Chapter 160: Chapter 160 Art Festival 2_1
Watching her classmates shower her with compliments, Xia Jiaojiao couldn’t hide the smug satisfaction in her heart.
Then she turned her gaze to Xia Ningxing’s retreating figure. Seeing her discussing with Lu Tingli about wanting to participate in the art festival competition, a look of contempt couldn’t help but flash across her eyes.
What kind of talent could a country bumpkin like her bring to the competition?
Laughable.
"So, what do you want to perform?" Lu Tingli couldn’t help but ask.
Xia Ningxing replied, "Sing, of course. Don’t I sing well?"
She had been an all-rounder, skilled in singing, dancing, and even playing musical instruments. Although she was now in a different body, her vocal talent remained as exquisite as ever.
"It sounds good," Lu Tingli sincerely remarked.
"Then do your best," he was about to offer his encouragement.
Xia Jiaojiao, overhearing their conversation, clenched her teeth.
These days, she had been thinking about how to avenge her father and mother, and now she finally had the chance she had been waiting for.
She wanted to make Xia Ningxing make a fool of herself at this art festival!
Although it wouldn’t hurt her physically, it would be satisfying to see her lose face!
Consider it a payment on interest!
She would take her revenge slowly!
After making plans in her mind, Xia Jiaojiao called out the literary and art committee member after class had ended.
It’s worth mentioning that the literary and art committee member of their class was a boy, and he had a crush on Xia Jiaojiao.
In the end, nobody knew exactly what the two of them did or said, but when they returned to the classroom, Xia Jiaojiao’s cheeks were unnaturally flushed. She rubbed them with her hand, and her eyes held a grudge as she stared at Xia Ningxing.
A smirk played continuously on her lips, like a venomous snake.
Xia Ningxing, this is just the beginning!
Prepare yourself for my revenge!
,
One month later, the citywide high school cultural art festival officially began.
On the day, every middle school rented coaches to transport students and teachers to First Middle School.
First Middle School was Collin City’s finest. It was the same school Bald Head teacher had wanted Xia Ningxing to attend.
It covered an area the size of several football fields, with bright and clean teaching buildings, lush parasol trees planted around the campus, and spotless grounds.
The art festival competition was held in the auditorium.
The spacious auditorium was set up with tiered seating. Crystal chandeliers hung above the stage, wine-red curtains draped quietly on both sides, slightly faded, with a banner that read "Citywide High School Art Festival" hanging in the background.
Xia Ningxing and the other students followed their homeroom teacher in an orderly fashion to their assigned seats where they sat down.
As time ticked by, the art festival officially started.
The contestants were queued up backstage, waiting their turn to perform. However, Xia Ningxing and Xia Jiaojiao were scheduled for later, so she didn’t rush. After applying makeup and changing into her performance outfit, she stayed in her seat to watch the performances.
The hosts were two students from First Middle School, a boy and a girl who were currently on stage working up the audience’s energy.
"Dear teachers, dear students, good morning to all. I now declare the art festival officially open!" they shouted with high spirits.
Following the various participants’ performances, the art festival was already halfway through.
At this point, the hosts called out loudly—
"Next, please welcome contestant number 33 from Fragrant Peach Town Experimental Middle School, first-year class one, Xia Ningxing, who will present a guzheng performance. Let’s give her a round of applause!"
"!!!"
For a moment, it seemed as though the world went quiet. All the students from class one looked at Xia Ningxing in unison.
Guzheng performance?
But wasn’t she supposed to sing?
Not only were they confused, Xia Ningxing was stunned as well.
What was going on?
Why was she being called?
To talk about a namesake, but darn it, when would someone have not just the same name but also the same school and class?
Her big brother sat beside her, his forehead sweating in anxiety: "Bao’er, didn’t you sign up for singing? How come it’s changed to guzheng now? When did you change it? I haven’t heard you mention it?"
"Brother, I signed up to sing," Xia Ningxing narrowed her eyes slightly, a trace of puzzlement on her face, but when her gaze flickered over Xia Jiaojiao and saw the other’s triumphant smile, she finally understood.
Apparently, someone had set her up!
Very well!
