Reborn as a Mind-Reading Empress
Chapter 903: Were Three Days Too Short

Chapter 903: Chapter 903: Were Three Days Too Short

It was what her maids had been busy with for the past few days.

***

The days passed by in a flash while Arabella was busy working.

The day for the meeting with the Pope finally arrived. And thus, Ferdinand had also returned.

Arabella was to meet with him since they would attend the meeting with the Pope together.

In the meantime, she was in her dressing room getting dolled up by her maids.

They were to appear in their official attire as Emperor and Empress, after all.

It was not an official visit announced to the public, but a private one.

However, it was still best for them to dress this way as a courtesy and show of respect to another power in Eliora. Likewise, it was also to show they were not to be trifled with.

Arabella’s task this time was to listen to the Pope’s thoughts and learn of his objectives.

It was also to discern whether the Great Temple or the Pope had something to do with the poison and anti-magic weapons used in Crux.

As for the necromancers, the Great Temple and the Pope were likely very much against them, which is probably why the Pope initiated this meeting himself.

"Alright! Your Majesty looks as regal as can be," Carla clapped her hands in satisfaction with their handiwork.

"Indeed. No matter how many times we do this, this attire truly suits you perfectly, Your Majesty," Irene commented.

Arabella glanced at the mirror; her maids had indeed dolled her up perfectly. She was ready for the meeting.

"Thank you. It’s because you always take care of me and dress me up well," Arabella smiled.

"Your Majesty is so humble. You’re already so pretty even without all these," Carla added.

"Oh my, thank you," Arabella chuckled.

Her maids were very good with their flattery as well.

Knock. Knock.

Someone knocked at her door, so their chatter stopped.

"Arabella?"

It was Ferdinand.

"His Majesty is here," her maids said, and gave Arabella one final look.

When they all looked satisfied, they all gave a thumbs up.

"Should we open it now, Your Majesty?" Eunice inquired.

"Yes, please," Arabella nodded, and her maids opened the door for Ferdinand to enter.

Ferdinand’s eyes lit up the instant he saw her.

"You look even more gorgeous today," Ferdinand said as he kissed the back of her hand.

"Thank you," Arabella’s heart raced at the way his eyes brightened and warmed when he looked at her.

She wanted to give him a hug and a kiss. But she might ruin their outfit which their maids and butlers worked hard to prepare. Her makeup and hairstyle as well.

"Hmm, it seems you didn’t miss me as much this time," Ferdinand said as they walked.

[I didn’t get her usual welcoming hug every time I returned. Were three days too short for her to miss me? I rather love the hugs she always gave me and the way she says my name in glee upon seeing me.]

Ferdinand was disappointed he did not get the usual reaction.

"Haha. I did miss you, but I’ll give you all the hugs you want after our meeting. My maids worked hard to ensure there’s not a single fold in this outfit nor a stray lock out of place on my hair," Arabella honestly explained.

Running into his arms was also not appropriate with her high heels on and her long dress.

She had to be careful in this get up.

Ferdinand eyed her from head to foot.

"They did their job well. Still, this should be alright," Ferdinand kissed her on the forehead.

It was a short peck, so it was alright.

"Yes," Arabella chuckled.

A kiss on the lips would be a no, for now, since her maids just did her lipstick perfectly.

It hadn’t dried completely yet, so a kiss on the lips could have left a smudge on Ferdinand’s lips.

Once her lipstick has dried enough for it not to smudge, then it should be fine.

"The Pope is already here. Are you ready?" Ferdinand inquired and Arabella nodded.

They were receiving the Pope in one of the most secure rooms in the Magic Tower.

It was both to ensure he gets out of Valeria safely to prevent any conflicts with the Great Temple; and likewise, to ensure the Pope and his followers did not spy on any of their secrets.

"Let’s go then," Ferdinand said as they reached the hallway outside her chambers.

Zion teleported them in front of the room where the Pope was waiting.

Riley was there waiting for them.

The Pope and his men had already seen Riley when they were in Medeus, so it was he, who would accompany them inside.

Zion would keep himself hidden and guard outside.

Arabella took a deep breath. She was a bit nervous.

This meeting was not only to ensure the Great Temple and the Pope were not involved in the poisons and anti-magic weapons.

It was also to ensure another Great War does not occur again.

If the Great Temple and the Pope were indeed involved in what happened in Crux, it may well mean they are conspiring against the long-lived raises.

Which means, the long-lived races would also do everything they can to protect their kind.

Ferdinand and the others wanted to nip this in the bud while it’s just beginning. Or else, it could lead to another conflict that will only cause losses for both sides.

"Relax. You don’t have to worry too much. Let’s just speak with him as we usually do with everyone else, like in normal circumstances," Ferdinand squeezed her hand gently.

’But we’re not in usual circumstances! This is something to deter another Great War from happening again!’ Arabella screamed inside her head.

"Haha. Your face tells me you believe otherwise. Still, there’s no need to panic. Or should we take a walk outside first?"

Ferdinand offered to give her some time to calm down.

Arabella held his hand tightly and closed her eyes. She took several deep breaths to calm her nerves.

"No, I’m fine now. Let’s head inside," Arabella said, after she successfully pushed away the nervousness.

"Alright then."

Ferdinand gestured at Rendell, and he opened the door for them.

They were met with a greeting led by Raymond who, was already inside.

It seems he entertained the Pope while Arabella and Ferdinand were preparing.

Everyone except for the Pope bowed their heads.
