Chapter 594: Don’t Get Distracted by Them, Focus on Me
It was then that she noticed Alwin and Alvis walking to the forest.
"What are they doing?"
Arabella gasped when she saw the two levitate using magic until they were at the tallest tree. They hopped on one branch each.
"Ah, that. Elves love trees so in their territory, even as the weather changes, they usually take care of the trees and maintain them throughout the seasons.
Alwin, Riley, and the others had been taking care of the trees here.
Watch what they’ll do next," Ferdinand pointed out.
Right then, golden green light was emitted from Alwin and Alvis and it spread throughout the forest.
The forest glowed green too and the trees began growing new branches and leaves. Even those that almost completely had no leaf left, became full of life.
’Right. I forgot Alwin grew an entire forest in Safiro which was barren and dry. But that one can be considered small compared to this island.’
This island was huge, and the forest here had much taller and thicker trees compared to forests in the human realm that Arabella had seen so far.
She was astounded as she continued watching the two.
Ferdinand explained that they were sharing their mana with the forest to sustain and protect it.
"Even those that are not evergreen among these trees are unlikely to freeze in winter now that Alvis, the King of Elves himself sustained them. Elves have a natural affinity to nature especially with trees. And their King is the best at it."
"Wow, so the legends are true. It’s so amazing to see something like this with my own eyes."
It was the Elf King in action too.
"You seem more delighted seeing this than being with me," Ferdinand commented.
"Huh?" Arabella blinked and eyed her husband.
Why would he even compare two entirely different things?
But he looked pouty. Was it because her attention was caught by something else when they were all sweet earlier?
Arabella decided to appease him. She missed pampering him too.
"I am witnessing such things because of you. And you are here with me watching it. It makes things even more magical," Arabella said, and his ears turned red.
"Really?" he wanted a little more soothing.
"Yes," Arabella cupped his cheek.
"Then kiss me," Ferdinand demanded.
"Eh? Wouldn’t they see us?" Arabella glanced at Alwin and Alvis who were still nurturing the forests.
Ferdinand pulled her to him and flicked his fingers. A barrier appeared.
"There, they can’t see us here," he said and waited for the kiss he asked for.
Arabella was unsure if Alwin and Alvis truly could not see them now since she could still see them. Thus, she kissed Ferdinand on the cheek, not on the lips.
He pouted again and she chuckled.
"Can they really not see us?"
"Yes. If you don’t believe me then here," he flicked his fingers again and the barrier turned into a solid marble wall.
She could no longer see Alwin and Alvis either.
"Don’t get distracted by them. Focus on me," Ferdinand complained.
She chuckled and no longer made her husband wait. She kissed him on the lips. Just a feather-light one and he made a low growl of complaint.
[How is that enough? Is she teasing me?]
Yes, she was. Because he looked so cute.
She smiled when his eyes demanded more.
Arabella gave him another and lingered this time.
When she was about to pull away, he cupped her face and leaned in, unwilling to cut the kiss.
When he finally pulled away, she ushered them to get seated again, or else they would begin doing naughty stuff before the food they ate was digested.
"Right, Ferdinand. Your appearance when you just arrived. I’m curious about it," Arabella distracted him since his mind was already beginning to stray after they kissed.
She had been wanting to ask more details about his part human part dragon look.
"Did it scare you?"
He already asked her this before and she already said no. He seemed worried that she didn’t like that form.
"No. Why would it? You rather looked cool that way," Arabella grinned, and Ferdinand seemed surprised.
"Are you sure? Aren’t you just saying it, so I won’t be offended?"
[I was in such a hurry that I forgot to shift before appearing before her earlier.]
"Not at all. I thought it was cool. You looked so mysterious. And your horns were cute. I want to touch them," Arabella wanted to know what it felt like in her hands. His wings and tail as well.
It must feel different from his full dragon body since they looked different. A mini version compared to his gargantuan one.
"You are a little weird," Ferdinand held her chin.
"How so?"
"Humans are usually so scared when they see that form. A lot of those who had seen that form before loathed that I looked partly human. See," he eyed her knowing she would see what he was thinking about.
He wanted to show her instead of telling her.
Arabella gazed into his eyes and saw how in the past, humans who had seen him that way ran away in fear, called him a monster and tried to attack him, and never dared to listen to him when he tried to talk to them.
"It was cool though," Arabella pouted and hugged him.
She could understand why they would fear at first, but he looked marvelous when you looked closely.
"Tsk. You looked handsome in that form too. How can they be so blind," Arabella complained when she saw in his eyes how some had looked at him like he was some disgusting and reviling abomination.
They treated him like he was the evil incarnate just because he had horns. A lot of animals had horns too. What would they make of it?
"You really are weird," Ferdinand chuckled and kissed her. He no longer looked depressed.
She was glad the sad look in his eyes was gone. She kissed him on the cheek, and he wrapped her tighter in his arms, his eyes looking bright.
She missed this quite a lot.
"That form was something I learned to do after learning to shapeshift. Me and my fellow dragons used that form a long time ago when we learned to build our own abodes. I later on learned that it was our natural alternate form when we wanted to be smaller."
"Oh, so it wasn’t supposed to be like this," Arabella gestured to his perfectly human look.
"Yes, it wasn’t. We only had to shift to hide our dragon features since it terrified humans who had the most population. We adapted to their look so they wouldn’t have to run and scream, every time they see us."
