Chapter 360 - 360 355 Lame Excuse
Chapter 360: Chapter 355 Lame Excuse Chapter 360: Chapter 355 Lame Excuse Neither of them were talkative, and after exchanging a few words, Mu Jiawen wanted to leave and go upstairs to find Jiang Yan, to see if he was doing okay.
Just then, Liu Wenhui happened to walk in through the entrance, his hands carrying two boxes of food.
Mu Jiawen turned to look at Qi Lihong, her eyes revealing confusion. Didn’t they say they broke up? Why was he still delivering food for her?
In her mind, wasn’t breaking up supposed to mean no more contact? Could ex-lovers really become friends?
But Qi Lihong just shook her head slightly at her, meaning she hadn’t asked him to deliver the food.
Mu Jiawen glanced at her arm, paused, and suddenly understood where that injury came from.
Her eyes immediately turned cold.
Seeing Mu Jiawen, Liu Wenhui raised a smiling face and was about to greet her when his smile abruptly froze. He turned his head and sneered, thinking to himself, what’s it to you what I do with Qi Lihong?
So meddlesome!
Mu Jiawen gave him a glance and turned to go upstairs.
“You, you don’t have to bring me food anymore,”
Qi Lihong whispered as he set down the food boxes, her head hanging low without looking at him.
“If you aren’t going to eat it, then just throw it away.”
Liu Wenhui stared at her for a few seconds, suddenly angered. He hadn’t even gone home during the National Day holiday but had stayed here to mollify her, to no avail. She was determined to break up, right? Fine!
He looked down at Qi Lihong and said coldly, “I’m not the kind to pester endlessly. As long as you don’t regret it later, fine, then let’s break up.”
After saying that, he turned and left.
Qi Lihong looked down at the food boxes he had placed on the table, her gaze vacant, tears welling up in her eyes, yet she clenched her fists and held them back.
After a while, she took a deep breath, then opened the food boxes and silently began to eat with her chopsticks.
“It seems you don’t really want to break up, otherwise, why would you still eat the food he bought?”
Lin Miao’s voice suddenly emerged from behind her, startling Qi Lihong, who thought Lin Miao had left. Why was she still there?
She turned her head to glance at Lin Miao, but ignored her and continued to eat.
Lin Miao huffed, feeling this person quite boring, like a dull gourd, wondering what Liu Wenhui saw in her.
Just that face?
Lin Miao raised her hand to touch her own, feeling she was not inferior to her. Why hadn’t Jing Junyang been so persistent with her?
Today, Qi Lihong wore a red and white plaid shirt jacket over a simple white tee with a round neckline. As she bowed her head to eat, Lin Miao, standing behind her, could glimpse the subtle curves of her ample chest through the slightly open neckline.
Lin Miao’s expression changed slightly, and she couldn’t help but push her chest out, then she remembered she needed thick padding to achieve that effect, whereas it was obvious that Qi Lihong’s assets were natural.
She bit her lip, seemingly coming to an understanding…
…Classes began on October 8th.
Having already broken up with Liu Wenhui, Qi Lihong knew she couldn’t sit with him anymore and chose a corner spot in the first row on the left side where no one was sitting.
When all the classmates arrived, they glanced at Qi Lihong seated at the front, then turned to look at Liu Wenhui with a dark face at the back of the class, seemingly understanding the situation.
Tian Xiaohui bounded to the back and, with his big mouth, asked, “Brother Hu, did you guys… have a fight?”
“None of your damn business! Fuck off!”
Tian Xiaohui had been living in the same dormitory and he was no longer intimidated by him. He chuckled, eager to prod some more, but Dai Lei was calling him over and had moved with his books to the front row on the left, ending up right next to Qi Lihong.
Seeing that, what else was there for Tian Xiaohui to question? They had definitely broken up.
Now that Qi Lihong was working at Brother Yan’s shop, if Liu Wenhui wasn’t looking out for her, they’d have to.
Some girls in the class really had fucking stinky mouths. It’s not that they were all that bad, but the most annoying thing was their cliquey behavior and tendency to ostracize others.
On one hand, Qi Lihong was a loner with an unsociable character; on the other, Liu Wenhui was just too overbearing. Usually, if the boys crossed him, he’d hit them, and he’d curse at the girls until they cried.
So, some of the girls’ disdain for Qi Lihong was partly earned by Liu Wenhui.
They didn’t dare confront him, and when Qi Lihong was still with him, they only dared to curse her behind her back, not daring to do anything openly. But now that the two had split…
Tian Xiaohui looked around at some of the girls in the class and shook his head in resignation. Being a bully to the weak and a coward to the strong must be natural to many, he guessed.
He quickly grabbed his backpack and headed to the front row on the left.
Zhang Ting and Weng Minhong sat in the second row on the right. Seeing Dai Lei sitting with Qi Lihong, they couldn’t help but whisper scornfully, “Can’t live without hooking up with guys, can she? Shameless!”
Weng Minhong kept her head down, flipping through her book. She didn’t even look up, let alone join in the comment.
Lately, she had been avoiding Qi Lihong because she didn’t want to see her. Just seeing her brought back the memory of the words she’d uttered that day. She didn’t know how Qi Lihong had found out, but she definitely didn’t want her telling a second person.
Yet she knew that simply avoiding her wasn’t a solution, she’d have to find a chance to talk to her.
Before long, Jiang Yan entered the classroom, holding the professor’s laptop. He expertly set it up and connected it before returning to his seat.
During this time, Weng Minhong was still looking down, not raising her head as she used to do.
…
On October 10th, a Saturday morning at six o’clock, Jiang Yan was still in bed when he received a call from Er. Hearing what Er said, his eyes snapped open and he asked, not sure what to make of it, “What did you say you’re doing?”
“Go… going to take Hong Jing back to school. Her ankle got sprained because of me before, right? It’s still not fully healed, and she definitely can’t handle taking the train alone, so I thought… I might as well take her myself.”
Jiang Yan was somewhat speechless. It’s all because of the ankle you sprained, huh? So if you call someone and they happen to be drinking water and then choke to death, are you also responsible? If you want to take her, just say so. What a lame excuse.
Hearing the nervousness in his voice, Jiang Yan didn’t say much more. As he got out of bed, he cautioned, “Be safe on the road. Don’t drive too fast… Never mind, I know you won’t speed anyway. As long as you get there within two days, that should be fine.”
Er: …
The normal driving time from Beijing to North City is about five hours, even less than to Yunzhou. Telling him to take two days would be the speed of a tortoise, wouldn’t it?
After hanging up, one got ready to go to the repair shop after breakfast and the other picked up the simple luggage he had prepared and went downstairs, then drove to Hong Jing’s place.
Hong Jing had already packed her luggage, and the swelling on her ankle had gone down, but she still dared not put much weight on that foot when walking. It would indeed be inconvenient for her to take the train by herself.
Er went up to her third-floor apartment, carrying her suitcase in one hand and supporting her with the other as they walked downstairs.
It wasn’t a long distance from the third floor to the ground level, but by the time they reached the bottom, Er’s forehead was covered in sweat and his back was drenched.
Luckily, they didn’t run into anyone; otherwise, he would have sweated even more.
After helping Hong Jing into the car, Er let out a sigh of relief.
The two had a simple breakfast outside and soon hit the road, taking the highway toward North City.
