Chapter 374: Chapter 360 Sunken Ship

"It’s about time, let’s get ready to go down," Shitou said as he looked at the sky, which actually had little effect on him and Xiaoyun. The light from the surface of the sea couldn’t penetrate the depths of the ocean; they relied entirely on the lights built into their protective suits and the additional lighting they brought with them. However, no matter how unaffected they felt, the people on shore couldn’t help but worry.

"Great, then let’s hurry up," Lu Yun said excitedly while watching Shitou equip himself with various items, even handing her a small metal detector to take along.

This time, before descending into the sea, Shitou took extra precautions, tying a rope connecting the two protective suits to avoid getting separated. After tying the rope, he tugged on it to make sure it was secure.

"Are we really like conjoined twins now? Is this necessary?" Lu Yun communicated with Shitou using her spiritual power.

"Better safe than sorry. The former owner of the spaceship also capsized his submarine in a trench, didn’t he? I worry there might be whirlpools below that could separate us in case of an emergency," Shitou replied.

That made sense, and Lu Yun fell silent.

As usual, the two of them held hands as they made their way into the sea.

They dived down to a depth of four to five thousand meters before reaching the bottom, but they saw no sign of the submarine on the way. This was expected, and they certainly hadn’t anticipated making a discovery upon their immediate arrival.

After looking around, Shitou randomly picked a direction, and the two of them began their search from that central point outward, using their metal detectors.

Hours of exhausting labor yielded nothing. They returned to their space to rest and eat something before coming out again to continue their search...

A day later, they hadn’t found the submarine, but they stumbled upon an ancient-looking shipwreck that seemed to be from olden times. The ship was largely intact, though it showed signs of being nibbled on by fish.

After exploring the vessel, they found that only piles of white bones remained of the crew.

Lu Yun collected the more than two hundred well-preserved wooden crates and two to three hundred whole logs into her space. Then, she and Shitou dug a hole at the bottom of the sea and gathered all the bones to bury them there.

Having done all this, they decided against taking the sunken ship into their space. Back in the space, after removing their protective suits, Lu Yun and Shitou carefully examined their salvaged items.

Upon opening all the crates, a total of two hundred and forty-five, they found eighty crates of gold, ninety of silver, and fifty of various gemstones. The rest of the crates contained rhinoceros horns and ivory. The contents of the remaining crates were either rotten or indiscernible.

"Sinker wood."

Lu Yun didn’t pay much attention to the gold, silver, and jewels, having become somewhat immune to their allure. Instead, she was extremely interested in the logs and pulled Shitou over to examine the wood.

Sinker wood, as the name implies, refers to wood that has been submerged in seawater for countless years. These logs were now as precious as the crates of gold, silver, and gems.

"Even if we were to make all of this wood into bracelets, their value would likely rival that of these treasures," she marveled. The wood’s color had darkened after years submerged in seawater, and it was hard to tell at first glance their original type. However, the fact they had been transported so far suggested they were far from ordinary.

"Wouldn’t it be too wasteful to make all of them into bracelets?" Shitou felt a mix of amusement and disbelief at Lu Yun’s idea.

"I’m just making a comparison. Imagine if we soak some logs directly in the seawater within the space and then take them out after a few decades or a century. That would be a fine way to prosper, wouldn’t it?" Lu Yun wasn’t upset, just cheerily sharing her sudden idea.

"That’s worth considering." Shitou agreed without a second thought upon hearing the idea.

"I’m serious," Lu Yun pouted, feeling that Shitou was being dismissive.

"It’s just some wood; that’s easy. We’ll go together when we have some free time," Shitou quickly reassured her, and only then did Lu Yun seem satisfied. But soon, she grew despondent, "We’ve searched for so long, how come we still haven’t found it? If I had known, we should have just put the spaceship into the space. By now, we could simply release it to pinpoint its location and make the search easier."

"Hindsight is 20/20," Shitou teased as he lightly scratched her nose.

"Hmph, it’s not like you thought of it sooner either. Let’s go, we’ll search a little longer before resting again," Lu Yun grumbled, wrinkling her nose.

They left the space again and searched for several hours but found nothing. Just as they were about to give up and rest in the space for the night before resuming the next day, they suddenly came upon a huge crevice. Exchanging a glance, they immediately swam down through the crevice.

The walls on either side of the crack were made of stone, narrowing and widening as they descended. After diving down another two to three thousand meters, the metal detectors inside their suits began to flicker.

This was promising.

Both of them felt a surge of excitement and swam a little further. They soon saw a small, silver-white submarine with its nose down, wedged tightly between two massive boulders. The door of the submarine was open, but it was stuck so tightly that it could only open a palm-width gap, not nearly enough for anyone inside to escape...

Lu Yun and Shitou pushed against the submarine but couldn’t budge it. Lu Yun then took the submarine into the space and pulled Shitou in with her.

Once the submarine was inside the space, the door swung wide open, and the seawater inside all gushed out. Along with the water, the people inside the submarine also emerged—

With no time to remove their protective suits, Shitou quickly positioned himself in front of Lu Yun and used his spiritual power to say, "Don’t look."

"I’ve already seen it. In this space, I can see everything even if I close my eyes," Lu Yun said, her face pressed against Shitou’s chest feeling cold. She fought against the discomfort and spoke the truth in a soft whisper, "Don’t worry, I am not afraid with you by my side."

"Move them out of the space, and I’ll collect them into my Space Stone," said Shitou, looking at the obviously asphyxiated faces and fearing that Lu Yun would have nightmares after seeing them, hence he insisted.

Seeing Shitou so adamant, and feeling extremely uncomfortable herself, with a sense of nausea building up, Lu Yun eventually relented. She led Shitou out of the space and then released the thirty-one bodies, each clad in an undersea protective suit, into the open.
