Rebirth: He Decides to Lie Flat
Chapter 430 - 430 425 Thinking A Lot

Chapter 430: Chapter 425 Thinking A Lot Chapter 430: Chapter 425 Thinking A Lot “Still watching? Jiang Yan is coming over in a bit.”

The moment they heard Jiang Yan was coming over, Jin Dapang sprung up from his chair, some good dozen sizes too big like a spring, urgently prompting Tian Xiaohui, “Close it, close it, quick! Actually… It’s nothing special, not worth watching.”

“Not worth watching?” Tian Xiaohui glared and cursed, “Who the hell was the one blushing and getting all excited just a moment ago?”

“Wasn’t it you?”

Tian Xiaohui: …

Fine, you motherfucker don’t want to watch, huh? Next time, I won’t include you in the fun.

Full of resentment, Tian Xiaohui closed the webpage. Coincidentally, no sooner had he shut it down than Jiang Yan walked in.

Dai Lei looked toward Yu Hang, who had come in with Jiang Yan, and couldn’t help but think of what Du Fei had said. Gao Jie was also at the School of Communication… but which major?

He frowned, realizing it had been a long time since he last paid any attention to Gao Jie. In fact, they had been classmates since the first year of junior high all the way until they split into different streams in the second year of high school. They had even been seated one in front of the other for two years. If he were to measure familiarity, he actually knew Gao Jie better than Du Fei.

She was a shy girl, bespectacled, and quite demure.

But Dai Lei never could have imagined that she might like him…

“Dai Lei, is something wrong?”

Before Dai Lei could ponder any longer, Yu Hang turned his head and cast an inquiring look.

Dai Lei snapped back to reality, realizing that during his distraction, he had been staring, naturally drawing Yu Hang’s attention.

After hesitating for a moment, Dai Lei still asked, “Yu Hang, do you… do you know if there’s someone named Gao Jie at your school?”

“Gao Jie? Is it Jie as in clean or Jie as in outstanding?”

Dai Lei was startled, “What do you mean? There are two of them at your school?”

Yu Hang nodded, “In our photography department, there’s a guy named Gao Jie, and he said there’s a girl in the journalism department whose name sounds the same but with Jie as in clean. He mentioned wanting to pursue her but it seems like it didn’t work out, or at least I haven’t heard anything more about it since.”

After saying this, he paused and asked, “Which one are you looking for?”

Dai Lei: “It’s probably the one in your journalism department.”

“Probably? Not sure?”

What was Dai Lei supposed to say?

“It’s not like we’re not acquainted… we were high school classmates. We just haven’t been in contact since graduation, I only just heard that she’s at the School of Communication.”

No sooner had he finished speaking than Tian Xiaohui turned to look over, “You just heard? Didn’t you just take a call from that stamp-collector girl? Is she introducing you to another girl? Tsk, that’s really uncool. If she doesn’t like you, then just let it be. Why is she pushing you towards someone else? What does she take you for?”

Oh, so there was a reason behind inquiring about Gao Jie.

Even Jiang Yan couldn’t help but look over.

Dai Lei, with a dark expression, scolded Tian Xiaohui, “Why the hell are you so nosy?”

It was his own fault too, knowing full well the guy was a blabbermouth and still, he told him his business.

Tian Xiaohui was unapologetic, “There’s no outsider here, are you embarrassed or what? Remember how I was tricked by an online friend and you guys laughed about it for half a year? What did I even say?”

Dai Lei didn’t want to talk anymore. He got up to fetch the ledger for Jiang Yan, then handed over the list of issues he had compiled recently, proceeding to sort the scattered parts into their respective boxes and moved the mainframes that needed repairing onto the rack, sticking notes of issues on them.

“The break’s starting; what are you three planning to do? Is the repair shop going to close for the break or will you guys take turns on duty?”

The ledger Dai Lei had prepared was rather simple, but very clear. Jiang Yan flipped directly to the last page, checked the summary, and then set it aside.

The issue of organization, however, was quite astute.

He thought that maybe he could have Dai Lei spend some time at the electronics factory.

Moreover, Luyang’s internet café had now found its footing, and next month, they could consider opening a branch near Beijing University.

Once that was up and running, he wanted to choose one of the three of them to go and help out with the new place.

“Let’s rotate,” Dai Lei pondered and then said, “I’ll be here for the first twenty days, and for the remaining time, Tian Xiaohui and Dapang, who wants to go first?”

Although Tian Xiaohui and Jin Dapang weren’t quite ready to handle things on their own, Jiang Yan was always there, wasn’t he? They could call him if there were any problems.

What’s more, since the younger brother was coming back to look for a house in August, Jiang Yan would be able to attend to things here as well, so rotating shifts were completely fine for them.

Dapang said he was okay with taking either of the last two time slots, while Tian Xiaohui thought that if he took the middle slot, he’d have to decide whether to go home or stay here when it ended. Going home was too troublesome, but staying here was boring, so he chose the latter twenty days.

“Dapang, your house is closer to mine, and you even have a driver to shuttle you back and forth, unlike me who has to take the train. So, I’m picking the last slot, okay?”

“Why not? I was thinking the same thing; you two just set your schedules first, and I’ll be okay with whatever.”

This really was a good-natured second-generation rich kid without a temper.

After they had settled the rotation schedule and seeing that there wasn’t much to do in the store, Jiang Yan invited the three of them out for barbecue.

All evening, Dai Lei seemed somewhat distracted.

When it was nearly over, he went to the bathroom with Jiang Yan, who asked him, “What’s wrong?”

Since Dai Lei was also feeling vexed, he took the opportunity to tell Jiang Yan everything from beginning to end, concluding with, “I thought about just letting it go, not bothering with them anymore. I mean, I have no feelings for Gao Jie, and once everyone moves on to university, we’ll all have different encounters. There’s no need to disturb her. But when I think about Du Fei’s actions and Gao Jie not knowing anything, I just… how should I put it… I’m afraid…”

“Afraid Gao Jie might get fooled by Du Fei again? You also want her to know the truth?”

Dai Lei scratched his head, “Pretty much.”

“Then why don’t you just call her and tell her?”

As for not having her number, why not ask any of their high school classmates?

Of course, Jiang Yan didn’t think Dai Lei hadn’t considered this. He was simply conflicted, worried that if he talked to Gao Jie, she might bring up the first love letter again and demand an answer from him.

How could this kid be so earnest?

Du Fei had provoked her that much, and you’ve been sending her postage stamps for a year—that really happened. So, how could she be so stubborn to still want an answer from you?

“Lei, don’t overthink it,” Jiang Yan said as he patted Dai Lei’s shoulder. “For all you know, Gao Jie might have moved on from you long ago.”

With that, Jiang Yan shook his head, turned, and walked away first.

Dai Lei was stunned for a moment before belatedly grasping Jiang Yan’s implication, his face turning red in an instant.

Indeed… he was being somewhat presumptuous. He was just an ordinary guy, why would she keep her sincere feelings for him for two years?

Moreover, Gao Jie was talented and outstanding. Yu Hang had said it, hadn’t he? There were already other guys chasing after her at her school.

Still, this call had to be made.

Dai Lei took a deep breath, pulled out his cell phone, and sent a message to a high school classmate. He was quite popular, and it didn’t take long for another classmate to send him Gao Jie’s mobile number.
