Chapter 77: Nightmare [Bonus Chapter]

It felt like they had been in Prudencia for a while due to all the things they witnessed. But in fact, only half a day had passed.

Alwin ensured Arabella wouldn’t miss her lunch or else he would get scolded even more.

"Your Majesty, can we reschedule the visit to Safiro and Cordelia to another day? I have to prepare the paperwork for official investigations to begin in Prudencia as soon as possible," Raymond asked to delay her next visit.

[We need to solve this as soon as possible or the situation will get worse.]

"I also have to report all of these to His Majesty and begin investigating in Prudencia on my own," Alwin seconded.

[His Majesty is already asking for updates.]

"Alright then. Thank you for accompanying me today. This trip had been so fruitful even if we encountered unexpected problems. If there’s anything I can do to help, please inform me immediately."

"Yes, Your Majesty."

She heard from their thoughts that the two were planning to just skip lunch so she decided to invite them.

"Oh, and since it’s lunchtime, may I invite you two to join me? I don’t think I can eat alone today," she smiled at them and they glanced at each other.

"His Majesty is asking for detailed updates about the events we witnessed. I have to report to him," Alwin reasoned.

"Then, that’s even more reason to have lunch with me first. I’ll write a letter to him after eating. Please hand it to him once you report."

[A letter from Her Majesty would probably help with His Majesty’s mood.]

Alwin can no longer say no after what she said so Raymond agreed as well.

She had lunch with them and wrote her letter to Ferdinand after.

They helped her achieve her goal today, helping them eat their meal and avoid Ferdinand’s wrath was the least she could do.

Thank you for lending me your mage Alwin today.

Prudencia Palace was so beautiful. I have heard about its beauty before so I was happy to see it in person for the first time.

However, due to some unexpected circumstances, we teleported to other parts of Prudencia aside from the capital.

We found things that needed some attention. I believe Alwin and Prime Minister Raymond would report the details to you.

Please do not punish them. I was the one who insisted on things.

Please be rest assured that everyone guarded me well.

They also made sure I ate my lunch on time so you have nothing to worry about.

I heard from Alwin you wanted me to eat on time. Thank you for worrying about me. Please eat your meals on time too.

Somehow, I miss you today much more than any other day.

She left a bit of flirting to lighten up his mood since from their thoughts, Ferdinand would look so pissed once they report what happened today.

Arabella sighed in relief once she was alone in her study.

She succeeded in helping expose what was happening in Prudencia. And she didn’t even need to inform Ferdinand about it herself.

Alwin and Raymond would be the ones to do it. They already began working on it too. It was the best result she could ever have.

She thought she would have to do her best to convince Ferdinand to listen to her, but there was no need since Alwin and Raymond were with her.

She just hoped they could do something about the problems in Prudencia as soon as possible.

From Nadia and Odette’s thoughts, Safiro was so much more in a bad shape compared to Prudencia.

There was a difference in the desperateness between Nadia and Odette. Which meant Arabella would be seeing a much worse scenario in Safiro.

Raymond said to give them a day or two to process everything necessary for Prudencia before they could head to Safiro.

What could she do while waiting?

’Nadia’s priority was to bring food supplies to Safiro. Should I ask my maids to tell the chefs to order a lot of food? Alwin seems to be able to teleport goods too. If Safiro was in dire need, perhaps bringing food supply with us would help. But how would I explain my actions?’

She cannot. She has never meddled with the supplies in the Imperial Kitchen so she couldn’t suddenly interfere now. She had to patiently wait until after they went to Safiro.

As such, she remained in her study reading books instead. She waited in case Alwin comes with an update but he didn’t.

Still, she had already achieved one of her goals so she was relieved to have at least taken another step forward.

When she retired to her room at night, she fell asleep from exhaustion after all the stress she experienced.

But as she was asleep, Arabella had a nightmare. And in her dream, it was a five-year-old Fermin who was getting beaten by the collectors, not Marie’s son.

"NO! Stop! Don’t hurt him!" She screamed but she was ignored.

"Don’t hurt him!!!"

She tried to run to Fermin to stop the collector or shield her son with her body. But she couldn’t move.

She could do nothing but helplessly watch no matter how she tried to move.

Arabella realized she was just having a nightmare but she couldn’t wake herself up to stop the dream.

Her nightmare was even worse than what she witnessed in Prudencia. No one came to stop the collector until he was satisfied beating up Fermin.

She paled and trembled in fury and fear at the sight of Fermin’s blood on the ground.

She screamed in rage repeatedly to no avail.

She resigned to begging and pleading for the collector to stop. But he couldn’t hear her at all.

When the collector left, Arabella could finally move. She ran to Fermin and scooped him up in her arms, but he was already cold and lifeless.

"NO!!!" she screamed.

She shivered when all of a sudden she was once again back to a decade ago and the one in her arms was the cold corpse of Fermin after he was poisoned.

And Fermin didn’t wake up no matter how she shook him awake.

No one came to help no matter how she begged and prayed for help.

"Arabella. . ."

"Arabella, wake up!"

She gasped as she woke up being shaken by Ferdinand.
