Rebirth to take revenge -
Chapter 101: Birthday
Chapter 101: Birthday
"Alex, where are you going?" Emma blocked his way and pushed him back inside the door.
"Today is your birthday, and Mom has invited many important people. They will be here soon, so you can’t leave."
Alex felt helpless, but he let her push him inside the room.
"I’ll attend the birthday banquet, but I have a request," Alex said.
"Today is your birthday, and Mom will agree to anything you want," Emma replied with a smile.
Emma blocked Alex’s way and pushed him back inside the door.
"Today is your birthday, and Mom has invited many important people. They will be here soon, so you can’t leave."
Alex felt helpless, but he let Emma push him inside the room.
"I’ll attend the birthday banquet, but I have a request," Alex said.
At the Western Medical Clinic, in the dispensary, today was just another boring day. Claire rested her chin on her hand and tapped her fingers on the table.
Two nurses beside her whispered to each other, "Did you hear? Today, General Manager Alex urgently notified all the staff at the Western Medical Clinic to attend his birthday banquet!"
"Do you think we should prepare some gifts?"
"This happened so suddenly, I didn’t have time. Besides, General Manager Alex is such an important figure. How could he accept gifts from us small employees?"
"He probably just wants to reward us for our hard work this month. After all, the Western Medical Clinic’s performance has exceeded that of the City Central Hospital."
Claire listened intently, and her heart tightened. She stood up and walked over to the two nurses, interrupting them, "Excuse me, can I ask you something?"
"Does everyone have to go to Mr. Alex’s birthday banquet?" Claire’s tone was flat as she walked out of the dispensary.
She took out her phone and checked the date. It was indeed Alex’s birthday today, but what was the purpose of inviting all the employees of the Western Medical Clinic to the banquet?
If nothing unexpected happened, the Smith family would definitely attend the banquet. And she would meet those people.
Anna just remembered, "I have something to do today, so maybe..."
"I advise you to cancel your plans. You have to attend the banquet if you want to continue working at the West Suburb Clinic," interrupted a nurse. "Even if it’s just as a janitor, you have to go!"
Claire’s face changed slightly. What did Alex mean by this? She squeezed her hand and turned to walk in the other direction.
"Where are you going?" asked two nurses.
"To the restroom," Claire’s tone was flat as she walked out of the dispensary.
She took out her phone and checked the date. It was indeed Alex’s birthday today, but what was the purpose of inviting all the employees of the West Suburb Clinic to the banquet?
If nothing unexpected happened, the Smith family would definitely attend the banquet. And she would meet those people.
Claire felt a wave of annoyance in her heart. She didn’t want to meet the Smith family at this time.
Suddenly, Claire’s eyes paused on a number on her phone. After thinking for a moment, she composed a message:
"Mr. Alex, I am Claire, an employee of the dispensary. I have something urgent to attend to tonight and cannot attend the banquet. Can I please have your permission to take leave?"
After pressing the send button, Claire nervously held her phone. This was Alex’s previous contact information. She didn’t know if he was still using it now.
Claire nervously stared at her phone screen. After a while, she received a text message.
Claire felt a wave of annoyance in her heart. She didn’t want to meet the Smith family at this time. At nine, Alex’s reply was simple, with only one sentence. But with just this one sentence, Claire felt the pressure double.
Compared to appearing in front of the Smith family, Claire could only choose to agree to Alex’s conditions. She pressed her phone and agreed to Alex’s request.
That night, at Alex’s house, the vast villa estate was filled with employees from the Western Medical Clinic.
The rich kids who came to celebrate Alex’s birthday were also mixed in.
Anna stood aside with an unhappy face, looking at the low-level employees from the clinic, feeling annoyed.
She didn’t expect Alex to invite all the employees of the Western Medical Clinic to his house. With so many people, she didn’t even have a chance to be alone with Alex!
