Reborn as a Mind-Reading Empress -
Chapter 523: Alwin’s Uncle
Chapter 523: Alwin’s Uncle
"Lift your head. I was merely doing my duty as your superior. I should have ensured something like that didn’t happen in the first place," Arabella smiled.
[It wasn’t Her Majesty’s fault but Narcissa’s. Who would expect she was the one who would do something like that? Hopefully, none of that will happen again. My hard work seems to have finally paid off. I finally have a superior like this. I hope Her Majesty remains like this.]
"Thank you, Your Majesty. I will do my best to be a capable assistant and be of help," Ivan bowed and thanked her again instead.
His former superiors were all envious of him and did not treat him well, so he was like this when he finally had a better superior.
Arabella couldn’t say she wasn’t envious of Ivan’s abilities in the least bit.
Who wouldn’t be?
He was simply too superb. Too Capable.
But instead of doing something bad to him, it was better to maximize what he could do and utilize him.
Everything he could do would be useless if he was buried out of envy. He should be allowed to showcase them instead and allowed to further blossom to the best of his potential. And she planned to do just that.
.
.
.
Arabella focused on work to distract herself from her worries. Work always does a good job doing that.
When break time came, she had tea with Ivan, Ronald, and Rowan.
They were just about to return to work when suddenly, there was a commotion outside.
"Where is the Great Primordial? I need to speak with him. I can sense some of his presence here. Is this how his human body feels?"
A voice she hadn’t heard before said.
"His Majesty is in Valeria. Please return on another day," Rendell replied.
"Is that so? Then why do I feel his presence here? And why do I feel the presence of a new bud inside? Are you hiding another talent from me like you did with Alwin?!"
[This voice and this presence! Why is the King of Elves here?] Rowan thought and Arabella was wide-eyed.
’King of Elves?! I will get to see the King of Elves?! Wait, this isn’t the right time for that.’
"With all due respect, no one tried to hide Alwin from you. And you are not allowed to enter. This is the study of Her Majesty, the Empress of Valeria," Rendell replied.
"No. You are hiding something from me. I need to speak with the Great Primordial."
[What if Her Majesty’s assistants heard his voice? This room is not soundproof.] Rendell thought.
Arabella glanced at Ivan and Ronald, and they heard the commotion indeed. They looked alarmed and confused.
[Who dares insist on entering Her Majesty’s study?]
[This is not in Valeria? I thought this was within the Empire. Just how far can His Majesty’s magician teleport?]
"It’s alright. You may return to work," she said to the two. "It seems we have a guest. I will see them in another room."
Arabella rose to meet whoever it was before her assistants heard more details they should not know. Rowan followed her. But before she could even walk to the door, someone teleported into her study.
"A-Alwin?!" Arabella gasped and stared at the man in front of him.
’Oh, it wasn’t him,’ she thought in disappointment.
She thought Alwin finally returned. But it was someone else. He looked a bit like Alwin, but he looked older and had a more mature aura about him. She got misled by the same hair color and length.
"F-Fairy Queen?!" the man was wide-eyed upon seeing her.
"Pardon?" Arabella tilted her head. She stared at the man who suddenly looked emotional.
"Y-You are alive?! I’m so sorry, I couldn’t protect you back then. I was also in a situation. Ah, but rest assured, your children are safe with me. I have watched over them and they are all grown up now," the man continued.
"Children? I don’t understand what you mean," Arabella was confused.
’What’s that supposed to mean?’
"This is Her Imperial Majesty, Arabella Lobelius Valeria, the Empress of His Imperial Majesty. Show some respect," Rendell had entered and corrected their guest.
{She is the mate of my lord. How rude of you to behave like this.}
"Ah, I see. You have reincarnated. You go by that name now," the man slowly nodded his head.
[Ah, right. How could she be the Fairy Queen when her entire body disintegrated? She had long passed on and this is her reincarnation... It seems she’s acquainted with Alwin for her to have mistaken me for him.]
"Greetings, mate of the Great Primordial. I am Alvis, the Former King of the Elves. With our small population now, I am but the Chief. Alwin is my nephew. Please forgive my rudeness. I thought the Great Primordial was refusing to meet me. I have important matters to discuss with him."
[His scent and presence on her is quite strong so I thought it was him. Just how much of his mana did he give her? Isn’t he giving too much? Can a human body even handle it?]
"I see. My husband is currently in Valeria. May I speak with you instead while we wait for his return?"
’Wait! How will I explain all this to Ivan and Ronald?!’ Arabella recalled her assistants. Alvis’ elf ears were visible.
"Yes, please. It would be my honor. I-" Alvis didn’t continue when his attention was caught by something behind her.
"The bud has blossomed," Alvis said, and Arabella followed his gaze.
"R-Ronald?!" Arabella gasped when she saw Ronald with elf ears. And his black hair was turning into a white color.
"My mana seems to have awakened his sleeping abilities. I see. . . He is Regis’ son. I had been pestering him to bring his child home, but he said he hadn’t shown any signs yet."
[What happened to me?! I felt my ears change and my hair did as well. What’s this?! And why does that man know my father?!]
"Y-Your Majesty?!" Ronald asked in a panic. He didn’t understand what was going on.
[I wouldn’t be killed after everything I have heard and seen today, right?!]
Ivan was shocked as well, and he realized he just witnessed something he shouldn’t have so he was trying to lay low as much as he could.
’What am I going to do with this situation?!’ Arabella sighed deeply.
"Your Majesty, you don’t have to entertain him. He may return once His Majesty is back," Rowan finally spoke up.
"You have caused quite the commotion. Please leave for now," Rendell said as well after realizing that Ivan who was a full-blooded human, had witnessed everything.
"You two are so rude. Her Majesty already said she would speak with me. And all elves are under my jurisdiction. Even Regis’ son," Alvis stared at Ronald.
"Uhm, please spare the child. He’s not aware of everything yet," Arabella reminded Alvis.
[Right. No wonder he looks horrified.]
"Ronald, that’s something you have inherited from your father so please don’t worry. We will explain everything later. You too Ivan. There’s no need to worry," Arabella tried to calm them since they were confused as hell.
