Chapter 575: Chapter 573 Realization_1

After all, who doesn’t like a medical solution that can cure quickly, and usually, Western medicine involves IV fluids or capsule pills, which means patients suffer less; on the contrary, traditional Chinese medicine can be unbearably bitter.

While Xia Ningxing was lost in thought, the person on the other end of the telephone line asked politely once more, "Miss Xia, will you come? We really hope professionals like you will join us to develop a vaccine quickly and save the public."

Xia Ningxing was certainly willing.

After all, her skills in emergency care and nursing were no match for her expertise in pharmacology. If she were to go to the hospital, she would merely play the role of administering medication and injections. There were many emergency procedures she couldn’t perform—not because she was too inept, but because specialties matter. It’s like asking an orthopedic doctor to treat an eye condition.

Even the world’s best orthopedic surgeon probably couldn’t tackle eye diseases.

But if she were to focus on researching a cure for the virus, that was her strength.

Although she couldn’t guarantee that she would definitely find a cure, she could certainly provide some constructive suggestions to the medical team.

However, researching the cure also carried the risk of infection, since she would be greeting the virus daily. But compared to the hospital, the chances of infection would be much smaller.

Therefore, Xia Ningxing didn’t immediately respond to the other party, "Please wait a moment."

After speaking to the person on the line, Xia Ningxing looked up at Lu Tingli and the elder with questioning eyes.

"I’m not going to the hospital. Can I join the health organization and focus on researching the antidote?" Xia Ningxing asked, seeking approval rather than making a unilateral decision.

They were now a family, and she hoped to have their support.

The elder heaved a long sigh and finally relented, "That is your area of expertise, and Grandfather believes you can be a great help in this flu outbreak. Go if you want, we must put the larger community first, or, sooner or later, every one of us will be infected."

He had come to a thorough understanding.

He couldn’t, just because Xia Ningxing was his family member, forcefully demand her to do something, especially when it was within her means to potentially succeed!

"And Lu? What do you think?" Xia Ningxing asked, her gaze fixed on Lu Tingli.

She also hoped to have his support and understanding.

She might seem noble now, as if making a grand and admirable sacrifice for everyone else’s sake by putting herself at risk, but this was not entirely the case.

She had her own selfish reasons!

As Grandfather had just said, if this disaster isn’t dealt with soon, nobody, including them and Chuanchuan, would escape unscathed.

She would never allow such a thing to happen!

So!

She must go and give it her all!

Lu Tingli’s fingers clenched tightly, his face taut with struggle, but eventually, he nodded in agreement, "Fine, I agree with you, but you must be careful when you’re researching, got it?"

He sighed deeply, his face covered with helplessness and worry.

But then again, if everyone behaved like scared turtles, what hope would there be left for the future?

"I promise!" Xia Ningxing nodded repeatedly.

Because she had to arrive by evening, Xia Ningxing hurried back to her room to pack.

Since she would most likely be living on-site during the research, she needed to take clothes and other personal items with her.

When Xia Ningxing entered the room to pack, she saw the little one sleeping peacefully, her gaze immediately softening.

After gently touching his soft hair, she turned to Lu Tingli and said:

"Lu, take Chuanchuan to the nursery so he won’t get woken up by the noise," Xia Ningxing whispered.

"Okay," Lu Tingli nodded, replying.

But before he could reach out to pick up the little one, the child slowly opened a pair of clear, black and white eyes, gazing sleepily at Xia Ningxing.

"Yah, yah!" He called out twice, the laughter creating two little dimples.

Upon hearing the noise, Xia Ningxing immediately stopped packing and, with moist eyes, held the chubby little one in her arms.

"Chuanchuan!"

Xia Ningxing choked on his name.

The last people she could bear to leave were him and Lu Tingli.

"Yah, yah!" The little one seemed to sense that Mama was going to leave him again, and his little mouth puckered up, crying so loudly it was unbearable, tears falling down like pearls off a string.

No matter how much Lu Tingli glared at him, he didn’t plan to stop crying.

"Don’t cry, don’t cry, Chuanchuan be good," Xia Ningxing quickly soothed him gently, lowering her brow and saying, "Mom is only going away for a few days, and I will be back in just a few days."

"Wu wu!" The little one’s palms clung tightly to her clothes, not wanting to let her go at all.

"Lu, I can’t take this, please take him away, otherwise, I’m really going to regret it," Xia Ningxing said with a choked voice, lifting his small hands one by one from her clothes then dashed outside with her suitcase.

If she stayed at home for one more second, she was sure she wouldn’t want to leave.

Until the car drove away, Xia Ningxing’s ears were still filled with the heartbreaking cries of the little one.

Xia Ningxing finally couldn’t help it anymore and covered her lips to cry out loud.

She wanted to go back, yet she knew she couldn’t.

She had to go there to conduct research work, for everyone as well as the little family!

On the road, Lu Tingli called her: "Ningxing, don’t worry about Chuanchuan, he has been appeased, he’s not crying anymore..."

As Lu Tingli spoke, he brought the phone near Chuanchuan, and Xia Ningxing immediately heard Chuanchuan and the old man’s voices.

The old man was amusing Chuanchuan, who let out happy "giggles," much like a hen that’s about to lay eggs.

Hearing his laughter, Xia Ningxing couldn’t help but start laughing herself, her lips continually curving upwards.

Her heart that had been tight could finally loosen.

Lu Tingli continued, "So you just focus on your research, we’ll take good care of Chuanchuan."

His reassuring tone effectively built an impregnable fortress of determination for Xia Ningxing, dispelling all her worries.

She took a deep breath, slightly choked: "Lu, remember to also take good care of yourself!"

"Don’t worry, I will," Lu Tingli responded.

"You know that yourself!" he added after a pause.

Xia Ningxing nodded firmly: "I will too!"

After hanging up the phone, Xia Ningxing’s mood was clearly much better than before.

Soon, she arrived at the World Health Organization building.

Carrying her bag, Xia Ningxing walked towards the building.

After checking her identity, the guards immediately let her in and called someone to arrange her accommodation.

The person who came was the man who had called her not long ago.

"Miss Xia, hello," the man said politely, extending his hand.

Xia Ningxing shook it briefly: "Hello."

"Please follow me this way, and let’s put down your luggage first," the man said with a smile, making a gesture of invitation.
