Chapter 178: Chapter 178 Nobles-style Adventure Preparation

In other ancient legends of Lavales Port, in the distant past, the northernmost end of the island had no mountains, just a vast and cold rock wasteland.

When people arrived at this island, the noise awakened an ancient Divine being that slept beneath the wasteland.

It opened its eyes, and the earth split open, huge peaks surged from within it, and terrifying flames gushed from the mountains, bringing abundant darkness and fruits.

To this day, that terrifying Divine being still slumbers beneath the ancient mountains. And its evil incarnation wanders forever within the highest peak, within that solitary castle.

On the map provided by the old explorer Baggsen, the deep mountainsides of the island’s north are only depicted with rough terrains.

Only some sparse landmarks are marked, indicating several cave fissures leading to underground gemstone mines, and the specific directions to three unknown ruins.

That ancient rock wall engraved with huge rock reliefs mentioned by Evan, is indeed one of those three unknown ruins.

Anvis and Jom are walking through a sparsely wooded lower forest at the foot of the mountains on a grassy clearing in the woods.

The tall trees thin out, and the air carries the fresh yet piercing scent of sunshine, accompanied by occasional sounds of crisp bird chirps, and the unique aroma of fresh trees wafts from all around.

Alongside a babbling clear stream on one side of this clearing in the woods, ancient ruins are located possibly left from some predecessors on the island.

Constructed with large blocks of gray-white rocks representing civilization, these buildings eventually returned to their original natural state.

The wind through the woods passes through the gaps between the broken rock pillars, stirring the pebbles and wild Wind Bell Grass blooming with tiny white flowers.

The afternoon’s soft golden sunlight pierces through the sparse branches, enveloping the thin dust of the ruins and the clear stream, reflecting a hazy and dreamy hue.

Such small ancient ruins are not marked on the parchment explorer’s maps.

Similarly, there is basically no existence of particularly high-value items inside.

If a Player could find this place, they might find some small relics amidst the chaotic rocks of the ruins, and incidentally add a little meager Experience Value from map exploration.

"Lord Anvis, within a few hundred meters ahead, the strength and activity of the Curse Field have noticeably increased, please prepare accordingly."

At this moment, Jom suddenly spoke, voicing out the detection he made in a grave tone.

Anvis could also see, a few hundred meters ahead, where the mountains and forest seemed to have an invisible boundary line.

Normal vegetation vanished, replaced by barren grey-white rock slopes and some decidedly strange dark low-lying plants.

Just as enveloped in the Mist Sea and the skies above the island, a layer of unwilling-to-dissipate mist also cloaks the mountains of the island, making their massive contours appear blurred and unclear.

"Alright, let’s do it here then."

Anvis nodded slightly, saying somewhat abruptly.

But Jom immediately understood Anvis’s meaning. He nodded and took out a pitch-black circular stone plate from his Space Ring.

The surface of the stone plate is engraved with intricate and dense Mithril Inscriptions that could make one dizzy and dazzled at even a slight glance, resembling the myriad stars in the night sky.

At the center, there’s an apple-sized empty slot, seemingly needing something to be inserted.

Glancing around casually, Jom walked to the corner of the ruins, between several sloping pillars supporting each other. Spiritual power emanated from his body, creating a mini [Liquid Ground] Spell effect.

A small section of the rock and ground in front of him instantly liquified and then solidified back into a firm state, leaving a smooth surface.

Placing the Magic Array Stone Plate on the flat surface, Jom again took out a twelve-sided Demon Crystal and slotted it into the empty slot.

As the Crystal Stone was embedded, the entire Mithril Array faintly glowed.

A faint wave of spatial fluctuation spread out and gradually disappeared.

Portable fixed-point Teleportation Array, produced by Olivendi—

Each use requires a high-purity Demon Crystal, which can support about seven days of running time.

As long as the return Beacon compatible with the Transmission Array Plate is activated, the teleporter can instantly return to the location of the Transmission Array Plate from any point within a 3000-kilometer radius of the plate.

Moreover, due to the presence of an activated Transmission Array Plate, the nature of this teleportation is fixed-point teleportation through the array, able to ignore most spatial blockades.

The safety for the user is much higher than that of the easily disrupted Teleportation Scroll, with the only drawback being the extremely high price, comparable to a piece of Seventh Rank Magic Equipment.

Of course, in a sense, this is not a drawback of the Transmission Array Plate.

After confirming that the Transmission Array Plate was operating normally, Jom waved his hand, controlling a thin layer of rock to cover the array below and used a Spell to conceal the location of the Array Plate.

Having set up the equipment for emergency departure, Anvis replaced the five rings on his left hand with ones specifically for defending against Curses, and then slowly stepped out of the forest and into the mountains.

As soon as they stepped onto the rocky steep slope, a strong Curse Field instantly enveloped the two of them.

Unlike other places on the island, the Curse Field here was very active; even during the day, its density was enough to affect those of the Third Rank.

If the previous state of the Curse Field was like a lazy Slime, then now it was like a Slime in heat, desperately lunging at female Adventurers.

Although it won’t melt clothes, it will melt your sanity.

The rings resisting Curses lit up in turn, a light moon-white protective aura emanated from Anvis, repelling the strong Curse Power surging around them.

Again comparing the map, and the approximate direction of the surrounding mountains, Anvis’s gaze locked on a more gently curved peak deep in the continuous mountain range.

That mountain overall resembled a curled-up cat, with slightly curved at the base, and the slightly sharp ’cat ears’ at the top already reaching into the snow line, covered by a blanket of pristine snow.

Having confirmed their bearings, after a moment, Anvis and his companion arrived at their destination.

Perhaps due to a different angle, he had not been able to see that massive stone-carved cliff face.

As he moved to the other side of the mountain range, Anvis finally saw the legendary cliff, engraved with a giant mysterious rock statue.

The entire cliff was also shrouded in a thin layer of mist, and amidst its faint visibility, massive rock reliefs nearly as tall as the mountains themselves, revealed their mysterious veils to Anvis.

Just as Evan had described, the creatures atop resembled a mix of faceless humanoids and the inky tentacles of an undersea black lily.
