Chapter 912: Chapter 912: Can Transfer and Possess Bodies

[I knew I was right. Look at all their reactions. It’s clear what I said rang a bell.]

The Pope had them figured out.

[Are these people his most trusted companions?]

Ferdinand glanced at the paladins.

"You can trust them. They would not breathe a word about these to other people," the Pope assured them.

[But is it alright to talk about this in Arabella’s presence? She must still be scared just at the recollection...]

Ferdinand glanced at her this time.

He was worried Arabella was still traumatized by the assassination attempt on her and the monster attacks that followed in Medeus.

{I’m fine.} Arabella assured him.

{Are you sure? You can go ahead first in Alwin’s room if it makes you uncomfortable.} Ferdinand offered.

{No, I’m fine.

I want to listen to all of this.

I learn a lot of things just by being here.}

Arabella did not want to leave since this was her chance to listen to the Pope’s thoughts and figure out what else she did not know about the temple and their relationship with Valeria.

{Alright then. Just tell me if you are uncomfortable.}

{I will, thank you.}

With this, Ferdinand finally looked at the Pope again.

[The way they stared at each other, can they communicate telepathically already? They looked like they had just agreed about something. It hasn’t been a year yet since they got married.]

’We shouldn’t have stared at each other!’

Still, just from the Pope’s thoughts, it was clear he truly knew more than Arabella did about the long-loved races and their mates.

"Yes, you were right. We did catch someone since it seems they are determined to cause chaos with all this plotting they are doing," Ferdinand revealed.

"Then what are they up to exactly? Did you get a lead?"

The Pope was eager to know more.

"We don’t know what their true goal is.

But it’s clear that for now, they want to sow discord.

We followed them to try to get more information, but they have not contacted each other when they failed to find him.

Oh, and by the way, you must be careful of your own people," Ferdinand once again glanced at the paladins.

"We are loyal to His Holiness!" the four paladins vowed.

"I’m not saying it’s the four or five of you in particular," Ferdinand replied to them.

"What do you mean then? Did you get more information aside from the one who owns the shop?"

The Pope figured they knew something else.

"These five and all your followers may be loyal to you right now. But what if their souls were replaced with someone else entirely?"

The Pope was wide-eyed at Ferdinand’s words.

"It can’t be! Are you saying there are humans able to do that without permission from the gods?!"

"Yes," Ferdinand said, and the Pope and his companions were shocked and silenced.

"If someone can really do that, wouldn’t this be related to necromancy? I’ll be able to feel the dark magic oozing from them," the Pope said after some thought.

"Hopefully, you can do as you say. Remember the magician who was executed after the assassination attempt on My Empress?"

"Yes."

"The original soul who owned the body was already dead, but his body moved like nothing was wrong.

It was because his body was taken over by someone else the instant he died.

None of us would have noticed it if not for Alwin’s limiter’s released at the time, so he noticed."

Ferdinand held back that Arabella’s ability was also part of why they caught Lindon.

"Since he did not return to his original body, his companions thought he transferred to another after his current one was beheaded. They thought he was likely caught and imprisoned, so they came to find him," Ferdinand explained.

[The dragons who came here to find a spouse were a special case, which their Creator, the Dragon God, himself mediated with. How can someone just transfer from one body to another?!]

"Where is that person now?"

"He is imprisoned by Alwin in a special prison he created," Ferdinand revealed.

"I want to see him. I might be able to tell more easily if I can see what his soul is like."

The Pope did not want to take any chances of getting unknowingly betrayed by people closest to him.

Likewise, it posed the risk that someone might kill the people closest to him just to get access to their secrets.

"Let’s see if Alwin wakes up after you treat him," Ferdinand said.

"Then, let’s go and see him right now. I’ll use as much Divine Power as I can to help his recovery," the Pope did not want to let this chance pass.

"Alright then. Let’s head to Alwin’s room. However, remember not to do anything uncalled for," Ferdinand warned.

Ferdinand rose, and everyone followed suit.

{None of them are planning to hurt, Alwin, right? }

Ferdinand verified with Arabella for a second time.

{Yes. Cassandra and the four paladins are just curious about Alwin since the Pope has high regard for him.}

Arabella assured Ferdinand, who was concerned about Alwin’s safety.

{I see. Thank you.}

"Riley," Ferdinand gave the go signal, and Riley teleported all of them to Alwin’s room.

"Oh, this room is even more superb than the other one," the Pope said in awe.

[It has different features from the previous room, but the security here is even better.

It’s like they teleported us to another country.

But take a look, we are still in Valeria!]

The Pope was even more impressed with Alwin’s room. And they were just in Alwin’s outer chambers.

The wide windows showed a good view of Riva and the Imperial Palace.

"T-this is the capital of Valeria?!!"

Cassandra and the paladin gasped in awe as well.

[It’s vast and secure! Look at those thick and high walls!]

[It’s not an understatement that they are rich! All the buildings, roads, and pavements are new as well.]

[The people on the road and in the shops look happy and worriless.]

[It’s so lively down there. Was it because the war with Crux was a victory? Or is this a daily scenario?]

[He was called a Dark Emperor, but his people looked happy.]
