Chapter 207: Chapter 207 She’s Done_1

When Mrs. Wang first arrived at the workshop, everyone thought that a widow was an omen of bad luck and avoided her. It was only after I, as the owner, tirelessly persuaded everyone to unite with love and to break away from superstition that they started to get along with her well.

Later, when she said she wanted to follow me to Capital City, I agreed and even promised her a good position.

I believed I had treated her fairly, but look at her!

Xia Ningxing certainly sensed Mrs. Xia’s discomfort and comfortingly patted her hand, her gaze sardonically lingering on Mrs. Wang, "Mrs. Wang, why are you crying? Has something happened? Speak up and let us all help you with some ideas."

Oh no, rather to give them a good laugh.

"No, nothing’s wrong," Mrs. Wang finally realized she had lost her composure and quickly wiped away her tears, pretending as if nothing had happened.

"No worries? Well, if there’s nothing wrong, that’s good..." Xia Ningxing sipped her tea, smiling without pressing further.

After all, there was still a good show to come.

Mrs. Wang thought the incident was over, but unexpectedly, the beggar with whom she had an indescribable encounter found his way to the Xia family and blew the lid off everything.

Upon entering the Xia household, he grabbed Mrs. Wang, who was cleaning the yard, and choked out, "You woman, you ruined my reputation and ran away! Now you better take responsibility and marry me, or else I’ll report you to the authorities for what you did to me!"

Mrs. Xia, Xia Ningxing, and Xia Jiehao were having tea in the yard.

Mrs. Xia, upon seeing the commotion, quickly pretended to scold, "Who are you to barge into someone’s home and grab our maid? Let go of her this instant!"

The beggar, with tears in his eyes, grievously pleaded to Mrs. Xia, "Madam, I’m truly sorry, I didn’t mean to intrude on purpose. It was that woman who entered room 301 at the Guest Hotel in Quat City two days ago and did unspeakable things to me. Now all I want is for her to take responsibility!"

"Quat City’s Guest Hotel? Room 301?" Xia Ningxing feigned surprise upon hearing this, her gaze complicatedly shifting to Mrs. Wang: "Isn’t that the room my father booked but gave to a beggar instead? Mrs. Wang, how did you end up there?"

"I... I didn’t..." Mrs. Wang never expected this dog of a man to track her down to her own home, and she quickly shook her head in denial, panic-ridden sweat coursing down her cheeks as she shrieked desperately, "Bao’er, Lanzi, and Mr. Xia, I don’t know this man at all! He’s talking nonsense, slandering me! Ruining my reputation! Please, someone get rid of him!"

"I’m not slandering you!" said the beggar, as if he had expected her reaction, producing several photos of Mrs. Wang picking a lock from his chest and handing them to Mrs. Xia and Xia Ningxing:

"Madam, you can see I’m not lying. It was this woman who picked the lock to my room, and then she insulted me. If you don’t believe me, we can test for residues. I haven’t bathed, so a trip to the hospital would uncover the evidence!"

With the evidence clear before her, Mrs. Wang turned deathly pale with no color in her face and no possibility of explaining her actions. She couldn’t even attempt to counter-accuse because it was indeed she who had picked the lock first, making it look like she had ulterior motives.

So naturally, no one would believe her, least of all the authorities!

Mrs. Wang clasped the broom in her hands till her knuckles turned white, her lips quivering yet unable to utter a single word.

She knew she was finished!

She was utterly ruined!

Not only had her objective been exposed, leaving her no way to stay in this golden nest, but she was also faced with the risk of having to marry this ugly man or go to prison.
