfredo had also been learning from his fellow chefs about foods for ladies.

It was why the food Arabella had been eating for the past months had become varied.

"Are you finally yourself? For a second, you suddenly looked like you were taken by something else," Alwin sighed and let go of her hand.

"Yes, thank you.

It seems the late Fairy Queen had indeed greatly regretted her home getting destroyed.

I felt a sudden sense of compulsion to see the repaired fairies’ abode.

My heart rate even went up, and I felt like I must see it no matter what," Arabella did her best to explain how she felt.

"I see... I heard the sooner one’s regrets get resolved, the better.

I’ll ask permission to bring you there once we are not too busy.

It seems I will have to visit the island earlier than my promise with Uncle..."

Alwin made a face just at the thought of how Alvis would react.

It would just be a short visit, though.

However, if Arabella must go there, Ferdinand would likely go with her as well.

He knew she liked elves in general, so he was wary of them seducing her.

"Ferdinand will likely go with us. We must come up with a reasonable explanation. And we must ensure he doesn’t see a portrait of the late Fairy King," Arabella reminded Alwin.

If they told Ferdinand that she was the Former Fairy Queen, Ferdinand might become too wary of Icarus.

"Then, let’s just sneak there while His Majesty is busy with something," Alwin suggested.

It was Arabella’s turn to gawk at him.

"It seems you’re getting used to lying to him," Arabella pointed out.

One lie was so difficult for him to say to Ferdinand in the past. But now, he was the one suggesting they go behind Ferdinand’s back.

"I’m not!

It’s because there will surely be portraits hanging there.

They are the fairies’ heroes.

And the children will be there.

They will surely recognize your presence and approach us.

What if they look exactly like King Icarus, or they had a mixed feature of you both?

What would His Majesty feel if he saw them?"

"!!!"

Arabella was wide-eyed when she realized Alwin was right.

Even if Ferdinand doesn’t see the portraits, he might end up seeing the children.

And if they had both features of the late Fairy King and Queen, they would look like Arabella and Icarus.

Ferdinand would be terribly shocked. He might even feel like Arabella and Icarus had betrayed him and had children behind his back.

He had finally stopped being too jealous. If he saw the children, he would once again be paranoid.

"L-let’s sneak in indeed. He shouldn’t see or meet any of them," Arabella concluded that Alwin was right.

Sneaking to the elves’ island was for the best while Ferdinand was busy.

"See, I told you.

Let’s plan this carefully and execute it once we are sure he won’t be able to follow us there immediately.

We need at least an hour or more so that even if he comes, we are already done speaking with our visit to the fairies’ abode..."

Alwin began planning how they should head there and when.

Ferdinand was busy right now, so they should be able to head there without him following immediately.

However, it would be too suspicious for Alwin to visit the elves’ island while Alvis, who had invited them, was not even there.

He was still in Lobelius.

’!!!’

Arabella suddenly had an idea.

"Ah, maybe a few weeks from now if Elder Satara agrees to head there!

We can say I tagged along because I wanted to see the Elder.

Of course, we will visit Elder Satara too.

You and I both have a reason to see her, so it won’t be suspicious."

’Please, pardon me, Elder, for using you like this. Of course, I’d love to see you too in your fully recovered state,’ Arabella internally apologized.

"That’s a good idea. She might figure out why we are there, so let’s apologize together once we are there," Alwin agreed.

"Yes," Arabella seconded.

With this, they have a plan on how to resolve the Former Fairy Queen’s greatest regret as soon as possible, so Arabella would stop feeling so compelled by it.

"Alright, so for now, let’s focus on what we must do here.

I will do the experiment with Ivan tonight so we can finally clear the plant disease permanently.

Our tasks will greatly lessen once we can announce that the disease will no longer be a threat."

Alwin refocused them on their current task.

They were originally simply here to take a break, and yet they got sidetracked with all the topics they discussed.

"Yes, indeed. Let’s try to find spies as well. If we don’t catch them, they might deliver the news to whoever their master is and make another trouble for us," Arabella also focused on the task at hand.

"We have walked around Sibruh for several hours and encountered none of them.

If there are still some left, then they are too good at hiding.

I didn’t sense any magician or magic tools with a suspicious amount of mana as we walked around.

They couldn’t have sent non-magicians even if this is a distant location."

Alwin, not sensing any magic tools with a huge amount of mana, meant there was no one here who might be hiding a teleportation scroll or any tools of magic they could use to escape.

Alwin did not sense magicians either, so this left non-magicians.
