Rebirth to take revenge
Chapter 85: I will kill Alex

Chapter 85: I will kill Alex

Claire’s heart sank, and she had no choice but to follow the man in front of her. She took a deep breath and said in a deep voice, "Mr. Miller is dead. What do you want with a corpse? Also, your face is actually..."

"Enough!" Cole shouted coldly, interrupting Claire’s words. "I know you’re a doctor, and your medical skills aren’t bad. However, don’t say anything to me. If my face could be cured, I wouldn’t believe it!"

Claire pursed her lips, shook her head, and said, "How will you know if you don’t try?"

"Shut up!" Cole yelled at her again, then gritted his teeth viciously and said, "Let me tell you, I hate when people talk about their faces, and I hate it even more when they mention their appearance!"

After finishing, he reached into the purse on his back, took out a photo, and threw it on Claire’s lap. When Claire saw the contents of the photo clearly, her pupils suddenly shrank a few times.

"This... this..." In the photo, there was a middle-aged man with a face similar to Alex’s.

Seeing Claire’s shocked expression, Cole hooked the corners of his lips in satisfaction and said, "Well, do you see it? That’s right, this man is Alex’s father. And the person next to him is me!"

Claire’s mind went blank, her heart was shocked, and she couldn’t say a word for a long time. In the photo, the man standing next to the middle-aged man looked exactly like Alex. But if you looked closely, there were still some differences in demeanor.

"How... you..." Claire turned her head to look at Cole beside her and said wordlessly, "Why did you look so similar to Alex before?"

Cole sneered a few times, with killing intent in his eyes, and said, "Heh, that’s why I was always brought by his father’s side, pretending to be Alex. I originally thought that it would be a piece of cake for me to replace Alex as the young master of a rich family, but now that I think about it, it’s really a nightmare!"

Claire was puzzled and said, "Why do you say that?"

"Why?" Cole laughed strangely, his eyes reflecting a dark recollection, and said, "How do you think Alex became a military commander in the capital?"

"The position was set up by his father. At that time, he took me to various military bases every day."

"The reason was to prepare Alex to inherit the command after everything was established!"

"And my face..." Cole pulled off the hood on his head, pointed to the scar on his face, and said, "The way I look now is thanks to Alex’s father. He was afraid of what I might do with this face and took away his son’s power, so I ended up like this!"

After finishing, Cole suddenly lifted his foot and slammed on the accelerator, speeding forward. His eyes burst with intense resentment as he gritted his teeth and said, "On the day I kill Alex, I will make him feel the same disfigurement!"

Claire stared at the rapidly passing scenery, lost in thought. After a long time, she suddenly sighed and said faintly, "You are pitiful."

Hearing the words, Cole’s face twisted into a ferocious expression. "Who dares to say that I am pitiful? Who deserves it?!"

He gripped the steering wheel tightly, his eyes cold and piercing. "My face is a gift from Alex! His life is a gift from me!"

Claire was slightly stunned, then nodded and said in a calm voice, "I understand. You took me away because you wanted to threaten Alex and avenge your past."

Cole was startled, glancing at Claire’s calm face from the corner of his eye, feeling a strange unease.

Claire opened her eyes, looked at Cole calmly, and said, "Alex and I are just acting according to circumstances. And I’m just a country girl. What is Alex’s status? How could I possibly be worthy of him?"

Hearing this, Cole’s eyes flickered, and the image of Anna suddenly appeared in his mind. Could it be that the woman in front of him had some ulterior motive to get close to Alex? Is that why Anna wanted to get Alex by any means?

Thinking of this, the way he looked at Claire suddenly became suspicious. Claire didn’t notice any change in his demeanor. She still leaned back in her seat and said, "The only reason I ended up in City A is that I needed power to take back my mother’s legacy."

"We even signed a contract for one year. If you don’t believe me, there’s a paper contract in the nightstand in my bedroom. You can check it yourself."

Hearing this, Cole’s expression became even weirder, and he asked in astonishment, "One year?"

Claire nodded, tilted her head in thought, and said, "Based on this, the time seems to be almost up."

