Rebirth: He Decides to Lie Flat -
Chapter 407 - 407 402 She Changed
Chapter 407: Chapter 402 She Changed Chapter 407: Chapter 402 She Changed “Your dad arrived in Jade City?”
At dinner, Mu Jiawen asked Jiang Yan. She had vaguely heard him mention when Jiang Fengwei would come and now realized that several days had passed.
“Yes, he called me this morning, said he’s settled in.”
Mu Jiawen nodded and said nothing more.
The house in Jade City had been redecorated. Originally, it was meant for her and her mother to live in when they didn’t want to stay in the old house. But since the renovation was completed last year, they barely visited a few times, and even when they did, Grandpa Meng would pick them up early to return to the old house.
Grandpa Meng was an elder of the Yu Family and had always been kind to Mu Chenyan. At his advanced age, going to pick her up made it difficult for her to refuse.
So, until now, they hadn’t stayed in that apartment even once.
Since it was empty, they might as well rent it to Jiang Yan’s father.
As for how much the rent should be, Mu Jiawen didn’t ask. She left it up to Jiang Yan; the amount didn’t matter to her.
…
After dinner, Qi Lihong went back to her dorm to grab something.
She walked very quickly because it was Friday and the end of the month. She wanted to settle her accounts today to avoid being too busy over the weekend.
The dorm room door was slightly ajar, indicating that someone had already returned.
Qi Lihong pushed the door open and stopped half a meter from her desk.
She looked at the several food containers carelessly placed on it, droplets of vegetable juice on the surface, and even her neatly arranged books stained with some of the juice. The used disposable chopsticks hadn’t been thrown in the trash bin or placed back in the food containers, but were instead just tossed onto the desk.
In short, her own desk was a complete mess.
Qi Lihong’s face remained calm, without a ripple of emotion. She looked up coldly at the person making a call on the balcony, meeting their gaze as they turned their head back.
Zhang Ting paused, then casually looked away, turning to face outside the balcony.
At that moment, the sound of a toilet flushing came from the bathroom, followed by Weng Minhong walking out. She was startled to see Qi Lihong standing in the middle of the dorm, but quickly regained her composure. She glanced at Qi Lihong’s desk and then sat down at her own.
“Who ate this?” Qi Lihong asked coldly.
Weng Minhong ignored her, pulling out a book to read on her own.
Next to her, the trash bin held a used food container, making it clear that the mess on Qi Lihong’s desk had nothing to do with her.
Qi Lihong walked into the balcony and said to Zhang Ting, “You have one minute to clean up my desk.”
Zhang Ting was still holding her phone, turning her head to look at Qi Lihong as if she were looking at a fool.
“You have half a minute left,” Qi Lihong said, glancing at her wristwatch, then looked up again expressionlessly to remind her.
Unfortunately, Zhang Ting ignored her reminder. She continued leaning on the balcony railing, motionless. She even mouthed two silent words at Qi Lihong: “Idiot.”
Qi Lihong turned back to her desk, picked up two containers filled with leftover food, turned around, and walked over to the bed diagonally opposite. She tossed the containers onto the bed, splattering gravy and rice grains everywhere, sparing neither the blanket, the quilt, nor the pillowcase!
Whether it was the balcony or the dormitory, there was an eerie silence at this moment!
About a minute later, a scream erupted from the balcony while Qi Lihong had already taken Zhang Ting’s face towel to clean her desk.
Zhang Ting, holding her phone, jumped up and rushed in from the balcony, just getting to Qi Lihong’s side and was about to scold her angrily when she saw the person who had been wiping the desk fiercely turn around and fling the towel in her face.
Smack!
The towel hit her face, causing a burst of intense pain. Zhang Ting’s angry roar was stuck in her throat, and she was so shocked that she forgot to dodge, not even feeling the towel falling to the ground after hitting her.
“This is my last warning to you, don’t mess with me again.”
After saying that, Qi Lihong grabbed her things and walked away.
It wasn’t until the dormitory door closed with a “bang” that the two people, as if unfrozen, snapped back to reality.
“Crazy…” Zhang Ting yelled furiously and, in a fit of anger, kicked Qi Lihong’s chair over. But in doing so, her slipper slipped off and her toe struck the leg of the chair, causing her to howl in pain and bend down.
Weng Minhong stood with her mouth agape, unbelieving. She glanced at Zhang Ting, then shifted her gaze and looked towards Zhang Ting’s bed.
Weng Minhong had felt something off about Qi Lihong since the beginning of the semester; although she was still the same person, still solitary, her sense of presence was virtually silent all day. But Weng felt distinctly uneasy, as if she wasn’t the same person anymore.
Indeed…
Seeing Zhang Ting pick up a water cup intending to splash it onto Qi Lihong’s bed, Weng hurriedly stood up to stop her, “Calm down for a minute, can’t you see she’s not the same as before?”
Weng Minhong snatched the water cup from Zhang Ting’s hand. Fuming, Zhang Ting spat, “She has changed, unable to survive without a man. It hasn’t been long, and she’s already mixing with someone else. She’s just naturally shameless, despicable…”
Qi Lihong still sat at the first row on the left side of the classroom, but Liu Wenhui had moved behind her. The two started going in and out together again, clearly having reconciled.
It’s strange, why isn’t that freshman girl from the dance department looking for him anymore?
Is it because they got back together, so she gave up?
What Weng Minhong and the others didn’t know was that Si Tian had not given up; it was just Liu Wenhui who was avoiding her.
She did want to make trouble for Qi Lihong, but she never found the opportunity. Qi was either with Liu Wenhui or at the shop; in short, she was seldom alone. Si Tian tried to find out Qi Lihong’s mobile number, but soon discovered that very few people had it, and those who did were beyond her reach.
Even Liu Wenhui’s mother resorted to calling her dorm, but sadly, eight out of ten times there was no answer.
The remaining two times that Qi Lihong did answer herself, with all the roommates around, Liu Wenhui’s mother had to hold back and hang up the phone.
Finally, unable to bear it any longer, she called Liu Wenhui and asked him to pass the phone to Qi Lihong.
Liu Wenhui was incredibly annoyed. Thankfully, his mother didn’t know about his trip to Jizhou before the New Year; otherwise, she couldn’t imagine what kind of fit she’d throw.
Qi Lihong, however, remained very calm, taking the phone from his hand and saying flatly, “It’s not that I’m not keeping the agreement, it’s that you broke it first. The condition for our breakup was for Si Tian not to trouble me and let me have some peace, but you didn’t do that. So why should I still listen to you? Moreover, your son doesn’t want to break up; he’s been looking for me all along. So now the problem isn’t with me at all, what’s the use of finding me?”
Liu Wenhui’s mother was choked up and speechless, and before she could think of anything to say, Qi Lihong had already hung up the phone, leaving her so angry she almost smashed it.
Of course, Weng Minhong and the others knew nothing of this. They only knew that Qi Lihong had changed, from being weak and timid to being arrogant and cold-hearted, ready to resort to violence at the slightest disagreement. In the dormitory, the three of them no longer dared to provoke her.