Deep down, Anna had a premonition that Alex’s decision to do this might be because of Claire! Thinking of this, Anna couldn’t help but feel a little impatient. Alex was so concerned after only meeting her once. If this went on for a long time, it would be difficult for him not to fall in love with Claire! She would not allow such a thing to happen.
Thinking of this, Anna took a deep breath, tidied her hair, and walked towards Alex.
At this moment, Alex’s gaze swept over everyone present, trying to find the woman he met at the pharmacy that day, but he couldn’t find Claire anywhere. However, this result did not make him impatient, but rather a little pleased.
He took out his phone and looked at the unfamiliar number on the screen, his lips curling up slightly.
"Claire?" he whispered. Although he didn’t know how she got his contact information, this way, he not only knew her name but also had her phone number.
Thinking about tomorrow’s meeting, he felt a little excited. He wished that today’s birthday banquet could end quickly.
Lost in thought, Anna walked up behind Alex. Taking advantage of Alex’s inattention, she hugged his waist.
"Alex, why are you here alone?" Anna said coquettishly, her eyes still glancing toward the corner.
In the corner, a reporter from the Smith family was standing there. After receiving Anna’s signal, he raised his camera toward the two of them and quickly pressed the shutter.
Alex regained his senses and pushed Anna away, saying, "If you’re full, go home. If you have something to say, we’ll talk another day."
"You’re driving me away again!" Anna stomped her foot and coquettishly said, "Alex, when will our engagement become official?"
"We’re not young anymore; it’s time to get married."
As soon as he heard this, Alex felt an inexplicable annoyance in his heart. Without even looking at Anna, he said coldly, "This engagement was arranged by Sebastian and my father back then. Now that they’re both dead, it’s no longer valid. If you’re in a hurry to...?
"Get married, find someone else. We’re not a good match."
After saying that, Alex didn’t care about Anna’s expression and walked away.
Anna watched his back and gritted her teeth. "Hmph! I don’t believe I can’t steal you away!"
With that in mind, Anna immediately chased after him.
"Alex, wait for me."
Without any hesitation, Alex walked straight into the hall.
"Congratulations on your birthday, Young Master Alex!" "Happy birthday!" The guests congratulated Alex one after another.
Alex waved his hand casually and said a few perfunctory words before sitting on the sofa.
The old butler came forward and stood by Alex’s side, about to speak, but Alex raised his hand and said, "Let’s end the banquet here today. I’m tired."
After speaking, he got up and left. Anna watched Alex leave, and a strong sense of malice flashed in her eyes.
The next morning, Claire got up early from bed. She put on light makeup and dressed neatly before walking out of the room slowly.
At the dining table, Leander was already sitting there. He looked at Claire curiously and said, "Mom, you look so beautiful today. Are you going to meet someone?"
Claire was taken aback and instinctively replied, "I’m going to work at the Western Medical Clinic."
Upon hearing this, Leander got off his chair. He stood in front of Claire, looking up at her without blinking, and said, "Mom, you’re blushing. Are you going on a date with Dad today?"
Claire’s face turned red, and she said, "What nonsense are you talking about, kid? Your dad doesn’t remember us anymore. There’s no such thing as a date."
Leander crossed his arms, shook his head, and said, "But I think when Dad sees you for the first time, he’ll fall in love with you again."
"After all, there are very few beautiful and elegant ladies like you, Mom."
"What do you know?" Claire glared at Leander.
Leander stuck out his tongue, reached out his small hand, and handed something over, saying, "Mom, yesterday was Dad’s birthday. This is the gift I gave him. Can you give it to him for me?"
Claire looked at Leander in surprise, squatted down, and took the gift from his hand. A sour feeling rose in her heart, and she hesitated. "Do you really like him?"
Leander nodded without hesitation and said, "Dad is good, even though he doesn’t remember Mom and doesn’t know me."
"But I think, one day, he will remember everything."
"By then, Leander will have a dad"
