Chapter 361: Chapter 349: Are there any survivors?
Lu Yun’s Spatial Audio-Visual Room.
Lu Yun yawned, covering her mouth with her hand, and said to Shitou, who was copying a 3D projection of the world’s mineral map with pen and paper, "Do you want to go to sleep first and continue after waking up? There’s no need to rush, we’ve got plenty of time."
Although just a few cycles of spiritual cultivation could immediately restore one’s spiritual power to its optimal state—even stronger than normal sleep—it didn’t mean that sleep could be replaced.
For years it had been Lu Yun’s habit to sleep when it was time to sleep, rather than constantly use cultivation as a substitute.
"You go ahead and sleep. I want to finish this map first. Tomorrow is the weekend, so we don’t need to hurry out the door."
Shitou continued to draw intensely, not even lifting his head, clearly intending to stay up all night.
"All right then."
Lu Yun didn’t insist upon it any further, gave him a cup of hot cocoa, and a piece of cake, then went to the bedroom after telling him.
When Lu Yun woke up from a refreshing sleep, it was already half past six in the morning. She washed up briefly, entered the audio-visual room, and noticed that Shitou had finished his hand-drawn map, densely annotated with various symbols.
Lu Yun walked over and looked at it, "Did you spend the whole night on this?"
"Yeah, I compared it with the world map, then with the minerals on the spaceship, to see if I could find the most likely route the previous owner might have taken."
Shitou moved his neck, stiff from maintaining the same position for too long, "If we don’t filter our search, given how big the world is, when are we ever going to find it?"
Lu Yun stood behind Shitou, helping him massage his neck and shoulders, and suddenly asked, "Hey, do you think there might be a location system between the submarine and the spaceship?"
"Location system? Location system... you know, that’s actually quite likely."
Shitou stood up abruptly, "No, we have to go back inside the spaceship to check. Let’s go, I need to make a phone call."
"It’s not even seven o’clock yet. You should wash up and change your clothes. It wouldn’t be too late to leave after breakfast. Besides, there’s no need to be so anxious, the spaceship is under the sea, it’s not like anyone else can take it away?"
Lu Yun hurriedly grabbed Shitou, laughing at the stubble that had appeared on his face overnight.
Shitou touched his chin and laughed too, "I am indeed a bit anxious, but if we apply earlier, we can get there sooner, right?"
"Haste makes waste." Though she said this, Lu Yun still promptly pulled Shitou into the bathroom of the bedroom to wash up.
After Shitou was ready, and they had eaten breakfast, he couldn’t wait and pulled Lu Yun out of the space, hurrying out the door to make a phone call at the office.
Lu Yun saw him out, and even in the short time, she stepped out of the space, she felt a thin layer of sweat on her body.
It was more comfortable to stay inside the space during summer. There were four seasons inside, but the temperature was pleasant and the air was especially fresh and natural inside the castle.
However, knowing that Shitou was just going to make a phone call and would most likely return soon, and not wanting to miss his return, Lu Yun didn’t rush back into the space.
She returned to her room and, to mask the fact that the air conditioning was still on—although it couldn’t compare to the naturally cool air in the space—it was still much cooler than the living room.
As usual, Lu Yun began to focus on researching a new Elixir.
Shitou returned after only an hour. He came home looking excited and immediately looked for Lu Yun, "Pack up, we’re leaving in half an hour."
"Why so soon?" Lu Yun’s mouth formed an ’O’ shape.
"As soon as I called Grandpa, he took it very seriously and immediately applied to the Chairman. Luckily, we still had the deep-sea protective suits and the key on us, so we can leave straight away." Shitou smiled, clearly pleased with the result.
"Of course, didn’t you see the mineral locations marked on that world mineral distribution map? Most of them are under the deep sea, with very few on land." Lu Yun nodded with a smile, "Shouldn’t those continue to be safeguarded by us?"
"But we might not be able to keep them for much longer."
Shitou gestured for Lu Yun to enter the Spatial Audio-Visual Room and opened the spaceship’s internal projection for her to see, "In fact, I had another suspicion last night. Take a look, don’t you see anything unusual?"
"Unusual?"
Lu Yun watched the constantly changing projection of the spaceship’s interior, puzzled. These were images they had taken themselves.
She looked for a long time but couldn’t figure out what was wrong and finally looked at Shitou with questioning eyes, "Stop beating around the bush and just tell me, what’s the anomaly?"
"Don’t you think this spaceship is huge?"
Shitou fixed the 3D projection on a certain level, "Look here."
"Isn’t it normal for it to be big? Actually, this Cosmic Spaceship is on the smaller side. The really big ones can easily accommodate tens of thousands of people. What’s there to see here? It’s just that there are many cabins, right?"
Lu Yun looked at the level fixed by Shitou, which was almost entirely filled with cabins. She and Shitou had looked inside some of them; the cabins were more or less the same, each containing two to four sealed pods.
Lu Yun was taken aback, then also thought of a possibility, "Could these be the crew’s cabins? Right, where are the crew members?"
Shitou’s eyes locked onto that area of cabins, "Looking at these cabins, they could accommodate at least a thousand people. Even if some were lost through a black hole, how is it possible that, apart from the previous owner of the space, none of the others survived?
This large Cosmic Spaceship, even if it could be set to fly automatically, surely couldn’t go completely without crew, right? During long voyages in space, if there was only one person, wouldn’t they go insane from solitude? And what if something went wrong with the spaceship? Could the repair robots really solve any problem by themselves?"
"...Given what you’re saying, it’s almost certain there were crew members. But as to why none of them survived, that’s really hard to say."
Lu Yun looked at Shitou, then hesitantly spoke, "Have you forgotten that the former owner of the space had a Divine Artifact? In an emergency, she could have easily hidden inside the space.
I think the likelihood of her taking others with her into the space is slim. Otherwise, how do you explain the fact that if anyone did survive, not a trace can be seen of those people?"
