Rebirth: He Decides to Lie Flat -
Chapter 411 - 411 406 Dr. Tong
Chapter 411: Chapter 406: Dr. Tong Chapter 411: Chapter 406: Dr. Tong Mu Jiawen turned on the hot water in the bathtub for her mother and left it running before walking out, just in time to hear her mother’s last remark.
She looked at Yu Feng with curiosity and asked, “You got a girlfriend?”
“How could I? Where do I have the spare time for that?” Yu Feng replied to Mu Jiawen without raising his head, his words muffled, then he muttered softly, “What’s so good about getting married? It’s just looking for trouble. Just look at my sister-in-law’s family, a whole bunch of people, so annoying…”
Mu Jiawen, not understanding, turned to look at her mother. Mu Chenyan softly explained the hospital situation and added, “In families with many siblings, it’s inevitable to have more issues…”
Before she finished her sentence, she thought of her own three sons and one daughter. Their relationships seemed fine now, but what would the scene be like once they were all married and had found other halves?
With this thought, she couldn’t help but ramble on, cautioning Yu Feng, “Don’t go around saying you won’t get married. When you meet the right one, you’ll still end up marrying. I’m just reminding you to find a girl with simple thoughts, like Doctor Tong…”
“Oh my god, I really have nothing to do with Doctor Tong, can you please stop bringing her up?”
Yu Feng felt a sense of wanting to cry but no tears to shed. The truth was that there were many female doctors in the hospital setting their sights on him, but he had yet to find one that made his heart flutter.
Doctor Tong had joined their hospital last year. She was part of the obstetrics and gynecology department, which, in theory, had nothing to do with their neurology department, so they didn’t have much contact.
However, one of the students he was mentoring was Doctor Tong’s cousin. Sometimes they would eat together, and the kid would invite his cousin. After a while, they became familiar with each other.
But it was only a slight familiarity, and they could have a bit of a chat, nothing more. That was it, nothing beyond that.
Mu Jiawen didn’t bother listening to his explanations and, full of gossip, asked her mother, “Which Doctor Tong? How old is she? Is she pretty? What’s her figure like?”
“The young lady who helped your sister-in-law with the delivery yesterday, didn’t you see her?”
“Didn’t notice.”
“She’s quite pretty, seems to be about twenty-five or six, much younger than your second brother, who is an old man in his thirties…”
The mother and daughter continued their conversation as they walked towards the bathroom, their words lingering in the living room, leaving Yu Feng dumbfounded!
An old man in his thirties?
Who?
Me?
Isn’t there a mistake, I’m not even twenty-nine yet, how did I become an old man in his thirties?
Even with a nominal age, it can’t add up that much!
But with everyone gone, who was he to argue with?
Yu Feng opened his mouth and bit into a scallion pancake fiercely, chewing as if to vent his frustrations…
In the afternoon when Mu Chenyan woke up, Mu Jiawen accompanied her to the hospital.
By this time, everyone from the Luo Family had left except for Luo Xiao’s parents, so the ward was very quiet.
However, what was odd was that Yu Heng wasn’t putting the little one in the baby crib; instead, he was sitting in a chair, holding him and sleeping.
“He cries the moment I put him down and only wants me to hold him when he sleeps. Do you think this little guy needs a good disciplining?”
Despite what he said, his eyes and brows were smiling, and there was a hint of pride in his tone. He was clearly proud that his little cub only recognized him.
Tired?
Maintaining the same position with both arms, not daring to make any major movements, he was definitely tired. But even so, he couldn’t bear to put him down.
The little thing was too small, a soft little bundle, sobbing breathlessly the moment he was put down, looking so pitiful that it was heart-wrenching.
She was mainly concerned because he had only been fed once today, and his energy and strength were insufficient, so she didn’t want him to cry himself out too much.
Mu Jiawen looked down curiously at the little nephew in her big brother’s arms. It was so magical, having not seen him for just one day, he had changed. The previously wrinkled skin became delicate and smooth, his little red mouth slightly open. Although he was clearly sleeping, his eyes weren’t completely shut, and she could see his little eyeballs rolling around through the cracks.
Mu Jiawen asked in surprise, “Is he actually asleep or not?”
Before Yu Heng could answer, Luo Xiao’s mother laughed and said, “He’s asleep. Many newborns sleep like that, with their eyes not fully closed. It’s called ‘sleeping with the eyes cracked,’ and it’ll get better as time goes on.”
Yu Heng had just asked Doctor Tong about it, and indeed, it wasn’t a big problem.
No sooner had she spoken than the little guy grunted and then slowly opened his big eyes, staring straight at Mu Jiawen, who was looking down at him.
Huh?
At this distance, Mu Jiawen was certain he could see her. Aunt and nephew looked at each other, initiating a stare-down that felt like a big-eye-to-small-eye confrontation.
Yu Heng, finding it amusing, asked her, “Do you want to hold him?”
Mu Jiawen quickly sat down on the chair next to her brother, extended her arms properly as per her brother’s instruction, and carefully cradled her little nephew in her arms.
The expected crying didn’t happen; Yu Ang bubbled milk from his mouth and continued to look at his little auntie with curious, wide eyes.
Luo Xiao’s mother clicked her tongue in amazement, “They’re definitely family. He wouldn’t even let me, his grandmother, hold him, but he’s happy being held by his auntie, the little rascal.”
Mu Jiawen smiled with her eyes crescent-shaped, bending down to give her nephew a kiss on the forehead.
The little guy was too adorable!
It wasn’t until after her nephew had been fed and had fallen asleep that she remembered she wanted to go see that Doctor Tong.
Her second brother might not have noticed it himself, but when her mother mentioned Doctor Tong, the expression on his face was noticeably unnatural. Although he verbally denied it, his behavior towards her was different from that towards other women.
Mu Jiawen was curious; what kind of girl could cause such a change in her second brother?
Of the four siblings, her second brother was the most like her—their eyes were even identical, both pitch black, like a deep, ancient well. Neither of them talked much and both loved to eat….
Leaving the ward, Mu Jiawen strolled to the nurses’ station in the corridor, and just past it lay the doctors’ offices.
As she was pondering how to sneak a peek without anyone noticing, she suddenly overheard two nurses whispering, “Hey, did you see the guy who brought Doctor Tong flowers just now?”
“I saw it. Doctor Tong looked pretty upset, then she went out with that guy, carrying the flowers.”
“They went out? How come I didn’t see them?”
“Are you dense? How could they use the elevator in that situation? They definitely took the stairs.”
“Right, right, Doctor Tong surely didn’t want more people to see. Things would be over if it got to Director Yu’s ears.”
“Nothing’s set in stone yet, don’t spout nonsense.”
“How is that spouting nonsense? In the past few years, which female doctor has Director Yu shared a meal with more than three times? Only Doctor Tong is an exception. Moreover, when Director Yu’s sister-in-law had her baby, look how often Doctor Tong ran to help out; she’s practically like family.”
“That’s true, but still…”
“What’s there to ‘but’ about? Director Yu may be excellent, but so is Doctor Tong, beautiful and capable. What’s so strange about her having several admirers? It’s perfectly normal.”
It seemed this nurse was quite fond of Doctor Tong, even a fan.
Mu Jiawen glanced at the two nurses discreetly and then turned to head towards the stairwell.
