Chapter 923: Chapter 923: Visit Our Abode
"Let’s continue to talk later, okay? I must attend a meeting with the Pope first," Alwin said to Dimo.
"Oh, okay. See you later, Master," Dimo gave Alwin one more hug before leaving with Blanca.
"Those two were at your bedside every single day.
Dimo always held your hand to ensure you stayed warm.
He was scared watching you sleep for too long since his mother was bedridden for a while before she died," Arabella informed Alwin, so he knows.
"Really? Then, I’ll have his favorite meals prepared for him and teach him more about magic," Alwin promised.
"Blanca took good care of you day and night. Especially when you had fevers," Arabella continued as they walked to the room where the Pope and his comrades were.
"I’ll treat her better. I’ll let her ask a few favors," Alwin promised.
"Riley did your work while you were asleep and also visited you every day to ensure you were alright."
"I’ll reward him handsomely. I think there are magic items he said he wanted to make," Alwin said as he pondered over it.
Arabella glanced at Alvis, and she almost flinched at the way he looked at her.
Envious of the others, he was clearly begging her to tell Alwin he never left his side to ensure he was safe.
Alvis hoped for a bonding time with Alwin or anything of the sort. He wanted every shred of attention or affection he could get from Alwin, even in the least bit.
Arabella already told Alwin about Alvis, though, telepathically.
However, since Alvis was asking for it, Arabella also said, "Lord Alvis never left your side either. He stayed with you the whole time to keep you safe and ensure you would not be at risk again."
"I..." Alwin looked away in embarrassment as his uncle looked at him expectantly.
A simple thank you would have sufficed, but Alwin thought about it more deeply.
[What would he want? He has everything he wants.]
Alwin didn’t know what he could do for his uncle.
Alvis picked it up and said, "You can call me Uncle from now on."
"I..." Alwin was hesitant about this since he didn’t call Alvis ’Uncle’ upfront. He addressed him formally.
However, Alvis’ expectant gaze told him clearly he would be delighted by it.
Thus, Alwin could not refuse, "Alright. I will."
"Then, can you say it now?" Alvis beamed brightly.
[He’s only ever this kind and gentle when he’s speaking with Alwin. When he speaks to us, he’s almost always rude.]
Ferdinand and Raymond sighed and let them be.
Alwin realized he found it too awkward since he was not used to saying it. Thus he said, "Can’t you ask for something else?"
"Then, what about visiting our island and staying there for some time once your stay here is over?" Alvis asked.
[Then, he would ask me to become the king once I’m there. No way.]
"That’s far in the future. Can’t it be something I can do here?" Alwin tried escaping it.
"Then, call me ’Uncle.’ And try saying it now," Alvis smiled.
It was clear he would be delighted if Alwin agreed with either of the two.
"U-Un..."
[Why must I say it?! I never called anyone uncle before!]
Alwin found it too awkward.
"Then, that settles it.
You will visit our abode later and stay there for a bit.
It will be a good chance to get to know my kids and all the other elves," Alvis already looked forward to the future.
[Maybe, I should visit indeed once everything is over.
I can just run away when he begins trying to make me the next king.]
"Alright," Alwin said in a low voice.
"Really?!!" Alvis was wide-eyed and blocked Alwin’s path, and had Alwin look him in the eye just to ensure he heard it right.
"Yes. I’ll visit. But it will just be a VISIT. Don’t make me do anything more. I already told you I don’t want to be king or whatever," Alwin warned.
"Yes. Yes, I won’t!
Everyone’s going to be delighted!
I should tell them the news!" Alvis was overjoyed.
Arabella learned that not everyone can visit Ferdinand’s island. Especially the youngsters.
It was not easy for them to be around the original body of a Primordial Dragon, especially on his island, where his mana was most concentrated.
Plus, there were several Elders gathered there.
Raymond was an Elder Dragon.
Zion was an Elder Elf.
Rendell was an Elder Giant.
The pooling of concentrated and powerful mana was apparently too much for the younger elves, so they could not visit Alwin even if they wanted to.
Thus, they had to wait and hope for Alwin to visit.
However, Alwin refused to visit since it might give them false hopes that he would accept the position as the next king of the elves.
But since Alwin realized now and accepted that Alvis and the elves were just delighted to see him, even if he did not accept the position, he could visit the elves’ abode.
"Oh, Your Majesty may visit as well. My wife and I will welcome you warmly," Alvis invited.
"M-me too?! Really?" Arabella blinked twice.
It had been one of her dreams when she was young to see what the real abode of elves looked like.
[What?!
Why should we bring this dangerous woman there?
What if she suddenly reverts to her old self even after retiring to Estrella?
What if she tries to harm them?!]
{Hey, you should refuse his offer.
Don’t you dare go.
Are you sure you won’t cause problems there?}
Alwin was wary of her. He still truly cared and cherished his race, even if he did not stay with them.
{Don’t worry, Alwin.
Even in my past life, I have always loved and adored the elves.
Even if I revert to my villainous ways, I would never harm them.
And I’m probably too weak to cause any harm anyway.
Likewise, I won’t revert to my old ways.
And how dare you prohibit me from going home to my abode?
I’m also partly an elf, even if I’m mostly human!}
Arabella had an ultimate comeback at Alwin.
