Chapter 966: Chapter 966: Crazy High Mana Capacity
But despite hours of searching, they still found none.
They had already come across everyone in the group, and they also found no one who seemed like a spy, so they continued searching.
"Let’s rest for a bit. My feet hurt," Arabella said when their hours of walking led to nothing.
"Alright, let’s head somewhere with fewer people first. Let’s teleport near the last area we haven’t searched," Alwin said, since they were currently in another residential area.
Alwin teleported them to a hill overlooking what seemed like an abandoned village.
This was on the outskirts of Sibruh but still far from the wall.
It was surrounded by rocky hills, so it was not visible when looking from the highest part of the castle or the watch towers.
There were no signs that the land near it was cultivated, so it must have been a while since it was abandoned.
"Did they abandon this village because of the location?" Arabella wondered out loud.
"It’s not abandoned. There are still people living it," Alwin corrected.
"Really? No one’s outside, though," Arabella said.
"Who knows?
Maybe it’s because it’s dusty and dry out here.
But I can feel their presence.
There are several people in each house," Alwin explained.
He made two seats and a table, and Arabella quickly seated herself and drank the tea he placed on the table.
"Then why did you choose this area to take a break? We could have headed here after a rest at a better place," Arabella pointed out.
The surrounding area was dry and barren, and the village seemed abandoned.
The place was indeed dry and dusty too, and if not for the barrier Alwin placed around them, dust would have gone into their teacup when the wind blew.
Alwin shrugged his shoulders and seated himself as well.
"So we can search immediately after resting.
We can observe from afar, too, while we rest.
Don’t be choosy and be grateful instead," Alwin said.
"Argh! Fine. Thank you for listening to my request," she said sarcastically.
’This person doesn’t really know how to take a break, doesn’t he?’
Arabella internally facepalmed but decided to just let it be.
The sooner they were done with this, the better anyway.
If her feet didn’t ache so much, she wouldn’t have asked for a break.
"As you should," Alwin sarcastically replied back, and brought out snacks he had asked for from Alfredo.
This was not an ideal place for a break at all, but Arabella was tired and hungry. Thus, she simply ate the snacks and rested her tired feet.
Alwin showed no signs of tiredness at all despite the one who had just woken up from unconsciousness for more than a week.
Or perhaps it was because he had ample rest due to that long sleep, which was why he was so energetic?
He was snarky, too.
"Don’t you teleport more often than you walk? You don’t seem tired at all," Arabella pointed out.
Or walking this much was perfectly fine for him since his body had also been trained?
"Of course. I’m not like you, who’s so weak and can’t handle a little bit of walking. I do a lot of walking when doing investigations. This is nothing," Alwin replied smugly.
He brought out more refreshments for them as Alfredo sent him more.
It wasn’t little, though. They had been walking all around Sibruh for hours. It will be sunset in just an hour or two.
"Is that so? Then why won’t you pity me and teach me how to teleport, like from my room to my office? Magic is so convenient. If not teleportation, then at least magic like this, which is practical to use," Arabella pointed out.
Watching Alwin use it so conveniently made her want to learn about it again.
However, Alwin immediately told her off.
"No, you are forbidden to learn magic. Haven’t I already told you for the nth time?" Alwin glared.
"But why? Do you still not trust me even for a bit?
Despite all these months of working together?
I won’t use it for anything against the Valeria or the long-lived races," Arabella promised.
"Wait until you have at least retired in Estrella. The same for learning the ancient language. You can learn as much as you want once you begin staying there," Alwin sighed deeply.
’Oh, so it’s not completely forbidden!’
Arabella perked up when she realized she had a chance.
Ferdinand was supposed to begin teaching Arabella about the ancient language when she showed interest after the time Ivan showed prowess in it, and Ferdinand spoke fluently.
However, Ferdinand didn’t teach her, citing that Alwin was heavily against it since Arabella might begin learning magic on her own once she understood the ancient language that was used in magic spells.
Due to this, Ferdinand realized the risk of teaching her the ancient language. Thus, he decided to teach her later once they had retired in Estrella.
And now, Alwin was saying the same about teaching her anything related to magic.
"But retiring in Estrella will probably be after more than two decades of staying here.
It’s been such a long time.
Can’t you teach me even just minor spells that cannot be used as attacks or lead to anything dangerous?"
Arabella wanted to begin, even if just from the smallest ones.
"There’s no magic spell that cannot lead to anything dangerous.
Every spell can become dangerous with the least bit of mistake.
Remember that you are my lord’s mate.
A primordial dragon’s mate.
Do you know the common trait Primordials’ mates have?
Their mana capacity is high enough to be able to accept a primordial dragon’s mana.
All of you primordials’ mates were born with a crazy high mana capacity, even if you don’t know how to use magic, and it was unfilled.
And His Majesty had already given you a lot of his mana.
You wouldn’t have been able to accept it if you didn’t have a high capacity.
But as I have said, it’s a common trait among primordials’ mates.
Further, your mana capacity has grown much more than your past life when you were this age," Alwin explained.
"I have a crazy high mana capacity, and it increased even more?!"
Arabella gawked at Alwin. She did not know about any of this.
