"Now, come here," Ferdinand patted the space beside him on the bed.

’Don’t tell me... Are we going to do that again? I haven’t recovered from the things we did this dawn, though.’

Arabella gulped nervously.

She slept for several hours, but it wasn’t enough for her body to recover. And she just did a lot of work today, too.

’I’m already sleepy. I don’t think I’ll last even one round.’

[Why is she just standing there?]

Ferdinand stared at her for a second and was wide-eyed when he realized why she was hesitating.

"Arabella, I won’t do anything tonight. I know you’re tired. I still have a lot of work to do, too. I’ll just wait for you to fall asleep and get back to work," Ferdinand explained.

"Oh, then you can get back to work. I think I’ll fall asleep easily tonight," Arabella said as she had another yawn.

"No, I’ll stay here for a bit first. I want to stay until you’re sound asleep," Ferdinand patted the bed again.

Arabella was too sleepy to debate, so she simply got into bed.

She lay down, and Ferdinand did too.

"Why are you staying so far away?" Ferdinand asked.

The space between them was just an arm’s length, but he called it far.

Then again, they are a couple, and they usually sleep much closer.

But she was worried he might get tempted to do something if she got too close.

Arabella knew she did not have the energy for it, so she did not dare do anything to arouse him.

"Come here," Ferdinand pulled her towards him effortlessly when she did not move closer.

’Grrr. Does he not even feel my weight?! It’s like he just pulled a pillow towards him!’

Arabella wondered if he was simply too strong or she was too light. Or maybe, both.

"Don’t stay too far away. The distance hurts. It’s like you don’t want me here," Ferdinand said and wrapped her in his arms, bringing their bodies together.

"It’s not like that. Of course, I want you here," Arabella quickly clarified. "I just didn’t want to trigger you when I know I can’t do it tonight."

"I randomly get horny even with just thoughts of you. So don’t worry about me and just sleep," Ferdinand said without a shred of embarrassment.

"Then, don’t blame me," Arabella said, hugging him, and closed her eyes.

"I won’t," Ferdinand kissed her forehead and did not do anything else.

’’His warmth feels so nice,’ Arabella thought.

It felt so comforting and safe in his arms like this.

Her sleepiness got worse, and she was ready to rest, but then, she recalled, she forgot to ask something and looked up.

"When are you returning to Sibruh?" Arabella inquired.

She had been enjoying his company today, but she knew he would return there for more work eventually.

"After I finish all the work Raymond had piled up on my table," Ferdinand replied. "I’ll probably be able to finish them before dawn."

"Oh, so I won’t be awake yet to see you off. I should tell my maids to wake up earlier than usual," Arabella was about to sit up. Ferdinand did not let her.

"No need. You should just sleep as much as you can," Ferdinand did not want her to cut on her sleep any more. "I’ll drop by here to give you a kiss before I leave. I’m asking permission now."

Ferdinand said he would be back in a few days anyway, since they have to meet with the Pope.

Thus, it won’t be too long before they meet again.

"Haha. Alright. I hope I wake up when you do, so I can see you off," Arabella chuckled and nuzzled against his chest.

The warmth of his body and the sound of his heartbeat lulled her to sleep before she knew it.

When Arabella woke up, it was already past dawn.

She slept so soundly that she did not feel when Ferdinand left her room or when he returned to give her a kiss as he promised.

There was a bouquet of flowers by her bedside, and Ferdinand left a note with it.

Good morning, my lovely wife!

I wanted to see your morning glory, but unfortunately, I must catch up with the work I left in Sibruh.

I picked these flowers for you before.

I hope you like them.

Arabella couldn’t help the smile on her face as she inhaled the sweet fragrance of the flowers.

’Thank you. It wasn’t bad to wake up to these as well.’

Gestures like this are simple but valuable acts of love.

The care and thoughtfulness in it help a lot in allowing them to continue feeling good about each other despite being apart.

In a good mood, even when she woke up alone, Arabella proceeded with her usual morning routine.

This time, she was early for the Court Sessions.

She immediately noticed the expectant looks from the parents of her assistants.

Her assistants could not contain their excitement about the tasks they were given and had tipped off their families that they had just received a major task from her and that they would know about it soon.

During the whole Court Session, they were expectant for Arabella to announce something.

Unfortunately for them, it wasn’t time yet to inform them about the situation in the affected territories. They would have to wait a bit more.

Once the Court Session was over, Arabella checked on palace preparations for the winter.

With the Head Butler taking care of it, everything was going well.

Thus, Arabella proceeded with checking on her maids.

She had tasked them to prepare for winter, so she summoned them for an update.

Arabella would be attending events and having tea parties in winter, so she asked them to prepare accordingly.

"We’re done with all the preparations, Your Majesty," Aletha assured her and submitted a list of the tasks they had completed.

Reading the lists, Arabella was delighted by her maids’ attention to detail.

Everything she would need for the winter and the events that come with it was already prepared and secured.

It was what her maids had been busy with for the past few days.
