Chapter 922: Promises to Fulfill

Chapter 922: Chapter 922: Promises to Fulfill

Alvis poured his heart out, desperate for Alwin to understand how he felt.

He ended up crying as he spoke. And even more so when he was done talking.

Raymond, who also got teary-eyed, patted Alvis back, trying to comfort the latter. But it only made Alvis cry even more.

Ferdinand was silent, but he was emotional as well. Arabella held his hand to comfort him, even as she was all tears too after listening to all of them.

They wanted Alwin to understand his life was more valuable to them than that of others. And that he was important to them, no matter what.

"I... I..."

Alwin’s tears streamed down his cheeks as he tried to find the appropriate words to say.

However, he was overwhelmed by all the emotions his elders revealed.

[Why?

Why are they saying all of this when I am still so lacking?

How can they say they accept me regardless?

Why are they saying this even when they know I’m lying to their face?

I don’t deserve this.]

{Because they love you this much, Alwin.

They care for you so deeply that they don’t care about everything else.

They just want you to value your life and love yourself like they love you.

They’re not angry because you made a mistake or broke a rule, or caused trouble.

Caring about you was never trouble for them.

And loving you was never about whether you deserved it or not.

Just as I love Fermin with everything I have, they simply love you.

No why’s or buts.

They are angry because you disregarded yourself.

They fear you would put your life at risk again and end up dying where they could not reach you.

They are your sometimes awkward, but loving parents now, just as I was to Fermin.

And regardless of your doubts, rationalizations, and reasons for them not to love you, they still would.}

Arabella spelled it out clearly too, not leaving any chance for Alwin to deny anything more.

"I-I... I will treasure my life better... I will live way, way longer than any of you...I will live my life to the fullest..." Alwin said as he cried.

"As you should," his elders said in unison, finally satisfied with Alwin’s response.

After all, it meant he finally understood what they were worried about. That their words went past all his barriers and finally reached him truly.

Everyone sighed in relief, and all of them felt so much lighter.

They talked a bit more as they calmed down and explained to Alwin why the Pope was here.

Just as they were preparing to meet with the Pope and comrades again...

They heard Dimo’s voice as he knocked on the door.

"Master! Master!"

"Stop! We can’t enter yet. The Pope is still here."

Blanca was there as well.

"It’s been hours. They must have left already. I want to see if the Master is truly awake. Just a minute is more than enough," Dimo said.

Arabella and the elders glanced at Alwin.

"It should be fine to let them in for a bit. They have been worried about you as well, and were here with you every day," Arabella said.

Alwin’s elders nodded and allowed the two to enter.

"Master!!!"

Dimo gasped and screamed in delight upon seeing that Alwin was truly awake.

He ran to Alwin and hugged him tightly.

"Huwaah!! Master, I was so scared you won’t wake up ever again," Dimo cried as an overwhelmed Alwin rubbed his back.

Even Blanca, who closely followed Dimo, was crying in relief as well.

"I-I’m fine now. I’m fully healed," Alwin assured the two.

"You won’t sleep for so long again?" Dimo inquired.

"I won’t. I won’t," Alwin promised.

"Of course, you shouldn’t.

You promised to teach us more about magic," Blanca said as she tried to dry her tears.

[Ah, right. I did say that.

I should be more careful so I can also fulfill my promises to them.]

Alwin was reminded that he also had people depending on him now.

He could not just risk his life without a care in the world.

"Yes, I will do as I promised," Alwin patted Blanca’s head.

Blanca did not complain as she used to do and gladly accepted it this time.

[Could she be his mate?] Alwin’s elders wondered as they watched the interaction between the two.

However, it was clear Alwin only saw Blanca as one of his students.

Blanca may be his fiancée for now, but it was only to have a reason so Blanca could stay here and remain under their protection.

As for Blanca, she did not have any romantic feelings for Alwin either.

Blanca rather disliked Alwin, thinking he was arrogant. But likewise, she looked up to Alwin and viewed him as her savior.

[There seems to be nothing for now. But perhaps, in the future, when they are a bit older.] Raymond thought.

[Or could it be Dimo and Blanca?

They get along better.

But Blanca only treats Dimo as a child. Or is it someone else?

Elrond slipped while I was speaking with him and said that this child will one day be in Estrella.]

’He would?! He’s someone’s mate?!!’ Arabella was delightfully surprised at what she had just heard from Alvis’ thoughts.

If Dimo was meant to be an Estrellian’s mate, then she’d be glad to be able to see him around and keep watching over him in this life.

’I wonder who it is? I can’t wait to see him all grown up. How will he introduce his lover to us? Ah, wait, he’s still too young. It must still be in the far future,’ Arabella got carried away just thinking about the possibilities.

After all, she wished all the best for Dimo.

One of her greatest regrets in the past would be fulfilled if she saw Dimo live a happy life with someone he cherished.

The same was true for Alwin, but it seems more difficult when it comes to him.

Alwin had a strong aversion to ever having a mate after all.

Even if he finds the one, he might still try to deny it and refuse to accept it.

Hopefully, they are done with solving problems of the past when that time comes, so Alwin won’t have to worry about anything.

"Let’s continue to talk later, okay? I must attend a meeting with the Pope first," Alwin said to Dimo.
