Chapter 104: Chapter 104 Preparing to Lift the Beam_1

"Bao’er doesn’t hurt, doesn’t hurt... Mommy isn’t crying anymore." Seeing her about to cry too, Mrs. Xia hastily wiped away her tears and held the little creature in her embrace.

She had to be strong!

She absolutely had to be strong!

To be a strong and good mother, so that her child could live well even without a father!

"Then Mommy should stop being sad, and we’ll continue moving," Xia Ningxing’s voice emerged from her embrace.

Mrs. Xia replied, "Let’s go, let’s keep going."

The Lu Family had already cleared out all four rooms on the ground floor.

However, Xia Ningxing and her family only occupied three rooms.

Mrs. Xia and Xia Ningxing shared one, the eldest brother and the second brother another, and the remaining three brothers the last one.

Another room was designated as a perfume-making studio.

They would share the kitchen and the bathroom for dining and washing.

Once everything had been moved over, Xia Ningxing wiped sweat from her forehead and, panting, ran to Lu Tingli, her eyes shining brightly as she gave him an innocent, harmless smile:

"Lu, from now on, our family will live under the same roof as yours. Please take good care of us!"

"No need to be polite, cough—"

Lu Tingli had just finished speaking when he picked up his cup and took another sip of tea. Somehow he choked, and the goji berry tea ended up being spat out all over the little girl’s head.

"Lu!" Xia Ningxing wiped her face with slight helplessness, picking off the goji berries stuck to it, and looked at him with innocent eyes, "I know you’re excited too, but can you try to contain yourself a little?"

Lu Tingli felt a pain in his liver!

What was this girl’s understanding of the situation? Was that excitement? He had clearly just choked!

"Shut your...cough cough cough...mouth!" Lu Tingli tried to retort, but as soon as he opened his mouth, he realized there was still food in his throat.

"Lu, are you okay? I’ll pat your back for you," Xia Ningxing said, realizing he was choking again and quickly ran over to soothe him.

As she patted his back, she advised him like a little adult, "Next time, drink slower, no one is competing with you."

Being lectured by a girl younger than himself made Lu Tingli feel rather embarrassed.

...

By mid-June, the Xia family moved out from the Lu Family’s place because their three-story house was built and even decorated.

In two more days, they would raise the roof beams and host a housewarming feast.

These two days, Mrs. Xia was busy ordering bread and arranging the feast, inviting friends and family to come over for the housewarming party.

Two days later, the roof beams were officially raised.

Early in the morning, the sound of firecrackers echoed throughout Peach Blossom Village, resounding through the mountains.

Many people came out of their homes to join in on the excitement.

The house that Xia Ningxing’s family built was a three-story building, both large and spacious.

Because a road would eventually pass by their house, leading to a likely demolition, Xia Ningxing had told Mrs. Xia to build as large a house as possible before construction began.

After all, it was all about money!

Now the towering house with its beautifully crafted balcony stood out among a cluster of dilapidated mud huts, looking exceptionally stylish.

The bright glass windows reflected the slightly dazzling light, and the living room was fitted with smooth tiles.

There was a full set of solid wood furniture, and the bedrooms even featured wooden flooring.

The concrete-ground courtyard was clean and tidy, with a vegetable garden specially left on the south side, planted with cucumbers, tomatoes, chili peppers, and other crops.

To the north, climbing roses had been planted, their light pink blossoms falling in a scatter with the breeze—unspeakably beautiful!
