Chapter 270: Chapter 262: Hide

As soon as Lu Aiguo and his group arrived at the villa, the stylists responsible for everyone’s appearance had already been there, busily attending to the female members of the family in a spacious and bright room upstairs that was designated as the makeup room.

Considering the time, Lu Yun thought that leaving herself about forty minutes to change and get ready was already pushing her limit. So, she took the opportunity while Xia Yuan was not paying attention, and quietly slipped out of the villa with Shitou’s hand in hers.

Shitou saw her sneaking around, wary of being seen by Xia Yuan, looking like she was ready to make a quick escape and couldn’t help but laugh, cooperatively playing along with her. Suddenly, they were out of the villa, strolling around the villa complex.

Lu Yun had never liked spending too much time on makeup and hairstyling, and was particularly averse to overly complicated hairstyles.

This aversion had carried over from her past life. Each time there was a similar dinner event, she would have her personal stylist finish her look as quickly and simply as possible.

From simple facial treatments to the final makeup and hairstyle, the best scenario was to keep it within forty minutes, and at most, it should not exceed sixty minutes. She thought about the stylist she was accustomed to in her previous life, a very sunny young girl, who although was not very old or very famous, was initially just an assistant to her former stylist. However, she unexpectedly discovered that the girl’s skills were more to her liking...

But at this moment, she was probably still studying—if she had already started working by now, Lu Yun had no intention of immediately seeking her out. Her current self had not yet gone through those experiences, and bringing the girl in too soon could be counterproductive, possibly causing her to miss out on the opportunities that would shape the style she desired.

Well, she thought, wait for it, and when the time comes, dig her out.

"Are you afraid of history repeating itself?" Holding his silly girl’s frail and boneless little hand, Shitou teased with unreserved amusement.

"How can I not be afraid? If you tried it, do you know how big the psychological scar would be?" Lu Yun glared at him, and Shitou couldn’t help but chuckle even more.

Sneaking out was also because Lu Yun was afraid that if she left too much time for the stylist, her mother and aunts, as well as her maternal and paternal aunts, would start commanding the operation from the sidelines.

This was not an unfounded worry; such an incident had happened before. With these ’advisors’ who thrived in chaos present, she was given an opinion by each person, and ended up pinned in front of the makeup table like a Barbie doll, subjected to makeovers, dressing, undressing, changing jewelry, changing hairstyles...

She was hassled for four or five hours nonstop until her father and Shitou, who had lost their patience, staged an intervention under "pressure" to finally "rescue" her.

It was nothing short of a nightmare. She would rather die than walk into that trap again—she had to time her return perfectly today.

As Lu Yun and Shitou held hands and strolled leisurely through the villa complex, breathing in the fresh air and feeling quite content; her cell phone was left in some space, with no signal, so nobody could find her. How wonderful, haha.

In the villa, Xia Yuan and the others were indeed frantically searching for Lu Yun.

Everyone was ready, only to realize that they had not yet seen the star of the show. After asking around, and none of the stylists admitted to working on Lu Yun’s looks for the day, everyone began to panic.

Glancing at the time, with guests due to arrive shortly, the female lead had just pulled a disappearing act—was this not utter madness?

In the living room on the first floor, Xia Yuan asked Lu Aiguo in a fit of rage, "Have you seen your daughter?"

"No, isn’t she upstairs, did you look in her own room?" Lu Aiguo replied, slightly bewildered by his wife’s question.

"Searched everywhere, haven’t you? That brat, daring to run off at a time like this. All your fault, if you hadn’t spoiled her since she was little, would she dare to be so bold?"

Xia Yuan checked the time, no need to say anything else, the group that was picked up by a car dispatched to B University’s gate should arrive within an hour.

Blaming me again?

Lu Aiguo’s face was covered in dark lines. But upon seeing his wife’s furrowed brows and her stern look, he swallowed hard and didn’t dare to talk back, feeling guilty.

"Your auntie is quite formidable, huh? But your uncle has such a good temper," Jiang Xiuwan whispered to Gu Meng, pulling at him gently with a look of envy.

"At home, only in front of her own family, will auntie get anxious and talk to uncle like that. But in public, in front of others, even if she’s in a rush, she would still give face to my uncle," Gu Meng whispered back to Jiang Xiuwan.

"You just need to give me some face in public too, and you can yell all you want at home--"

"You’re saying this now, but don’t go back on your word later," Jiang Xiuwan looked askance at Gu Meng, skeptical of his words. He talks a good game now, but who knows if he’ll flip and become a big macho male-chauvinist pig after they get married?

"I swear on my integrity," Gu Meng quickly raised his right hand as if taking an oath when he saw she didn’t believe him.

"Stop fooling around; do you want everyone to stare at us?" Jiang Xiuwan’s face was flushed with redness.

"So, do you believe me or not?" Gu Meng teased her with a playful challenge.

"I believe you," Jiang Xiuwan glanced around cautiously, seeing no one familiar and feeling the pressure of the situation, she reluctantly nodded while grinding her teeth. But the look she gave Gu Meng was laden with a dangerous, knife-sharpening message.

Gu Meng wasn’t actually scared at all; rather, he felt a sense of eager anticipation. But to play along, he put on an exaggerated shiver. This only served to annoy Jiang Xiuwan more, leaving her vexed and helpless, leading her to turn away with a huff.

As she turned, she caught sight of Lu Yun and Shitou walking in through the door.

"Auntie, Sister Xiaoyun is back," the youngest of Lu Aibing’s triplets, eight-year-old Lu Qing, who was standing next to Xia Yuan, also spotted Lu Yun and quickly tugged at Xia Yuan’s sleeve.

"So you remember to come back? Do you have any idea what time it is, and with so little time left, what can we possibly do..." Xia Yuan turned around, saw Lu Yun, and started scolding her without a hint of warmth in her voice.

"Xia Yuan, stop lecturing the child for now, hurry and tell her to go change her clothes and get ready," Lu Aijiao quickly intervened, directing Lu Yun, "Hurry upstairs, you child."

Lu Yun grinned and stuck out her tongue, then quickly nodded, "Got it."

Before she left, she didn’t forget to greet Jiang Xiuwan, "You must be my little cousin’s wife, heh, I’ve heard my little cousin mention you many times. Only seeing you today, you’re really as beautiful as he said."

Jiang Xiuwan’s face flushed again, "Oh, not at all, just average. He tends to exaggerate, you better hurry and change, we’ll have plenty of time to chat later."