She then turned to look at Cole with a smirk, as if she were looking at a fool, and said softly, "So, instead of threatening Alex by taking me away, you’re actually doing him a favor."

"After all, it’s almost time, and he’s probably still worried that I won’t leave!"

After hearing these words, Cole was stunned for a moment, as if he’d been struck by lightning, his whole body momentarily paralyzed. He had feared that Mr. Miller’s body might not be enough to lure Alex, so he went to great lengths to kidnap this woman. But after hearing these words, it seemed she was probably useless!

Annoyed, Cole tightened his grip on the steering wheel. Suddenly, his eyes lit up, and he snorted coldly, "You’re playing tricks on me, aren’t you? Do you think I’ll believe you just based on a few words? Stop dreaming!"

"You even said you’re pregnant with his child."

To his surprise, Claire remained calm and replied, "I only said that I was pregnant, but I never mentioned that the baby was his."

"The hell I will! You think I’m your personal chauffeur or something?"

Claire’s expression remained unchanged, but her heart sank. She knew she was in trouble.

"I’m just trying to help," she said, shrugging her shoulders.

"Save it. You’re not getting off this car until I say so," Cole replied, his mouth twitching with disgust.

They drove in silence for a while until they reached a mountain. Cole parked the car and got out, pulling Claire out with him.

"Move!" he barked, shoving her forward. Claire stumbled, fear flickering in her eyes. She followed Cole as he led her to a few shabby wooden houses at the foot of the mountain.

"Don’t even think about running away," Cole warned her, pushing her again. "No one will hear you scream out here."

Claire took a deep breath and tried to stay calm. "My legs are numb from being tied up for so long," she lied. "Can you carry me?"

Cole burst out laughing. "You’ve got to be kidding me. You think I’m your personal porter now?"

He sneered at her, enjoying her fear. "You’re not as smart as you think you are, little girl."

"Do you really think I’m that stupid?"

"Do you think I’m a three-year-old kid? I know your little tricks."

"Before this, I already threw away your needle!"

"Your tricks may work on others, but not on me!"

Claire remained calm and said, "Okay, if you insist on letting me go up by myself, then go ahead. But I’m not feeling well right now. If I have a miscarriage, your chances of winning will be even smaller."

Cole sneered and teased with his head tilted, "You just said that the child in your belly is not Alex’s, so isn’t it better if you have a miscarriage?"

Claire smiled mysteriously and teased Cole with his own expression, "Of course, I wouldn’t be so stupid as to tell him. If he knew, would I still be able to stay in the Miller family and be kidnapped by you here? Don’t you just want to use me to lure Alex here? If that’s the case, then I have to climb this mountain, right?"

Although she was dressed very plainly, her overall temperament was not to be underestimated, especially her eyes, which seemed to be able to see through Cole’s intentions.

Through people’s hearts, making Cole inexplicably feel a little scared.

After hesitating for two seconds, Cole finally compromised. He crouched down and said, "Since you want me to carry you, then come up."

Cole carried Claire and climbed up the rugged mountain road, while being vigilant and looking around.

After about half an hour, the two finally reached the mountaintop. However, Claire’s face grew even paler, with fine beads of sweat on her forehead, and her body becoming increasingly light and floaty.

Seeing this, Cole grinned wickedly and deliberately lowered his voice, threatening Claire, "You better stay conscious. If you fall and die later, don’t blame me for not taking care of you!"

At this moment, it had been three hours since Claire disappeared. After a brief panic, Alex quickly regained his composure and dispatched a large number of people to search for her.

Three whole hours had passed, but there was still no clue.

Alex anxiously sat on the sofa, his brow furrowed with worry, and the image of Claire just before she disappeared flashed through his mind. The person who abducted her had an unusual body technique.

Alex had been a military commander for so many years and had seen countless combat techniques. But that one was not one he was familiar with.

He couldn’t even judge the other person’s identity, appearance, or age, which made him very wary.

"Ring, ring—"

Suddenly, the phone on the coffee table rang.

Alex picked it up and saw that...
