Chapter 34: Fermin [Bonus Chapter]
"You don’t have a choice in this matter. I am not going to do it for you. I am doing this for milord. So if I succeed; no, I am going to succeed no matter what so make sure to atone for your sins. If you still cannot love milord, at least be considerate of his feelings," Alwin glared at her.
’No! Someone as loyal as you should keep staying by his side. What can I even do for his sake?’
Arabella had only done terrible things to Ferdinand when she was alive. Alwin shouldn’t risk his life to revive her. What if he truly lost his life?
"I have lived a long time beside milord, so I know he would never be happy without you. He would just revert to his old self and hibernate for a long time. Worst yet, he would choose to die. I’d rather risk my life and see milord get a taste of happiness. I am content as long as he is happy. You are what he needs and wants by his side. I believe he had suffered as you wanted. You have gotten what you want. So this time, please give him a little bit of happiness," Alwin bowed his head.
’Don’t bow your head to me. I killed your lord. I hurt him so much. Why are you asking me this?’
Arabella tried to stop Alwin but her hands passed through.
Before she could respond to Alwin, the dragons arrived.
The first to arrive was the huge dragon. Once he settled his feet on the ground, he changed into human form.
Arabella gulped nervously. The larger dragon truly turned into Ferdinand. And not into when he was forty-five. His appearance was when he was still in his late twenties or early thirties.
"Arabella!" Ferdinand rushed to her coffin and embraced her corpse. He lovingly caressed her cheek. "Why?! Why would you hurt yourself? You can’t leave me like this."
There was so much emotion in his eyes and Arabella flinched when he wept. It was hard to believe Ferdinand could also cry.
Alwin clearly thought the same. It was probably also the first time for him to see his master cry. Alwin glared at Arabella to emphasize this was her fault.
’I’m so sorry,’ she bowed her head since she could not speak.
Ferdinand’s broad shoulders trembled and his green eyes were filled with sadness and regret.
’Why would you cry like this for someone who hurt you so much?’ Arabella bit her lip and stopped herself from crying at the scene in front of her.
How could she deny his love when he mourns this much at her death? When he holds her corpse so dearly as if she truly was so precious to him?
Her chest and head ached so much. How could she be so wrong in everything?
Before she could wallow in regret and guilt, the smaller dragon finally arrived. He flew much slower than Ferdinand probably due to the difference in size and wingspan.
Arabella gasped when he touched the ground and turned into human form. He looked exactly like Ferdinand except for his amber eyes and gentler demeanor.
’FERMIN?!!!’
Arabella couldn’t be wrong. This boy looked exactly like her son, except he looked about three years older than Fermin when he died.
Her son was just about to turn twelve when he died and he should be in his twenties by now though.
But this boy resembled her son so much.
And somehow, Arabella was sure this was her son. Her motherly instinct was screaming. She could feel that this boy is Fermin. And she was dying to hold him in her arms.
Arabella turned to Alwin wordlessly asking him the question, ’He is my son, right?’
Alwin nodded and tears overflowed from Arabella’s eyes. She could no longer hold them back.
’Fermin! Fermin! My adorable little boy.’
He was so much taller but he was as adorable as before. No, he was even more adorable now no matter how much he grew.
It had been so long since she last saw him. Ten years. A whole decade had passed.
Fermin Evandrus Valeria, her beloved son. He was Arabella and Ferdinand’s only child. He was a charming and cheerful boy since Arabella raised him herself.
She would never forget what he looked like since she longed to see him every single day. She worried about how he was doing all alone wherever he was after his death.
Arabella’s only wish after everything she had done was to be with her son. She thought he was in the afterlife so she killed herself.
She couldn’t be more wrong.
Who would have thought Fermin still existed in the world of the living?
Fermin was in Estrella.
’Was he also like Ferdinand? Did he also have another body in Estrella since he had dragon blood?’
It was the only reason she could think of since she had held Fermin’s cold corpse in her arms for a long time until he had to be cremated. She had watched as her son’s body turned to ashes.
Still, what’s most important right now, was Fermin was still alive and well. He looked so much taller and stronger than he was before.
And his dragon form was so beautiful and cute at the same time, especially when compared to Ferdinand’s massive body in dragon form.
With tears already flowing down her cheeks, Arabella ran to hold her son in her arms.
But her hands passed through him. And it was clear they could not see her since there was no reaction to her. They were looking at her corpse instead.
Right, she was just an observer here. Alwin was the weird one to be able to see and speak with her.
But she wished she could speak with her son even just a little bit. She wished she could hold him, give him a hug one last time.
But then again, just seeing him again was already a fervent wish she had all these years. And it was granted because Alwin brought her here.
