Chapter 931: Chapter 931: Updating Alwin

"T-tomorrow? Had there been developments with the research?" Alwin tilted his head.

"Yes. With Ivan fully supported this time, he had already discovered that something was wrong with the plant disease.

I know it was you who checked it in the past.

But since you were unconscious, it was Zion who did this time.

Thus, Ferdinand and your elders already know that the plant disease was something intentionally created through a mixture of magic and experiments.

It’s truly the plant disease that happened last time," Arabella revealed.

[Zion is not well-versed in this matter, though. His magic is geared for fighting.]

"Then, I must head there immediately," Alwin rose.

As his elders had predicted, if they told him the truth, he would fly off to work immediately.

"SIT DOWN," Arabella commanded.

Alwin was surprised at her voice and obeyed.

[Why did I just accept her command?!]

Only when he was already seated did he realize he followed her command, so he rose again.

Arabella sighed deeply as she got a headache from how he was behaving.

"Hayss. You do understand this was exactly why they did not want to tell you the truth," Arabella glared. "Sit down and listen. I’m not even done talking yet."

"..."

Alwin wordlessly seated himself again.

[Why is she so irritable today? Is it that time of the month?]

"It’s not!" Arabella gave him another glare when she heard his thoughts. "You came to disturb my work so at least listen until I’m done talking!"

"Right. Right, I will," Alwin raised both hands as if in surrender.

"Zion is indeed not an expert in this matter, so we were waiting for you to wake up so you can conduct a thorough research with Ivan and the others.

But it can wait until your elders give the go signal, so don’t teleport there whenever you please.

I’m the one who’s going to get roasted for informing you prematurely.

For now, our main problem is tomorrow’s Court Session.

Since there are developments on the research and you are awake now, we will announce the pest infestation and plant disease tomorrow.

It’s so we could push through with other work needed to be done to solve more problems that arose from the plant disease and pest infestation," Arabella explained.

"Are there more issues?" Alwin frowned.

"Yes. The people had grown increasingly insecure and fearful about their future due to the current situation in the locked-down territories.

This is why my assistants are all busy.

We are currently working on different projects to help distract the masses and alleviate their worries.

Likewise, we are seeking long-term solutions for loss of employment due to the disease and pests.

I and all of my assistants are working on different projects addressing those.

However, it requires collaboration with a lot of people.

Thus, plant disease and pests must be announced so we could begin speaking more openly to the people we needed to work with..."

Arabella explained the situation to Alwin, who, thankfully, listened attentively this time without rushing to leave.

"I see... So that’s what’s going on," Alwin nodded as he absorbed her explanation. "Even with the current problems, this is so much better than what happened in the past.

It was already spread in more territories and had already caused famine and hunger before we learned about it."

"Indeed. This is still so much better than the past. We are succeeding in making changes, so you need not overdo it," Arabella smiled.

"Right..." Alwin sighed in relief.

Arabella was about to make him leave so she could continue working but she recalled there was something else she needed to inform him about.

"Oh, there’s one more thing you need to know," Arabella said, and Alwin sat up straight again.

"What is it?"

"Ferdinand and I talked just a few days ago, and we touched upon a topic.

He said he would be able to accept me no matter what I become, so I tried telling him about the past life we knew," Arabella began.

"What?! Why did you decide that without telling me?!" Alwin was alarmed.

"I thought it was my cue to speak honestly since I touched upon the subject.

Ferdinand had already noticed I was hiding a lot of things from him.

That there’s something from my past that I always hold back.

He said a lot of things which assured me I can finally be honest.

But when I tried to tell him the truth, an unknown force stopped me.

Everything was suddenly frozen in time.

I could not speak or move as a voice told me it was not time to tell the truth yet.

Whoever it was, the voice said the past will repeat again if I tell the truth.

Only when I agreed not to say it yet did it finally stop, and I could move again.

I’m telling you this since it might happen to you too, in case you try to tell someone about it."

Arabella informed Alwin in detail.

"It seems we must not talk about it yet. Do you recognize the voice? Is it someone from the two entities you met at the pond when you were a child?"

[Could it be the Dragon God? Or was it that entity again?]

"No. It was someone else.

And I knew the instant he spoke that I should not disobey or question him.

All I could do was agree," Arabella shuddered just at the memory.

It was scary since she knew it was not someone they could offend.

"Do you think he was an enemy or someone on our side?" Alwin inquired.

"I think he is on our side. With how he talked, he seemed to be trying to stop me from talking too early to prevent a repeat of the tragedy," Arabella honestly said.

She had been pondering about it since it happened but her fear was not because she had to run from the said voice but simply because it was someone so powerful.

Someone, even Ferdinand or Elrond, who was the Overseer, would not offend.

"I see. As long as it’s not the enemy, then I guess we should do as he says," Alwin concluded.
