Chapter 1005: Sudden Lesson

Chapter 1005: Chapter 1005: Sudden Lesson

Arabella would rather not awaken bitter and lonely memories that will only hurt him and ruin the warm mood.

"I see. Then, what are the happiest memories you recall?" Arabella changed the topic.

"Moments with you," Ferdinand said warmly and kissed her hair.

Arabella blushed, and her heart raced. She was glad she could make good memories for him now, and not painful ones like her past life.

She was asking about his life before her, though. Or did he mean the best memories he had of the past were moments with her past reincarnations?

Arabella wanted to clarify, so she asked, "I mean, in the past. Before you hibernated and before the Great War."

"Ah, if it’s back then, it would be the time I had companions.

It’s alright to be alone, but after some time, I always end up bored.

Having companions led to new experiences.

Sometimes the experiences were also repetitive, like a cycle, but it was fun meeting them and experiencing life with them.

They always pass away before I do, though," Ferdinand’s tone changed at the last part.

Arabella turned to look at him and saw the sadness in his eyes for repeatedly losing comrades.

It quickly vanished, though, as he masked it again when he realized she was looking.

"You won’t ever be alone anymore," Arabella said, kissing him on the cheek.

Because this time, she had agreed to be his mate.

She would be alive as long as he is, even in the worst case that Alwin, Raymond, Rendell, and the others pass away as well before Ferdinand’s time.

They would have Fermin too, and the other children they would have together in the future from Elder Satara’s vision.

"Thank you!" Ferdinand hugged her tightly and kissed her sweetly.

[It’s so reassuring and comforting coming from her lips. It’s like she’s promising once again that she won’t ever leave me.]

Hearing his thoughts, Arabella was glad he felt better.

Meanwhile, Ferdinand peppered her with kisses.

It was such a nice gesture, and they ended up making out again.

When they could no longer hold back their longing, they did it again in the tub.

Since they dirtied the water, they had to drain it again, so they moved to the wider "tub," or rather, it’s better to call it a pool, given how wide it was.

It was filled only up to Arabella’s neck as Ferdinand promised.

"Would you like to try floating?" Ferdinand inquired.

"No, I’m fine just like this," Arabella quickly said.

"Are you sure? It feels good and relaxing. Like this," Ferdinand said.

He floated on the water so easily despite his huge body.

It looked so easy when he did. Like he simply lay on the water, and he floated.

The way he floated looked so good, though. She wanted to try it too.

"How is it done?" Arabella was ready to try.

Ferdinand returned to a standing position and demonstrated as he said, "Take a deep breath and lie down on the water. Gradually let it carry your weight like this."

He did it so easily again.

Arabella tried doing it while holding onto the edge of the pool. But when her back touched the water and her feet were lifted off the floor, she immediately panicked and scrambled to stand.

Ferdinand picked her up, and she tightly clung to his neck.

"I’m going to sink!" Arabella screamed.

"You won’t.

Calm down. Calm down.

Did you drink any of the water?" Ferdinand asked gently.

"N-no," Arabella replied as Ferdinand gently settled her.

With her feet touching the floor, she didn’t feel as scared anymore.

"It looked so easy when you did it. I thought I’d be able to do it too," Arabella pouted.

"You did. You floated for a second, even while holding onto the edge of the pool. But you panicked and moved suddenly, so your balance was thrown off," Ferdinand explained.

"Oh, I did?! Really?" Arabella was already pleased with being able to float for even just a second.

"Yes, like this," Ferdinand held at the edge of the pool, too, and floated. "If you slowly let go like this and not make any sudden movements, you’ll be able to keep your balance. Oh, and you should spread your arms and legs like this..."

Ferdinand showed her how to do it.

"Why don’t you try again? I’ll stand beside you and lift you if you lose your balance, Ferdinand assured her. "Or should I carry you and help you float, then slowly let go?"

Arabella thought about it and preferred having Ferdinand ready to lift her if she failed rather than him letting go of her as she floated.

"I’ll hold onto the edge of the pool, and you stand by to carry me. If you carry me, I’ll feel the instant you let go, and I’m sure I’ll panic again," Arabella replied.

She feared she might get trust issues if they went with the second setup, so she preferred the first.

"Alright. Take a deep breath and relax. You know I will never let you drown," Ferdinand assured.

Now that she thought about it, he was right.

A worrywart like Ferdinand would not leave her to fend for herself when he knew she didn’t know how to swim.

And she could stand on this water anyway. She would not drown.

Arabella took a deep breath and copied how Ferdinand did it.

From what she recalled, his arms were widespread, so she did so. He also said to part her legs, so she opened her legs.

"Yes, that’s it. You’re doing well. Just part your legs wider too... Yes, that’s it. And tilt your head back up a bit..." Ferdinand guided her.

Arabella did feel herself float. She could feel the water against her back now, and her toes were not submerged in the water.

"Yes, that’s it! You’re floating now. You just need to relax and let go," Ferdinand said.

Arabella gulped. She was still scared to let go of the edge of the pool, which she was holding onto.

"It’s okay. You’ll be fine as long as you don’t make any sudden movements. Look at the ceiling and focus on it," Ferdinand said.

Arabella took several deep breaths and closed her eyes to relax.
