Chapter 561: Inform Her of the Truth
Chapter 561: Inform Her of the Truth
"Just be grateful you had a good sleep. Your skin looks so much better now," Arabella pointed out.
"Ugh, fine," Alwin sighed as he made a mirror appear out of nowhere and checked himself. He did look much better. And he was no longer as cranky after he got some rest.
Knock. Knock.
"Your Majesty, I’ve brought your tea," Renee gently knocked on the door.
Alwin and Riley instantly made themselves invisible.
"You may come in," Arabella responded. She had asked Eunice to have Renee be the one to deliver tea in her study.
It was so Alwin could secretly check her.
Darcus and Orpheus had reported the past few days that Evania’s mana and dark energy kept rising the more they were with her so Alwin had to check before they decided what to do.
Arabella silently watched as Renee poured tea for her.
Renee’s eyes and aura were much brighter. She had been in a good mood ever since she kept meeting with Darcus and Orpheus.
’She must have regrets of leaving her home even if she didn’t have memories of them.’
"Thank you," Arabella said and pretended to be busy working. Renee then excused herself.
Once Renee had left, Alwin reappeared.
"Her mana had increased too much in a matter of days. We cannot have her stay here anymore while she doesn’t have memories of how to control her powers. Her Shadow Energy had also spiked too much. If she gets too emotional while none of us are watching, the people near her would be in danger."
Alwin was able to check that much after just a few minutes.
"I see. Then, perhaps it’s time to tell her the truth and have her memories recovered. She had been getting along well with Darcus and Orpheus the past few days."
Arabella knew they could not allow the people here to be exposed to danger, so it was better to have Evania leave as soon as possible. It would also be better for Alwin, so he won’t keep suffering from the curse and must constantly heal himself.
The truth would likely still be a shock to her, but at least Renee had a clue now that they were not evil people trying to take advantage of her.
"Yes, that would be for the best," Alwin agreed.
Darcus and Orpheus were then summoned to Arabella’s study and the four of them had a meeting. When they came to a consensus, Arabella summoned Renee to her study.
. . .
"Your Majesty, I heard you wanted to speak with me."
Renee arrived immediately.
"Yes, sit down. We have a lot to speak about," Arabella ushered to the couch, and Renee gulped when she realized it was likely about the things they spoke about last time.
"Remember what I told you a few days ago? The people I had asked to come here and help you had arrived. I believe it’s time to introduce you to them. But before that, do you think you are ready?" Arabella eyed Renee.
[I wish I had had more time to see Darcus and Orpheus. I want to see Alwin for the last time too before I leave. But Her Majesty even asked people to help me. I must grab this opportunity while help is available for me.]
Renee was silent for a few minutes and pondered over it. Finally, she said, "Yes, Your Majesty."
"I see. If that’s the case, you need to prepare your letter of resignation. I will approve it so you can tell your family that I have given you permission to leave."
"Yes, Your Majesty. I have already prepared the letter."
"I see. But before you head to Zygos, there’s something very important about you that you need to know. It will be shocking and painful, but I believe you must know about the whole truth before doing anything else," Arabella began, and Renee was confused.
"The whole truth? There’s something more I do not know?" Renee blinked repeatedly.
"Sadly, yes."
[What else do I not know? I have my memories of my three lives. What did I miss?]
Renee gulped nervously and rubbed her chest. She was confused and fearful when she realized there were still things, she needed to know about herself.
"Would you still like to know?" Arabella eyed Renee seriously.
Renee closed her eyes and took a deep breath, strengthening her resolve and preparing herself for whatever it was.
"Yes, Your Majesty, please tell me everything. What else do I not know about myself? Why does Your Majesty know about it, but I do not?"
"Alright. Everything I will tell you is a tightly kept secret. All of it may sound impossible and unbelievable, yet it is the truth. First, do you believe non-human races exist?"
"Non-human races? I don’t think so. I believe in reincarnation since I have reincarnated thrice. But I don’t know about other races," Renee had not encountered one. But she does know that monsters exist.
"The thing is non-human races exist. Dragons, elves, giants, and a lot more. They were simply living in a separate location from us, so we do not encounter them."
"They do?!! Have Your Majesty met one?!" Renee gasped.
"Yes. What do you like about Alwin?"
[Eh? What does Alwin have to do with this?]
Renee did not understand but still answered Arabella’s question since it was about Alwin after all.
"I like everything about him, Your Majesty. He’s divinely beautiful. He’s knowledgeable and powerful. Even the way he coldly glares at me when I stare at him gives me shivers," Renee spoke animatedly.
Poor Darcus and Orpheus who were sitting in the next room heard it and fumed at Alwin.
They thought Renee no longer thought of Alwin much since she had been meeting with them every day. They were horrified that her voice changed so much when she began talking about Alwin.
"Alwin is not human," Arabella revealed, and Renee froze and gawked at her.
They had agreed that Alwin would be the example Arabella would use since they would reveal that he was the one who went to Umbra to inform Evania’s family about her whereabouts.
"What’s that supposed to mean, Your Majesty? If he’s not human, then what is he?" Renee blinked repeatedly.
