Chapter 632: Chapter 630 Recognition 2_1

Xia, it’s what Mrs. Xia Ning would call her husband Xia Aiguo.

Mrs. Xia Ning once told Xia Ningxing that she liked calling her dad by this nickname the most because she found it too mushy to call him "husband" and always struggled to say it out loud, so she stuck with calling him "Xia."

But now, she was calling Mad Uncle by that name.

What was going on?

Wait a minute!

Xia Ningxing suddenly remembered something.

When she was in school, her textbook recorded that Star Shine’s great Father of Chemistry, Xia Aiguo, was born in 19xx, which would make him exactly fifty-three years old that year. Judging by Mad Uncle’s skeletal growth, he was about the same age.

But age alone didn’t prove everything if she wanted to confirm whether Mad Uncle was really Xia Aiguo. The most accurate method would be to verify the DNA.

So now there were three options, either find Mad Uncle’s family and have a DNA test, wait for Mad Uncle to recover his memory, or pry the truth out of the man behind the mask.

However, plans never changed as quickly as this...

Mad Uncle, hearing this long-absent but familiar nickname, suddenly froze.

He locked eyes with Mrs. Xia Ning.

It was as though he was looking at her, yet also looking through her at someone else.

After a while, the woman in front of him finally merged with the bright and cheery girl in his heart.

"Yunyun! You’re Yunyun!" Mad Uncle’s mind, like a child who had an epiphany, was suddenly flooded with memories, rushing at him like a tide.

Yunyun was Mrs. Xia Ning’s intimate name.

Okay, now it was certain that he was Xia Aiguo himself; there was no need for verification anymore.

Xia Aiguo, throwing aside the scissors in his hand, almost sprinted over to Mrs. Xia Ning and excitedly embraced her, "Yunyun, how have you aged so much and become so serious? You used to be so cheerful and adorable with your laughter..."

"No, that’s not right. It’s been thirty years; how could you still be in your twenties? Look at my stupid head!"

He rambled on and on.

Xia Ningxing was stuffed with an overload of dog food.

"Yunyun, I’m sorry, I’m sorry I didn’t recognize you at first sight; I don’t love you enough, I am a scumbag!" As he spoke, he started to slap his own face.

Xia Ningxing watched, dumbfounded.

Shocking! Star Shine’s great Father of Chemistry did such a thing just to keep his wife from getting angry...

Such an instinct for self-preservation!

A perfect score!

Xia Ningxing silently gave a thumbs-up to Mad Uncle, ahem, to her Scum Daddy.

"It’s okay, really, it’s okay. After all, so many years have gone by, and your brain isn’t working well right now," Mrs. Xia Ning was too happy to blame him, quickly grabbing his hand to stop his self-harm.

Perhaps the power of love was too great, because after that, Xia Aiguo’s memory largely recovered. At the very least, he remembered his own name, home address, birth date, and who his parents were.

He also remembered how the accident had happened.

"Back in the day," Xia Aiguo sighed, "it’s true that the plane I was on had an accident, but before that, I had already been kidnapped by the man in the mask, and after that, they wrecked the plane to make it look like everyone on board died."

"They took me to that base and forced me to do some conscienceless experiments. I couldn’t take it anymore and tried to kill the man in the mask, but unfortunately, I failed, and then he locked me up in the Venomous Insects Den and ruined my appearance. To survive, I had to pretend to be insane and act foolishly. In secret, I dug a tunnel, and thanks to you, my student, I might not have had the chance to see the light of day again..."

Although he didn’t go into great detail, his few words were enough to make Mrs. Xia Ning’s heart wrench as though pierced by a thousand arrows, aching terribly.

"Xia... you’ve suffered so much..." Mrs. Xia Ning’s face was streaked with tears as she lifted a hand, shaking, to touch his grotesquely scarred face.

The marks on his body were enough to speak of the suffering he had endured over the years.

"As long as I can see you again, it was all worth it," Xia Aiguo hugged her again, his brown eyes devoid of hate or resentment, filled only with immense relief.

Whatever had happened in the past couldn’t be changed; it was better to let it go and start a new life.

Mrs. Xia Ning was somewhat amused and exasperated by his positive attitude. What a fool!

After they had embraced for a while, Mrs. Xia Ning suddenly remembered something: "Right, Xia, we found our daughter!"

Mrs. Xia Ning said excitedly as she pushed him away.

Hearing this, Xia Aiguo was stunned for a moment and asked reflexively, "Our daughter?"

When had this happened?

Why didn’t he have any memory of it?

Could it be...

"I forgot again?" Xia Aiguo immediately tried to recall, straining to search his mind for his daughter, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t remember a thing.

Alas!

He was not only a scumbag but a Scum Daddy too!

He could even forget his own child!

And so utterly and completely!

Mrs. Xia Ning quickly added, "Xia, don’t try to remember. I found out I was a month pregnant just a few days after your accident, so you didn’t know."

Xia Aiguo paused, then, unable to contain his frustration, smacked his forehead, "Damn it! If it weren’t for that masked man, I wouldn’t have missed ever seeing my own daughter!"

"Yunyun, my Yunyun, you must have had a hard time when you were pregnant," Xia Aiguo said, eyes filled with tenderness.

He and Mrs. Xia Ning loved each other, and thus he understood how to be considerate.

"It wasn’t hard because it was the fruit of our love." How could it have been hard?

A gentle smile spread across Mrs. Xia Ning’s face, warm and soothing like a breeze through the old city.

"So where is our daughter now?" Xia Aiguo asked with eagerness and excitement.

If he was not mistaken, his daughter should now be in her thirties, presumably married already—perhaps even with grandchildren or granddaughters.

At the thought, Xia Aiguo couldn’t wait to hold his child and shower her with love.

Mrs. Xia Ning instinctively glanced at Xia Ningxing, sighed, and then began to recount the story slowly to him.

After listening, Xia Aiguo was both shocked and heartbroken.

The shock naturally came from finding out that something as scientifically impossible as time travel existed in this world.

Heartbreak for the sufferings his young daughter had to endure!

"Girl, I had no idea our father-daughter bond was so strong..." Xia Aiguo’s raspy voice choked up as he hugged her, patting her back.

"Yes, our fate really is strong!" Mrs. Xia Ning hugged him back, her face smiling.

At that moment, she felt almost grateful to Ning Jian; it was because of his meddling that she had mistakenly saved her own biological father. Otherwise, with Xia Aiguo’s health at the time, he likely wouldn’t have lasted another month.
