Chapter 596: Can We Do It Outside?
Arabella looped her arms around his neck and kissed him.
On his balcony at the palace, they had enjoyed the night sky adorned with a canvas of stars. Seeing Alwin and Alvis at work was also quite magical.
And yet, being in Ferdinand’s arms like this, kissed by him with such an intense longing enough to make her shiver and melt, was still the sweetest.
Being in this isolated mansion amidst the full moon gave them as much privacy as they wanted. Not that anyone would ever dare peek at them at the palace though.
It was just that they were the only ones in this whole mansion and surrounding area. It made things somehow more intimate since they did not need to worry about anyone or anything else.
It was perfect for them after not being able to see each other for more than two months. Now she understood why Ferdinand decided to go here.
She could hear the gentle flow of the spring nearby. But their heavy breathing and the sound of their heartbeats were even louder.
"Shall we do it outside while we have the chance?" Ferdinand asked when they broke apart for air reluctantly.
He caught his breath quickly while Arabella was still panting, her knees weak, and her body warm.
"Outside?" Arabella blinked twice, surprised by the suggestion. Her mind was still fuzzy from their kiss.
"Yes, it would be too cold for you once winter begins, so now is our chance," Ferdinand teleported them to the flower garden outside the mansion before she could reply.
Arabella blushed when she recalled their intimate times at one of the pools of water nearby.
"Why do we have to do it outside?" Arabella pouted and looked around.
She was about to complain about how weird it was to do it outside but when she looked around, she gasped instead.
"Wow! It’s so pretty."
This flower garden was already beautiful in daylight but under the luminous silvery embrace of the full moon, the symphony of crickets, and the rhythm of the spring water flowing gently, it was enchanting and mesmerizing.
Fireflies abound too especially near the spring. They spread around due to sensing that someone just arrived. The golden glow of the fireflies as they moved about almost seemed like a dance, and it was such a pretty sight to behold.
A gentle breeze blew, and the rustling leaves seemed to whisper secrets to one another while the flowers swayed gracefully as the breeze passed by.
This place was simply so magical at night. It was something that seemed to be only in fairy tales she used to read when she was younger.
It especially reminded her of the abode of the fairies.
Arabella looked around again.
Why does it feel like this place was a treasure trove of memories and forgotten dreams from ancient times?
It almost felt like she had been here a long, long time ago and her heart and soul were delighted to behold this sight again.
She gazed at the vibrant flowers around them. They had a different beauty to them under the glow of the moon.
A sweet fragrance filled the air. It was the scent of the flowers. Those that were more active at night were the most fragrant and they were like some kind of aphrodisiac.
It made the garden the perfect place for a romantic date or a passionate time together.
Arabella smiled. Ferdinand could be such a hopeless romantic too; and yet, he said he didn’t know anything about romantic relationships, so he was still learning.
’Wait, this scent,’ Arabella picked up the familiar scent of jasmine flowers.
"You had jasmine flowers planted here?" Arabella looked around but couldn’t see them. She was sure there was no jasmine here before.
"Yes. You always smell like them," Ferdinand grinned. "Over there."
He pointed to a spot shaded by the shadow of trees and Arabella indeed found jasmine flowers there.
Jasmine flowers need partial shade from the intense sun at daytime which must be why he had them planted nearby tall trees.
"I planted them myself and nourished them so they would grow quickly and bloom," Ferdinand added, and Arabella gave him a kiss on the cheek.
His subjects in Valeria would be shocked he planted something himself and they were blooming so beautifully. He was hiding such talents.
She recalled that he crafted the fan he gave her at Medeus as well.
’What should I make for him?’ Arabella wanted to do give him something in return.
"Do you like them that much?" she teased her husband. She would think of a handmade gift for him later.
"No. You like them," Ferdinand corrected. "Their scent is always on the things you use. And they mix well with your natural scent."
"Didn’t you plant them because you like their scent," Arabella continued teasing him.
"No."
"Really?"
"Fine. I like them a bit since they smell like you. But it’s still different. The scent of jasmine changes once its mixed with your scent. It’s your scent that I like the most not the jasmine itself," Ferdinand clarified as if he had to make the distinction.
"Yes, yes," Arabella chuckled.
Ferdinand groaned in complaint and stopped himself from giving more explanation since it would make him look even more in denial.
Arabella noticed that beside the jasmine flowers, there was another field of new plants that weren’t here before.
"What about those flowers next to it? They haven’t bloomed yet, but it’s already autumn. Winter would begin in a few days."
"Ah, I also planted those months ago since I thought you would like them. They also need shade in the morning. They bloom at night and especially more beautiful in the full moon. It’s just about time. Watch them," Ferdinand glanced at the moon before gazing at the flowers again.
Arabella wondered what he meant and understood why once the clouds that shaded the moon for a bit finally passed by.
