Reborn as a Mind-Reading Empress -
Chapter 933: Warning Alwin
Chapter 933: Chapter 933: Warning Alwin
Alwin began planning their future course of action.
"Yes, I will attend again. It’s one of the best ways to gather information from various kingdoms at the same time," Arabella was also up for it.
Ferdinand may be against it after what happened last time they attended, but Arabella was sure she could convince him it was important for them to attend.
"The plant disease came early, so it meant it was affected by the changes we have made so far.
Were you not able to catch the culprit in the past?"
Arabella hoped Alwin did. However, his reply was saddening.
"No. We were able to tell someone was trying to mess with us, but we could not find the culprit.
A lot was going on at that time as well, so I was not the one who continued investigating it," Alwin sighed.
"But you recall what was wrong with the disease, right?
You know how to deal with it?"
Arabella needed to make sure their planned announcement tomorrow was not premature.
"Yes. I’ll just have to pretend to study it with the researchers again.
Ah, and I’ll be the one to go with you to the locked-down territories.
We might gather some information there as you listen to everyone’s thoughts."
"Yes, that’s exactly what I was planning.
If they still have spies there, then we might be able to learn about some of their plans."
Arabella had this goal in mind when she planned to go to the locked-down territories.
Ferdinand figured this as well and knew it might be helpful. He was simply worried about her, so he did not want her to go at first.
But now that she was determined and the situation there had gotten worse, it was better not to delay things and maximize what all the resources they have, even her ability.
"Damn that Gulliver and all those stubborn nobles in Crux," Alwin cussed.
After all, if not for Marquess Gulliver selling the Prudencians, and if not for the stubbornness of the nobles of Crux, the war would not have become a necessity.
They wouldn’t have been so busy that they divided their workforce.
Arabella could have also gone to Sibruh much earlier and seen the situation there for herself.
"If not for the mess in Crux, I could have gone to Sibruh, and we would have been able to solve this sooner. Tsk. I even ended up embarrassing myself."
Alwin was annoyed just thinking about how he showed weakness in front of so many people.
"Geez. How many times must everyone tell you it was not your fault?
And it was not embarrassing.
The people who witnessed it never once thought it was shameful.
They were rather amazed at how dedicated you are.
But of course, don’t let it go to your head and overwork yourself again.
If you do something reckless and endanger yourself again, I might not be able to help you.
I must warn you, your elders considered sending you back to Estrella to keep you safe," Arabella revealed.
"What?!!" Alwin was wide-eyed.
[No way!
I must stay here.
How can I ensure the past won’t happen again if I’m in Estrella?
That’s the worst scenario!]
"Yes, so remember to put yourself first. They won’t hesitate if you do something else for the second time.
Remember that Ferdinand and Raymond are in their alternate bodies.
If something happened to them, they would still be safe and sound in Estrella.
They are willing to send you back against your will since you are in your real body.
If you died here, you are truly dead. And no one wants that to happen, so they are trying to be careful," Arabella reminded.
Alwin gulped, "I-I won’t be reckless again."
"As you should.
Remember, you are also my only partner in crime.
If I lost you, who would I work with to prevent the tragedy of the future?
You must be alive and well if we are to remain allies."
[Right. I also have to watch over her to ensure she doesn’t return to her old ways.
I must not be sent back to Estrella while they are still here.]
"I know. I’ll be more careful from now on," Alwin assured her.
They are still wary of each other sometimes, but they get along well now even with this weird kind of friendship and alliance.
"Alright. You have been warned, so don’t blame me in the future.
I have nothing else to ask.
You should go and rest now or do whatever you want.
Just don’t leave the palace or temple premises.
They’ll instantly know I told you something if you do," Arabella warned.
"I won’t. I will walk around the palace and get updated with other things in more detail," Alwin promised.
With this agreement, Arabella and Alwin parted on a good note both with the determination to keep doing their best for the future.
Arabella then continued working on the documents she was reviewing.
Her assistants had already gathered as much information as they could without revealing the situation in the locked-down territories.
They had managed to make initial drafts for the short term solutions that did not need them to reveal much information before getting responses from the people they needed to contact.
They were embarrassed to show her while it was incomplete, but Arabella asked for a copy anyway so she could edit them right away and see if there was anything they needed to improve, add, or omit.
So far, her assistants were doing well, and she only had minor corrections to make here and there.
However, to push through with the long-term solutions which needed more discussions with the experts they needed to speak with, the pests infestation and plant disease must be revealed first.
Arabella completed all her Empress work for the next few days, so she could move anytime they could head to Sibruh.
She organized the documents and stacked them together when she was done with them.
After a long day, Arabella rewarded herself with her favorite snacks while waiting for dinner.
