Chapter 365: Chapter 353 Yaluo

Poor Tu Qi, who had been silenced by Ba She, was still in a state of shock and confusion, not grasping at all the meaning behind Ba She’s interruption.

It was only when the elders in the central hut of the village heard the commotion and sent an older child, who could speak clearly, to call Tu Qi for questioning, that Tu Qi was still frantically trying to articulate some defense--

Eventually, it was Ba She who called two or three people to push and pull Tu Qi to where the elders were gathered.

"Everyone, quiet down, quiet down. Listen to me, I think those two people probably don’t mean any harm, otherwise, they wouldn’t have let Tu Qi come back so easily."

Ba She, seeing everyone’s emotions on the verge of spiraling out of control, couldn’t help but curse Tu Qi in his heart while he hurried to calm everyone down.

Geyi, up in the watchtower, obviously noticed the chaos below as well, and shouted down from his elevated position, "Those two people have retreated a bit more, they’re not coming closer. It seems like they don’t mean any harm."

Upon hearing this, Ba She looked up and gave Geyi an appreciative glance. Geyi, happy to have been noticed, gave a naive smile, scratched his head, and then shrank back to continue his watch.

The crowd finally began to quiet down gradually.

Seeing his chance, Ba She shouted loudly, "Based on the time, our warriors who went out hunting should be returning today. As long as our warriors are back, we have nothing to fear."

Everyone finally relaxed completely, and the weapons they had been holding defensively were now lowered and no longer held aloft.

But being too relaxed isn’t good either.

Wiping the sweat from his forehead, Ba She continued to call out, "So, we must hold on until our warriors return."

At these words, everyone nodded in agreement, and then they started to discuss amongst themselves where their warriors could be at this moment, and how much time it might take for them to return...

The council hall at the center of the village.

No sooner had Tu Qi begun his description than Yaluo, one of the elders, immediately caught onto the key point and interrupted him, "You mean to say that those two people were wearing the same protective suits as us, and they appeared by the master’s spaceship?"

"Yes."

Tu Qi, now somewhat regaining his composure, blinked and realized that he had neglected such an important issue all this time.

"Bo Ya, it’s them, they’ve appeared again..." Yaluo looked at her spouse with a face that was both shocked and delighted.

"Let’s hear him out first." Bo Ya stopped Yaluo, struggling to stand up with his cane, walked a few difficult steps and kindly said to Tu Qi, "Tu Qi, continue with your story."

The other two attending elders, Sizhi and Dan Le, also looked expectantly at Tu Qi.

Tu Qi immediately felt the pressure and spoke in great detail without omitting anything.

...

"It seems those two people don’t harbor much ill will towards Tu Qi. Maybe they have some connection with the Master, and we could invite them to talk. Perhaps this is our chance to resolve our crisis?"

As soon as Tu Qi left, Yaluo eagerly spoke up.

"No, it’s not right. We haven’t figured out who they really are. Have you forgotten how terrible the people on the land of this planet are? Even though there are only two of them, they are strong fighters. Once Sa Duo and the others are back, we would have enough people to stand a chance against them.

Now that Sa Duo and his party are still out and haven’t returned, those of us left here don’t have much combat prowess. Inviting those strangers in rashly is not wise, it’s too dangerous," Sizhi shook his head decisively, rejecting Yaluo’s suggestion outright.

"What do you think?"

Yaluo, a bit upset about having her suggestion rejected, turned to Bo Ya and Dan Le, hoping for their support, but they agreed with Sizhi, avoiding her gaze.

Yaluo, somewhat disappointed, said, "The arrival of these two people is a hopeful sign for us. What if Sa Duo and the others don’t return today, or if the two outsiders get impatient and leave?"

Bo Ya, Dan Le, and Sizhi all fell silent for a moment, hesitating.

"Wasn’t it also recently that some people in protective suits were lurking around the Master’s spaceship? Then you all couldn’t decide whether to make contact, and after a long discussion, those people disappeared and haven’t been seen since."

Yaluo sighed, "After that, didn’t you regret not making contact, saying that if anyone appeared again, we would approach them? Why hesitate now that they’ve come to us?"

"We haven’t said we won’t contact them, we just want to wait for Sa Duo and the others to return," Bo Ya said, his face reddening, while Dan Le and Sizhi quickly nodded in agreement.

"What if they leave again and never return?" Yaluo sighed, stood up with unsteady steps, and walked toward the window, looking outside.

"In the blink of an eye, a hundred and seventy-three years have passed. The Masters left and never returned; I don’t even dare hope that they will come back. If they never come back, how many more years can we survive on the remaining Elixir?

It’s one thing for us old folks; we don’t have many years left anyway. But what about everyone else? If they run out of Elixir and can’t find a suitable place to settle on land, are they supposed to perish trapped under the sea?"

Yaluo reflected on the several times over these many years that her people made tentative attempts to go ashore, only to return defeated due to their unusual appearance. The most dangerous incident was when one of them nearly ended up dissected for research, but luckily, he was clever and managed to escape back home.

...

It was these experiences that made the tribe fearful of going ashore.

This planet had not yet entered the Interstellar Civilization Era; it was still in the Primitive Civilization Era, unable to venture beyond the planet. Even though there might be slight improvements after a hundred years of development.

They still were not sure if they could be as swiftly accepted by the classes of human society on other interstellar civilized planets, if they could see past the differences of their people without looking at them as aliens, or without scheming to use their people as experimental subjects?

If there were enough Elixir, it would be best for their people to continue living underwater. Even if they stayed here, they faced the reality of increasingly cramped living conditions.

Considering that the Elixir left by the Masters was almost depleted, and their home was becoming too small to live in, Yaluo was genuinely anxious.

Without the Elixir, even with protective suits, they couldn’t leave their habitat. With no means to leave and no source of food, how were they to survive?
