Rebirth to take revenge -
Chapter 96: Daddy
Chapter 96: Daddy
Hearing this, Claire nodded and said, "He is alive. But, he doesn’t know that I am."
Emma nodded, her eyes flickering with thought, and asked, "What are your plans now?"
Claire looked at Leander tenderly and said, "I just want to protect him silently."
"So, Mom, I’ve come back this time, but can I keep Alex from finding out? After all, he doesn’t remember me now."
Emma pondered for a long time and finally nodded. "Okay, I promise you."
"Thank you."
After Claire and Leander returned home, she began to prepare dinner. Leander sat on the sofa in the living room, tilting his head and swinging his little feet. "Mom, do I have a father?"
Claire paused. Taking a deep breath, she knew she couldn’t hide it anymore. She walked over to the sofa, sat beside Leander, and said, "Yes, Leander’s father is a very capable person. He’s just facing some challenges now and doesn’t remember us."
Leander nodded his head sensibly, his big eyes rolling thoughtfully. "Is he in danger now?"
Claire nodded and replied softly, "Yes, so Leander has to be good, and we must protect Dad from the shadows."
"Leander knows what to do!" He blinked and nodded eagerly.
Claire smiled and rubbed his pink cheeks, chuckling. "Alright, let’s eat. Mom made a lot of things you like."
"Yeah!" Leander obediently grabbed his chopsticks, taking a piece of meat and popping it into his mouth. "Mom’s cooking is the best!"
Claire couldn’t help but laugh at his praise.
After dinner, Leander sat in his room with a laptop on his lap. His delicate little fingers tapped the keyboard quickly. On the screen, he had typed a name: Alex.
After a while, information about Alex appeared on the screen. Leander dragged his face closer and observed carefully. "Wow, he does look like me," he muttered.
"And..." Leander narrowed his eyes at the photo of Alex. "He’s much more handsome than Uncle Nelson."
He nodded solemnly and whispered to himself, "I didn’t know Mom had such good taste this time."
After looking at the pictures for a while, Leander made up his mind. He quickly typed an email.
Meanwhile, in Alex’s study, he was busy with work on his computer when a new email notification appeared. Initially, he didn’t plan to open it, but when he saw the sender’s name, a flicker of surprise crossed his eyes.
"Pianist?" Alex murmured.
It was the name of someone who had recently won a hacking competition. Why would such a person send him an email? Curiosity piqued, he opened it.
On the screen, just a few short words appeared:
"City A’s Famous Café, tomorrow morning at 10 o’clock. Let’s meet."
Alex’s pupils constricted slightly, and an inexplicable feeling stirred within him. Under normal circumstances, he would refuse immediately. But this time, for reasons unknown, he felt compelled to attend. After some hesitation, he agreed.
The next day, before dawn, Leander woke up. Still in his pajamas, he ran barefoot down the stairs. Seeing Claire already dressed and ready, he greeted her. "Good morning, Mom!"
Claire was getting ready for the day and, noticing his bare feet, frowned slightly. "Leander, why aren’t you wearing shoes?"
She sighed and then said, "Mom has to go to work today. Be good while I’m gone. If you need anything, just call me."
"Got it, Mom. Be careful on the way," Leander said with a sweet and obedient smile.
Seeing this, Claire didn’t think too much and turned around to leave. As soon as she left, Leander ran back to his room, changed his clothes, and took advantage of the housekeeper’s inattention to sneak out of the house.
Leander went to the roadside, jumping and waving his little hand to hail a taxi. He opened the door and climbed into the back seat, saying, "Uncle, take me to the café in City A’s famous western suburbs."
The driver looked at the little boy in the back seat with surprise and asked, "Little one, where are your parents?"
Leander took out a red ticket from his bag and handed it over, saying, "Please hurry, Uncle. I’m in a rush."
The driver was stunned for a moment but took the money and didn’t say anything more. He started the car and drove off.
A moment later, the car stopped in front of the café in the City A’s famous western suburbs. Leander reached out his little hand, tilted his head, and said, "Uncle, please give me the change."
