Chapter 957: Chapter 957: Schedule of Activities
Thus, it was decided that it was best for Nadia to speak to them first before the others did.
"Tomorrow, we will begin handing out supplies and resources from some of the territories that pledged. This may last from 1-3 days. We will begin with winter clothing from Ryvaleh and leather boots from Farrell. Rock salt from Fidelis and weapons for soldiers from Maximus, follows," Nadia announced, and the people cheered.
Knowing that the resources will be teleported, these four households sped up the packaging of their pledged resources.
Thus, Alwin or Riley could pick them up by tomorrow.
"After this, in the following week, free theater plays for various ages will be held. The plays to be shown will be the most famous in the Empire. Here is the list of the plays to be presented. We will also have it posted everywhere," Nadia said, and read the approved lists of plays.
Several theater troupes were hired for this so plays could continue for a week without overtaxing the actors and actresses and their production groups.
[Really?! This sounds too good to be true!]
[I’ve never watched a theater play before. I have always wanted to see one, but I cannot afford it.]
[I have only ever heard of theaters. I thought I wouldn’t experience it even once in my life.]
The commoners were awestruck and delighted by this chance since most of them, if not all, had never watched a single theater play before.
Meanwhile, the nobles were quite jealous since they put much effort and money into watching even one of the said shows.
[Why give the plays to commoners who might not even understand and appreciate it?]
[I haven’t watched those plays either! The tickets are so expensive and the lines are always long.]
[How could they give the most famous plays for free?! This is so unfair! I spent a huge sum and had to queue at Riva for a long time just to watch one.]
[I could only afford a ticket for the back rows. And yet, now they are showing it for free...]
’Rest assured, we will have a separate showing for all nobles,’ Arabella thought.
She planned to invite them all here to the castle soon, so she could also have a meeting with them.
The nobles also had major losses too due to the pest infestation, plant disease, and lockdown, so Arabella also included them in their plans.
"After the theater plays, we will continue handing out resources from the pledges that various territories pledged.
This may last for several days.
Next, there will be a storytelling caravan.
Several troupes who had travelled around the Empire telling stories and learning stories from locals will come to present for various ages," Nadia explained.
Since the storytelling caravan became an event for all ages, they hired more troupes aside from the one Denzel recommended.
Just like for the theater troupes, it was so they could perform alternately for several days without overworking themselves.
The first approved stories were the founding myth of Valeria and Sibruh.
The founding myth of Valeria was to be told to let the people of Sibruh know how Valeria began (at least according to the myth). Furthermore, since the myth revolves around the love story of a dragon and a human princess, this may help improve the image of dragons, allowing people to be less judgmental about them.
Meanwhile, the founding myth of Sibruh was intended to be told so that locals of all ages would be reminded of the efforts of the Sibruh Household in building and maintaining this territory to what it is today.
Arabella already reminded them about it, but she only told them the shortened version.
It was better to let the people listen to it while watching a creative portrayal of the story.
It will help the locals understand that the Sibruh Household had truly done their best for them, and so far, only the last Marquess had failed them.
Thus, there was no need to go to extremes to change the ruling household that founded this territory.
The other stories will be educational ones that emphasize the value of patience, trust, loyalty, and so on. These included stories about soldiers, magicians, and knights doing their best for the common people to help remind them that everyone was working hard for them, so they should not treat them with disrespect, but with gratitude and appreciation instead.
As for the others, they will purely be for entertainment purposes to help people destress.
Denzel had also already asked around what stories the locals would like to popularize or want to be reenacted and presented in a creative storytelling, so they could be included.
Winter may have begun by this time, so this was to keep them distracted and prevent them from becoming fearful and filled with anxiety that they might once again take arms.
If not for the winter, they would have also hired musicians to play, but it might endanger their talents, so they held back on this one.
"After the storytelling caravan, educational materials from Vertus will be distributed. This will be followed by free reading and writing lessons for all those who want to learn," Nadia announced, and the people gasped.
[Free reading and writing lessons?! Is this for real?!]
"Can anyone join? Even someone like me?!"
A commoner inquired nervously with a hopeful glint in her eyes.
Nadia glanced at Ronald, who was the one in charge of this project, so he could do the explanations himself.
Ronald stepped forward and held onto his voice-amplifying magic tool.
"Yes, everyone is free to join.
Children, teens, young adults, adults, and the elderly.
These lessons will last for months, so if there are multiple people in your family who want to learn, you may schedule among yourselves accordingly," Ronald explained.
"THANK YOU!!"
The lady who asked cried in delight.
"Thank you, Your Majesty!"
All the people who wanted to learn how to read and write also said their thanks and began cheering.
"Long live Her Majesty. Long live His Majesty. Long live the Empire!"
