Chapter 751: Chapter 749: True Face 10_1
Xu Zeming couldn’t help but frown and instinctively looked up at the class Muxia was in, then the thought of going to check on her arose.
"Excuse me, ladies, could you please make way? I’m stepping out for a bit. Thank you for bringing water and towels, but I won’t be needing them for now."
As he made his way through the crowd, he gently soothed the clamoring girls around him, looking like a walking air conditioning unit.
"Senior, where are you going?"
"Senior Xu, you haven’t had any water yet!"
"Wipe off the sweat before you go!"
The girls stared longingly at his retreating figure.
After Xu Zeming offered a few more words of comfort, the girls finally gave up.
He strode up the stairs of the building where Muxia was.
Being the most sought-after guy in school, his mere walking attracted a bunch of girls’ attention.
"It’s Senior Xu, yeah!"
"So handsome!"
"Wow! He’s heading towards our class!"
"He’s really coming to our class!"
In the midst of the chatter, Xu Zeming had already reached the doorway of Class One.
Seeing the girl in the classroom, quiet like a rabbit, he couldn’t help but lift his chin slightly, ignoring the surreptitious glances of others, his gaze tightly locked on the girl: "Muxia."
He spoke, his voice gentle, as if basking in the spring breeze.
It was like a lover’s whisper.
Hearing him call her name, Muxia’s hand stiffened with the pen.
She had already heard from the whispers of her classmates that he had come to her class.
But she didn’t think he was there to find her. Even if she knew, she wouldn’t pay him any attention.
Having said she didn’t like him anymore, she meant it.
She didn’t even want to be friends!
Her chest was small! She wasn’t worthy! She was well aware of it!
Muxia, acting as if she hadn’t heard him, gathered her thoughts and continued to write down answers.
"Muxia!" Xu Zeming thought she hadn’t heard him, so he called out again, his voice clearly louder than before.
Now, anybody who wasn’t deaf could probably hear.
Muxia clenched the pen in her hand. Was this guy never going to stop?
Couldn’t he see that she didn’t want to deal with him?
Her desk mate poked her: "Everyone is looking at you. Why don’t you go out for a bit? Maybe he really has something important."
"After all, he’s friends with Jiang Qingchen—it might even be something Jiang Qingchen asked him to do."
At that, Muxia could no longer ignore the other person.
Muxia got up in displeasure, her tender face tense, and approached him: "What do you want?"
Smelling the sweat off his body, Muxia couldn’t help but wrinkle her brow and stood a bit further from him.
It was strange; she never used to find his sweat unpleasant, but now, without the rose-colored glasses of a crush, she found it intolerable.
Tsk.
Seeing the two of them talking together, students from her class and others looked on, their gazes not only curious but also suggestive.
This conversation between a boy and a girl was definitely not innocent!
Some even whistled boldly.
If this had been before, Muxia would surely have been scared stiff, fearing someone poking through her thoughts.
But now she felt completely at ease, fearless.
Xu Zeming met her clear gaze, his brows furrowing even more.
Why did she still act this way towards him?
Could it be that her time of the month hadn’t ended yet?
"Did Qingchen ask you to come find me?" Seeing that he remained silent for so long, Muxia’s eyebrows showed signs of impatience.
If it weren’t for the worry that Jiang Qingchen had sent him, she really wouldn’t even want to deal with him.
Xu Zeming shook his head, "It’s not him who asked me to find you..."
"Alright, I got it, you can go now." Since Qingchen didn’t send him, she had no need to continue talking with him.
"Wait!" Seeing her turn to leave, Xu Zeming subconsciously grabbed her hand, his expression hurt, "Don’t you want to know why I’m looking for you?"
Why did she have to care so much about that guy, Jiang Qingchen!
For some reason, he felt very uncomfortable at the bottom of his heart!
"Not particularly curious, I have to study, we have weekly tests coming up!" Muxia declined.
Seeing her cold face, he couldn’t help but feel awkward.
"Then... you go ahead and study." Xu Zeming watched her back with an awkward expression, and turned to leave in embarrassment.
Forget it, forget it. It’s better to wait for those days to be over before saying anything.
Xu Zeming assumed she would become enthusiastic about him again after a few days.
But as it turned out... she didn’t.
Instead, it was he who couldn’t stop thinking about her.
Why had she suddenly stopped idolizing him?
Why wasn’t she looking at him with that attentive gaze anymore?
Xu Zeming couldn’t stand being ignored like this, so the next day at school he went straight to Muxia.
"Are you done with that time of the month?" he asked, blunt as could be.
Muxia was stunned for two seconds, her face turning both red and annoyed, she retorted, "... Are you crazy?"
Out of nowhere, he had asked about her period.
Xu Zeming stood awkwardly in front of her, "So it’s not that time for you. Then why have you been so cold to me these days?"
He really wanted to know the reason.
Muxia shook her head, naturally she couldn’t tell him that she had once had a crush on him, "No reason, I just need to study hard, I’m going to focus on my studies now."
Having said that, she was about to leave.
Xu Zeming took a couple of steps after her, blocking her path, and confessed with eyes lowered, "Muxia, I find myself thinking of you often."
"What do you mean?" Muxia frowned, looking puzzled at him.
Xu Zeming spoke up, "I think I’ve probably fallen for you."
Probably?
That means he’s not even sure himself.
To say something like that when you’re not even sure of your own feelings is simply irresponsible to both oneself and others.
Muxia let out a sigh, very aware of his emotions, and she told him seriously, "You’re right, you do like me, but what you like isn’t me as a person, but the way I used to look at you. In fact, you like anyone who pays attention to you, because it gives you a huge sense of satisfaction."
"Otherwise, you would feel uncomfortable. So this is the real reason why you so often think of me. I strongly suggest you see a psychiatrist," Muxia advised.
As the saying goes, love is blind, but bystanders see it clear, and Muxia, as an outsider, could see it very clearly.
Do you know why you insist on being friends with Jiang Qingchen?
It’s because Jiang Zeming doesn’t worship you like the other students do, doesn’t envy you, and doesn’t really want to be your friend.
So, you can’t help but want to be friends with Jiang Qingchen.
Now, it’s the same.
You just want her to continue looking at you with adoration, you just mistake it for liking.
"Is that so?" On the spot, Xu Zeming muttered to himself.
In the evening after school, Muxia told Jiang Qingchen about what happened that day.
"... Your classmate, he’s really something. He obviously just likes the attention from other people, but insists on saying he likes me!" Muxia dangled her legs, complaining wordlessly.
Jiang Qingchen’s brows furrowed.
This guy, daring to confess to the person he liked!
He’ll have his comeuppance!