The driver’s face froze, and his eyes darted around. However, before he could think of anything, he saw Leander pick up his phone and say, "I’ve sent the car information to my mom."
The driver cursed inwardly and reluctantly gave the change back to Leander. Leander took the money and carefully put it into his small backpack. This money was his prize from a competition, and although it wasn’t a small amount, he still had to be careful with how he spent it. After all, this was his secret stash.
Carrying a small bag, Leander pushed open the door of the coffee shop. He looked around and finally stopped at a tall figure. Leander walked up to Alex and peered at his face.
After confirming that he was the person he was looking for, Leander sat down in the chair opposite Alex.
The black-clad bodyguard next to Alex wanted to stop him, but when he saw Leander’s face, his outstretched hand froze in place.
At this moment, Alex was looking down at a magazine. When he saw someone sitting opposite him, he instinctively frowned. He looked up and saw a face that was very similar to his own, except it was a child...
Surprisingly, Alex forgot the purpose of his visit and smiled, saying, "What would you like to drink?"
Leander was taken aback and stared at Alex’s eyes for a long time. When he realized the unfamiliarity in Alex’s eyes, he sighed silently and said, "Mom only lets me drink plain water."
Upon hearing this, Alex’s expression became complicated. He looked at the boy in front of him and couldn’t help but reach out to touch his head.
However, as his fingertips touched his forehead, Alex suddenly withdrew his hand! Realizing his own loss of composure, Alex cleared his throat and said, "Waiter, two glasses of plain water."
Leander tilted his head, looking like a little adult, and nodded in agreement.
"You look more handsome than in the photos on the website," the boy said.
Alex was amused. He looked at the boy in front of him and, somehow, felt an impulse to hug him. Suppressing his thoughts, he asked softly, "What’s your name?"
"I’m Leander," the boy blinked innocently and looked at Alex. "Can I call you Daddy?"
At this, Alex froze, as if struck by lightning, and stared at the boy with widened eyes. Seeing his reaction, Leander thought Alex was unhappy and quickly explained, "I didn’t mean anything else. I just want a daddy."
Hearing this, Alex’s heart melted. He pursed his lips, gently smiled, and touched Leander’s head, saying, "Sure, if you like it."
Hearing this, a hint of bitterness rose in Alex’s heart, but he quickly suppressed it. He composed himself and asked, "Is there anything you want to eat?"
Leander’s gaze fell on the menu beside him, and he tilted his head, thinking.
Behind him, the black-clad bodyguard lowered his head and whispered in Alex’s ear, "Mr. Miller, don’t forget about the meeting with Secretary Louis."
Upon hearing this, Alex finally remembered the purpose of his trip. He looked at his watch and saw that it was already past ten o’clock. A hint of displeasure flashed in his eyes as he said, "Let’s not wait for him."
Then, Alex looked at Leander and said, "You..."
"Just call me Leander," Leander interrupted, with a small face, looking expectantly at Alex.
Alex chuckled and said, " Leander, have you eaten? Do you want to grab something to eat together?"
Leander blushed a little and really wanted to agree, but he looked at the time and shook his head, saying, "I can’t. I have to hurry back, or else I’ll be found out."
With that, Leander got off his chair and handed a handwritten note to Alex, saying, "This is my business card. If you encounter any trouble, just call me. Don’t worry about my size; I can definitely help."
At this, both Alex and his bodyguard behind him were stunned. For some reason, when he heard Leander’s words, Alex’s heart was excited, not surprised.
"Okay," Leander grinned, "Thank you, Daddy."
Leander patted his chest and looked very serious, which made people want to laugh.
Alex smiled and nodded in agreement.
Seeing this, Leander nodded in satisfaction and left the coffee shop with his bag. After he left, Alex looked at the so-called business card in his hand. On the card were two lines of crooked handwriting, obviously written by Leander himself. But when Alex saw the content clearly, his pupils suddenly contracted.
"Code name: Pianist."
