Chapter 589: Fighting with a Fellow Primordial
[She wouldn’t get angry, right?] Ferdinand eyed her nervously.
Arabella returned his gaze and did not say anything for a few seconds, teasing him a bit.
[She’s angry?! What should I do?]
Ferdinand gulped and stared at the ground, unable to maintain eye contact since he felt guilty that he caused a fight.
"Haha. You’re so cute," Arabella cupped his face so she could meet his gaze.
[That word again. What does she mean when she says that? I was never cute.]
Ferdinand was puzzled but he was relieved to hear those words from her.
He understood by now that when she uttered those words, she wasn’t angry.
’Why did I say that out loud?’
Arabella didn’t explain what she found cute since it might sound weird. But she truly does find him cute right now.
"What I meant to say was, I’m not angry at you since they did deserve a bit of punishment for making Alwin go through all that. So, what you did was alright. Especially since there were no casualties, and it wasn’t in residential areas of their people."
Arabella did not want to be too strict with him since he might feel stifled.
Evania’s father also truly did deserve a bit of punishment for what happened to Alwin.
If they simply let it go like nothing happened, the shadows might look down on Ferdinand, Valeria, and even Estrella as a whole.
Thus, Ferdinand showing that he was displeased and not scared to act on it, was alright.
It was a show of power and Arabella understood that it was necessary at times.
Likewise, Ferdinand himself, a Primordial Dragon, going there to pick up an elf, already showed just how important Alwin was.
They would not dare do that to Alwin for a second time if he was sent there ever again or to any of their messengers for that matter.
"I see. Thank you," Ferdinand sighed in relief. He truly feared her getting angry at him since he did not want to be ignored again.
"Then, can you explain why you ended up fighting with another primordial?" Arabella returned them to their earlier topic.
"Right," Ferdinand tensed up again when he recalled he wasn’t forgiven yet for taking too long to return.
"After Alvis and I reached an agreement with the King of the Shadows, we were supposed to stay in the Shadow Territory and wait for Darcus and Orpheus to return with Evania.
But Nero, the Primordial Dragon of Darkness, appeared out of nowhere and teleported us to his territory."
Of course, Ferdinand was annoyed about it. Thus, when he was challenged into a fight, he readily agreed.
"Nero?" Arabella repeated the name.
"Yes, it’s short for Nereus Rodell. He was the second eldest among us. He insisted that my presence disturbed his slumber. He was so annoying, so I ended up fighting with him."
[It’s not like it was my fault that he woke up. He could have just remained sleeping, but he chose to satisfy his curiosity.]
Nero provoked a fight and reasoned that it was because his sleep was disturbed by Ferdinand’s sudden appearance in Umbra.
However, it was actually his choice whether he woke up or not. The truth was he woke up out of curiosity as to why Ferdinand would go there and fight someone.
"When we began fighting, I kept recalling you, so I wanted to stop. But Nero was so persistent."
Thus, they never stopped fighting until Ferdinand felt Arabella receiving a lot of mana from Alwin.
Alvis got busy maintaining the barrier in Nero’s territory to prevent the tremendous mana of the two from destroying the surroundings and possibly harming other inhabitants.
They did not notice days and months had gone by since the flow of time in Nero’s territory was quite warped due to his tremendous mana.
"When Alvis and I felt Alwin’s presence, we both wanted to return to Estrella.
But Nero would not allow us and kept attacking.
He said it was payment for awakening him," Ferdinand made a face and sighed in exasperation.
[Tsk. And Nero is the second eldest so he’s much stronger than me.]
Ferdinand tried to avoid getting injured since Arabella might panic if she saw him gravely injured. He did not want to worry her or go into hibernation.
It would have been easier if he was like his past self who would have loved if he got heavily injured to the point of hibernating for several hundreds of years or ended up dying.
[But I have Arabella now. I couldn’t allow myself to get hurt and be in hibernation to recover.
I had to return no matter what.]
He did not forget about her while he was in a fight. He was still fretting about things related to her.
’I see. Ferdinand was thinking about me too,’ Arabella felt her heart skip a beat.
It made her happy to know that Ferdinand did not forget about her because he was in a fight.
"Nero noticed I was being careful.
He knew it was so different compared to how I fought in the past.
Thus, he kept on attacking to see what I would do.
And later on, I felt you receiving so much mana and quickly headed here."
Since Nero was so strong, Ferdinand could not allow himself to let his guard down or else he might get seriously injured beyond his regenerative ability.
But when he felt Arabella receiving so much mana, he got distracted which was why one of his wings had a massive hole from Nero’s attack.
It still healed quickly though, making Arabella wonder what their definition of seriously injured was.
[I didn’t want to tell him about Arabella since he might get curious about her as well.
But I forgot all about it when I felt Arabella receiving a lot of mana from Alwin.
I ended up saying my wife got gravely injured, so I needed to leave.
I hope he simply went back to sleep after that.]
Ferdinand panicked, so he simply grabbed Alvis and teleported back to Estrella.
