Reborn as a Mind-Reading Empress -
Chapter 947: What About Us?
Chapter 947: Chapter 947: What About Us?
"Can I also become a Civil Servant if I study enough?!"
Some people were inspired by Ivan’s words and wondered if they or their children could also become Civil Servants.
"He’s so humble when he spoke with us. Who would have thought he’s an Imperial Assistant and a researcher as well..."
Some were shocked that he was an Imperial Assistant since he spoke with them casually like one of them.
It was Ivan’s tactic, though, so he could gather more information.
And it’s not like he was being too pretentious since he was indeed once a farmer and was a commoner.
[I spoke too much! Did I really have to reveal everything like that?!]
Ivan blushed when he realized he had just revealed a lot about himself.
Meanwhile, Arabella’s assistants, who had limited what they said, suddenly regretted not speaking more.
[I didn’t know we could speak for long. I should have added more to my speech.]
[I thought it was just a short introduction, so I did not add more. I should have spoken in more detail!]
[This is all because Ronald and Oscar spoke first! They don’t talk much, even in person, and yet, we just copied how they introduced themselves! Ah, what a blunder...]
Arabella did not give them a specific length, so they were actually free to speak as much as they wanted, but they shortened it because of their colleagues who spoke first.
They will have more chances to speak, though, since they would be coming and going here for a few days up to a week until they have fully gathered the information they need.
With all her assistants done speaking, it was also time for her to talk.
She was grateful that everyone vouched for her.
Arabella did not ask for them to do so, but she was grateful they did on their own.
It clearly helped the people believe that her words can be trusted.
"Lobelius, my homeland, as an ally of Valeria, has also pledged 20% of its produce and a supply of tea for the winter."
Arabella concluded the pledges.
Lobelius always had a good harvest thanks to Elder Satara for having maintained their lands for so many years.
Thus, when the territories in Valeria gave their pledge, Arabella wrote to her older brother.
She asked if they could also give some help, even if just a bit, as a show of their alliance.
It would be teleported by Riley or Alwin.
Her brother pledged 20% since they once again had a bountiful harvest this year, and they still had ample stocks for the years to come.
Arabella told him 5-10% should be enough.
However, Benjamin refused to lower it to uphold her pride as the Empress.
He said their help should be a bit higher when compared to the others.
As for the tea, they produce a lot of tea all the time to keep up with the demand. Thus, they had a lot in stock.
[So many territories are sending their help. It must be a lot since their territories are wider than ours...]
[If this many are sending help, then, maybe we won’t go hungry after all...]
With the people having calmed down, Arabella then continued informing them about the information they did not know.
This was one of the concerns that Ivan pointed out.
The people were scared because they did not know what was happening. Aside from the limited information, they were told that the pests carried and distributed the plant disease and that all crops and even the flora were affected.
The people knew those. However, they did not know about anything else, which made them even more scared.
Thus, after a meeting with Ferdinand and Raymond, it was agreed that Arabella could inform them about more information now that the disease had been announced in the Empire.
Arabella was then here to give more information and do the speeches and communication with many people that Ferdinand disliked.
"At the moment, including Sibruh, Riva is supplying seven territories affected by the pest infestation and plant disease.
Sibruh and three territories that share borders with you, Ludrana, Degril, and Recaria, were severely affected.
The four of you may not be allowed to plant until after a year or two, but all your food supply will be provided by the Empire until you have enough produce to stock up.
Meanwhile, half of Tamara and Melissia were affected.
Lastly, Edra was included in the lockdown for safety measures, and since a small portion of their territory was affected.
This means only four territories need to be supplied with food for a year or two, so you need not fret about the supply running out.
Supply from Riva is ample, and help from other territories will also arrive, as you have heard from the pledges.
We are simply not bringing all the food here until we are sure all the pests are eradicated and the plant disease is controlled.
If we bring all the fresh produce here and get affected by the disease, then all of it will rot and end up wasted," Arabella explained.
The people asked some questions about the other afflicted territories, and Arabella answered what she was allowed to.
Meanwhile, as everyone’s attention was on Arabella and her assistants, Alwin caught more suspicious figures who acted as instigators.
"Then, what about us farmers who have no job to do for a year? Some of us found employment in other sectors. But there are too many of us. Thus, most of us were left with no job. We still have other necessities we must buy for our family, so we still need to work. But if we cannot farm for a year, then we have no other source," a brave and honest soul pointed out.
"Indeed, Your Majesty. What about us?"
The question echoed in the crowd as more people asked the same.
This concludes that the food supply issue was finally resolved, and the people believed it would truly come as they promised.
Since they brought the topic themselves, Arabella moved on to their next agenda.
